Dharma Meditation Trainer for Android
I am setting max meditation time, still it goes just 3 mins. If I use its 'flight mode' then the screen gets turned off after some time(as per phone settings) and ur app exits at that event. There is no user guide to understand the app behavior. Two Nice bell sounds. Good for little timepass, bt nt MEDITATION.
I've been on and off about my meditation for a while now and this is a great way to get back into it. The daily reminders help a lot and the mantras give you something to think about through your day to make it a little brighter! Though I do wish it would let you turn the screen off without quitting the app. Also the widget with the mantras doesn't resize the text for longer mantras so they will be partially unreadable.
I enjoy meditating to the sound of the chime, however, I don't think of the wise sayings. I was taught to free the mind and strive to think of NOTHING, which is harder than it sounds. I only read the thought after. I like that the app has a reminder next to the battery icon at the top of the screen to remind me to meditate. Only problem is I have to try to turn it on multiple times before it works. It gives me a message that it has 'stopped" repeatedly.
I appreciate that the first several meditations are only three minutes long. It makes getting started easy. Just made it to level 2, so let's see what that brings. The only reason why its not a 5 star app is because of the obnoxiously large donation and share button after every single meditation. 5 stars = asking for donation or share at the completion of every level or two
I believe that the app is beneficial yet refreshingly simple. The widget, however, can't show the full quote sometimes because it's too big for the widget box. There's no way to enlarge it and by tapping the box, the app leads me straight to the meditation program, not the quote. The settings are all for meditation; none for font size.
I like this appp, but don't like tht u can't change settings and then listen to bells until you use app or that you can't change settings while inside app. Also, dont know when medotation is over w/o javing to watch rhe clock. Otherwise happy with it.
It does what its supposed to do, except I do wish that it could be increased to longer increments. The real selling point is the notification to meditate, which makes you feel guilty for missing a day. Perfect for the person who needs a nice little pick me up in the middle of the day.
I find this app beneficial. The calls to charity are a reminder of our connectedness even if I rarely respond. Found more rewarding to use after experimenting on how to reactivate bell. Had to hold sound button down when in sound mode to make it work. Just toggling or cycling between modes did not work on LG G2.
It is so simple to meditate but it can seem daunting. This app completely does away with anything unnecessary and allows you to focus on your one task: to meditate. The app itself is well made and lovely to navigate. I love the option for sounds throughout meditation or just at the end, or no sounds at all. And the home screen widget is great for getting little doses of wisdom throughout my day. Thank you for this app.
Begins with 3 minute meditation. bit of a shock at first as it starts countdown as soon as you hit the start button. could have done with 30sec prelim to get you settled. otherwise really good like the regular chimes to keep me focused. Was short, snappy and very manageable. thank u
I see no way of actually setting the time I want a reminder to meditate. The default seems to be whenever you first opened the app! Annoyance: Setting the reminder sound should allow you to HEAR each one to try -- did anyone test this from a first-time user standpoint? Only one is tolerable, but at least there is one. The others seemed quite jarring to me.
A nice app that reminds you to meditate, provides an image and a timer, timer increases with each level up to your desired meditation length, nifty tool. But it does not actually offer any help on meditation. Sound not working and ugly popups. Would benefit from a vibrating notice at end of time.
This app is really helpful I just started and now I'm feeling better about myself then I was before. I didn't think that it would help me from being stress and angry.. but as I do this it has helped thus far . I contining on meditating through out my days. Best stress reliever yet!
Just started meditation a weekends ago. I've been experimenting different things and I like the thought of concentrating on the phrases and "words of wisdom"but the audio is bad and I hate having to exit and re enter the app to opt out of sharing. Also need to be able to set a vibration at variable times to warn the session is up. 3 minutes is not near adequate time to concentrate and actually go into deep thought and maditate. I found it more useful to memorize the quote quickly and meditate however long.
I dont like the fact that the words of wisdom are all used the negative adverbs. For example the say "happiness never decrease" ousted of "happiness increase". This small change of word could do so much in our subconscious mind.
A free, gentle reminder to turn inward at least once a day. This has been an excellent way to restart my much longer meditation sessions after a hellish year when I let my practice lapse. A lovely intro for beginners, a good reminder for the more advanced. Thank you for creating this.
When I installed this I thought it'd be more of a guided meditation, but it's basically just a timer. That you don't even get to choose the amount of time for. It may be nice for someone who has never meditated before, but it's not for me. Uninstalling.
