Weight GURUS for Android
The app tracks weight well and is easy to set up using Bluetooth. I did manage to find an entry for BMI and other readings, but it was well hidden. This is my third day of using the app but there seemed to be only one BMI reading so I'm not sure if it tracks progress on that. Also, it's supposed to allow me to set up two users but I couldn't figure out how to do that.
Love it! Easy to set up, the tracking is awesome, and the app is handy. I couldn't get it to connect to Samsung health though, but I just installed Google Fit instead. Are there 'challenges' that can be done between friends or users of the scale? 'First to X lbs down' 'Y has consistently lost <X lbs per week for Z Weeks'
Samsung finally resolved the BT issue today, 9/14/2017, after fouling up BT apps since 7/8/2017. Weightgurus is back in my good graces. ***EDIT*** The app has quit pairing or communicating with my scales after the Samsung update around August 8, 2017. I have notified weight gurus as well as Verizon but as of today, no fix. The Bluetooth issue is occurring with other Bluetooth devices too. Rest assured Samsung is not going to fix the issue, but the developer. Android v6.0.1. Newest build. Samsung Galaxy S-5. Really like this app. Just started having trouble with my blood pressure app for Omron. They're ratings are dropping like a rock. I wish they would do as well as your developers.
Weight gurus advertises that this device syncs with other fitness apps yet they provide no documentation to explain how that's supposed to happen. Google Fit has no information on my weight. The scale has lost my weigh-ins in the past when the battery went out. So now I have a whole month without any tracking. At least give me some idea when the battery is about to die
Really needs to have a way to just send the data from the scale to Google Fit directly. The app is okay, but it shouldn't be necessary to use the scale. It seems like a clunky and annoying way. Also, would be great if it sent muscle, BMI and fat percentage (among other stats) to Google Fit.
Update: 10/09/17 this app no longer connects to myfitnesspal, the app I have been using as a bridge to Garmin. I would like to connect directly to Garmin Connect rather than use another app as a bridge. I would also like to have the option to disable or hide BMI as it is an inaccurate metric for health. Muscle mass, body fat, bone density, and water weight are metrics that aid in fitness analysis. BMI doesnt account for those metrics. As someone with higher muscle mass, BMI does not apply to me. So, I would like the apps and scales I use to not remind me that the rest of the world still pays attention to this useless classification system.
Kind of nice that it tracks your weight. Annoying that you need your phone nearby to sync as you weigh in. Really obnoxious that you can't sync prior weigh ins without getting a current weight: example weighed in this morning (at time & with cothing I usually have for weigh in), and can't sync now after showering & eating without taking another weight.
Adequate but a ain to deal with. While setup is easy, the Bluetooth pairing on my scale gets lost frequently. The main screen of the app is abysmal, circa 1995 in design. That seriously needs a redesign. Inter-app compatibility would be greatly appreciated as currently it sends only a limited amount data.
I appreciate how it graphs the weights from the Weigh-Ins, but* I would be really impressed by the graphing of all the data received. If the scale has the potential of taking those additional measurements, then why not display the collective data? Looking forward to the next update ;) *Cough*
Good app. Love the WiFi scale. I don't like how unit tracking section forces landscape mode. Also wished the data was organized in a few different ways to make it more impactful; currently you get a line graph of your numbers, that's it. It's be nice to have health ranges, general suggestions, overall health profile, etc.
I like what the app has but it doesn't support all my scale fearures. It's missing BMI history. Unless I can't find it which in that case app is not user friendly. Also I would like for all history to be seen at once. You can only see each month at a time.
I bought a scale from these guys simply because the app appeared to be a lot less intrusive than other apps in that category. While I'm very pleased with the scale, the app itself is quite outdated. The interface and functionality remind me of something from 3-5 years ago. Pressing the back button won't really go back but instead closes the app which Is fairly annoying. Certain objects that seem like buttons are not. Plots that should be interactive, aren't. And while I appreciate the simplistic interface, it really does need a major update.
In app navigation is not Android standard. Regardless of where you are in the app, the back button exits the app rather than going back one screen. This is very annoying. I don't know if the developers have brought over iOS paradigms or what, but I keep forgetting and exit when all I wanted to do was close the history window.
Really easy to set up and use. Nice tracking over time with clearly organized and easily parsable information. If you only want to track lost weight without seeing your total number, there is a weightless option.
The main issue I have isn't the app but with the scale itself. Every other scale I have used within the past week has had me about 20 lbs. heavier than this scale(I used a different electronic scale and a manual scale at my gym) I feel like the scale is inaccurate. I have double, triple and even quadruple checked but I'm consistently getting the same weight, which doesn't correlate to the weight I normally get.
Months later. On both Android and iPhone: This app feels like a developer who was bored and wanted to make a quick buck. Design flow sucks. Detail view? None. Honestly, the interface on the scale itself is 10 times better. We need a 100% redesign and flow. There are annoying bugs and slow syncing. We need a once a day check to the scale to say "hey, new data? Sync now." Without us opening the app. Then you send a push notification that says "New weight logged! See how you did. " why am I doing this for you? I care unlike this app developer. I'm gonna be buying a different scale from company who likes to not fail and who cares about their experiences.
It's nice to see the history of your weight and I like that I can open it up every 3 days if I want.. But the app itself has issues. Sometimes it doesn't sync up with the scale at all. Today it's just hanging on a white screen and refusing to open too.
I think the scale is great and like that it has the ability to provide you with detailed information. The one downside for me is that the scale and the app often do not sync my weigh-ins. I have even tried opening the app on my phone and placing my phone directly next to the scale thinking maybe the phone and the scale need to be in close proximity. A couple of times it has "caught up" and synced my previous 2 or 3 weigh-ins but not until hours later or the following day. Am I doing something wrong? I've only had the scale since June. Just to test it out before I wrote this review I weighed myself 2 separate times within 10 minutes and both weigh-ins have yet to sync. Please advise if you have any tips. Thank you for your time. Also, any plan of integrating with the Samsung Health app?
Wow. Such a disappointment. Inconsistent sync. Losing days on end of weigh-ins & it's only a one shot, so it seems I lose my data. Beyond that, analytics in the app would be a nice addition.
I'm so disappointed with this app and the scale. The app doesn't keep track of anything except weight, even though the scale takes those measurements. Can't sync to any other apps and the scale isn't compatible with OpenScale or any better Bluetooth syncing apps for scales.
Does ok. The app is a little hard to navigate, every time you go to a setting and want to go out, if you hit the back button, it just closes the app. You have to hit the X, a little annoying. Also takes a while to update. If you get on the scale and lose weight, the progress bar on top takes a few hours to calculate the weight loss. Once I get used to app, might be ok. I do like how it syncs to other apps, Google Fit. Overall, it's ok.
I downloaded this app because it was recommended for my Bluetooth scale. It does not connect or sync properly. I had it only work once, now I have to manually reconnect my scale every time I use it, and most of the time that doesn't work, and I end up have to manually put in my data.
This app will NOT send my weigh ins to my fitness pal. I have re-done the integration process twice. Also, would be nice if it would connect to Garmin Connect. TONS of people use Garmin fitness tracker products instead of Fitbit.
App is ok but not a format that is easy to use. Very difficult to setup the scale. Weighed this morning and got 3 different weights in a 4 lb range. I'll be returning this scale.
I can't even set up an account on the App. It just hangs and hangs and hangs. There is no documentation on how to resolve and the web page does not allow you to set up an account. So basically the scales are useless and I'm sending them back to Amazon.
This app worked alright, if with bare minimums, until today when it would not open-- just a blank white screen, never loads the menu. Tried restarting etc. and will reinstall, but wasn't sure if the data was cloud-saved or not and didn't want to lose all my old tracking. I will absolutely change my rating if this is fixed. Edit: reinstalling worked, but it will not let me sign in. An unknown error occurs.