Best of all, it works in my life. Interface is good. I like that it builds up from easier levels. The daily reminder makes me smile. It's not intrusive, yet I notice on days when I got too rushed in the morning, that my breathing calms in anticipation as the reminder pops up to, oh ever so gently, suggest that I remember to meditate today, "Please." Getting started on meditation used to be a Have-to, now it's more like Oh Thank You, I would love to! Still just getting started, but for now this is a resounding Yes. Oh, and speaking of resounding, I have yet to try out any other sounds, the chinese bells have me enthralled.
I love the concept. The notification is a great reminder. Gradually increasing time/levels helps me dig in gradually. I just wish the meditation sounds could be spaced out at 1 minute intervals. I don't want constant sound, just punctuation. But this has the sounds as all or nothing -- and what it has is a little bit grating. I'm still using it for now. Prefer the sounds and intervals of insight timer. But want to use the training aspects of this one.
I started with the buddhist meditation app which was ok but this app is like the new and improved version. Everything I disliked about the earlier version was fixed on this one. I hope one day they have an option for chant based practices like an audio of "namo..." and "om padme.." that you'd hear in temple.
if another app takes focus you lose all progress. Airplane mode doesn't work at all in app either. I can't count how many times Any.Do has popped up near the end of a session and this app has just thrown away 20 - 30 minutes of progress.
It works fine but I think it needs the following Sync between devices. I have a tablet and phone. Landscape view. I have to turn my head when using my docked tablet. Ability to manually adjust level. Had to reinstall app and had to start all over again.
Good mantras.. like that it lets me know when im done. No mater where I go I have noise so it is very hard to focus. Option for white noise or nature sounds. Would love to meditate next to a small streem out in the woods
I love this app and recommend it to anyone who mentions an interest in practicing meditation. However, it's a bit frustrating to have to uninstall it and reinstall it after I hit level 10. If I didn't have to do that, this app would get five stars from me.
You can select to meditate for 30 min or longer but a donation add pops up every 10 min saying you have to be level 2 to donate. I didn't know this was a game.
The unicef advertisement after every mediation is completely inappropriate. I have nothing against unicef, but this is the wrong channel to promote them. Great concept otherwise, but forced to delete it due to the ads
Meditation is something new to me. This is a great application so far no bugs. I have been using it for a week. The application reminds me to meditate everyday, I am starting to notice more mental clarity. I will post more results as I get used to meditating. Thank you.
Audio for the bells is really poorly recorded....you can hear the static in the background. Also no option to simply open and close with bells. However, I do appreciate the slow leveling the app does. It's nice for easing me back into my practice.
There is always a problem getting the sound to play, which distracts from the meditation. The quotes are ok so far. I like that it times the meditations for me and allows me to gradually increase my time. I really like the chimes :) I find it very relaxing. A solid - good - app. Please fix the music!
The bell continously chimes if you can get the sound to work. If the bugs can be fixed it would be great. Just a start and stop bell would be the most beneficial. I like the concept of levels and growing time sessions to help people stick with it.
I enjoy using this app to help me with my meditation practice. They have improved it a lot since their previous app. I like that it will remind you meditate if you forget and it dings like a timer when your done.
I like this app because of the reminders. The only thing I would change would be an ability to set the starting time manually for those of us who already practice. I would like the option to start at a time of my choosing..say between 3- 6 min? I appreciate the effort put in to make this for me! Thanks again, Elliot
It's cool I like that it gives you quotes and saying to meditate on and also the bell sounds. It's nice I guess, no big deal or anything. Right now I'm on level two.
A simple and easy way to improve your practice of meditation, really enjoy it. Would suggest some sort of login to save progress, it happen to me that lost mine when changed phone
Easy to use. I love the words of encouragement! The bell is a gentle reminder your session is over. Very good!
When I go through a stressful time I use this wonderful app to meditate and regain my equilibrium!
This app is very simple, yet is extremely effective. It allows you to meditate as necessary, in small 3 minute periods. As you begin to meditate more frequently, you can increase your intervals or stay at 3 minutes. Regardless it is an amazing way to relax and get into meditation.
I'm annoyed-I was on, like, Level 5, and for some reason it reset the whole thing, making me start over with shorter times. Even if I got a new phone, there should be a way to maintain my current settings.
I love that it reminds me randomly to meditate, and often it's at the time I most need to stop and center myself! The words of wisdim are great points to ponder when your mind wanders during the meditation moments too. A great addition to my growing practice of being more mindful and taking time out of doing to just be.

I'll be the first to admit I've been extremely lazy in my practice lately. I found this app as decided to give it a try, it helps put me back in my practice. I do what it says and that's all I do. It slowly works you up from just a couple of minutes too much more. It's slowly gets you adjusted to sitting longer.. it was good for me, it would be even better for beginners. Especially if you're new to meditation. Give it a try. simple an easy to use.