I love it! It was so easy to set up... You have to watch the video. I don't have anyone else that lives with me so I'm not sure how having more than one user works. I don't have to have my phone because it's hooked up to the Wi-Fi. I get a notice on my phone that a new weight is logged in and it'll shop me how much I've lost over the week or month. It's a great motivator! I love it.
It's okay. Had I not thrown the box out, I would return it. I'm not certain the body fat is accurate. I can step on the scale 3 times back to back and get 3 different readings at times. I'm not sure why that happens. The overall reporting is not the best. The could format things better. The Bluetooth won't work either, so I use wifi.
I do really like this scale. The App is mostly good. Sometimes the connection back to the server can be flaky. Just wish the percentage muscle on the scale would work. It's stuck at 25% no matter how light I get.
My weight will not post to the app unless I uninstall and reinstall it. This is a huge pain, it still posts my weight to my goole fit app. Hope this get fixed fast Samsung Galaxy S7. Works great on my wife's iPhone 10.
App does not consistently work correctly. Most days I try to use the app only once. Yet it usually takes two attempts to record the record: The first time it says that the entry isn't recorded because the data is corrupted. I then wait for the scale to go blank then I step on and try again. Usually it works the second time. Very aggravating.
Their scale measures several metrics but won't sync all info to their app. Why? You have to download a 3rd party app.... choose wisely. I couldn't find one that monitored the same metrics. Scale works fine by itself after syncing. However, while the display address is backlit the metric it's measuring is not making it difficult to impossible to read. I'm returning the scale and disposing the app for the serious lack of effort in making a whole and unified product. Good intentions with a piss poor execution. Sorry.
It worked great at first. But now, it's not syncing with my Bluetooth scale. I'm kinda bummed out. If it was more reliable, it would be a 4. If I could trust it to sync without double checking, it's a five.
I would love this app if it didn't just stop working sometimes. I can't even log in now! It so frustrating!
App GUI was difficult to use. Should be easier to enter information. Unable to pair on Android easily. Gave up in frustration, and I consider myself an above average tech person. Easier to connect Apple, but lost connectivity often. I can't recommend this app or the scales as yet.
I like that this scale is Bluetooth enabled but why the heck won't it let me see my current bmi in the app? Needs a more user friendly app interface. Not impressed.
Great tie in to MyFitnessPal and Fitbit apps. Bluetooth scale works seamlessly and tracks data well. I originally bought a 1byone scale but returned because of the horrible app that didn't integrate with other fitness devices/apps and spotty Bluetooth connection.
This is a great app and syncs flawlessly with my digital scale. Gives me a visual on how I'm doing with weight, body fat, muscle mass and even proper water ratio. Best of all I'm not getting spammed by useless notifications and ads.
I love how simple things are with this app once this is setup with our Weight Gurus WiFi scale. The sync with Fitbit and Google Fit is flawless. My one wish is that for the inclusion of an adjustable exponentially weighted moving average. Currently, the weight differences (weekly, monthly, etc) seem to be calculated based upon final weights for that period. The best implementation of trend weights that I've found on Android is Libra Weight Manager. There, they graph actual weight as floaters and sinkers and have the trend value displayed as your primary trend line. This helps smooth out the normal weight fluctuations that everyone sees. This trend line also establishes a weight change rate that can help motivate me by predicting when I might achieve my goal weight. Their stats page is also pretty easy to read and help make calorie/exercise adjustments to stay on track. I would love these features to be available here. Until then, I am reentering my synced data over into Libra Weight Manager to get the graphs I like... It would also be nice if the weight gurus app would not force you to change orientation when you look at your graphs. Long review, but I like the app. Though, if I wasn't using the scale, I don't know if I would use the app. Thinking of it as an app that "goes along with the scale" it is surprisingly capable. Looking forward to hopefully seeing trend based graphs and stats!

The app has a learning curve but take the time to learn and navigate it and it becomes a useful tool to track different body composition measurements over time visualising trends. I couldn't figure out how to set up multiple users through my app so I had all other users download the app separately on their own phones/devices.
