About Lenses
In this app, we will understand the formation of a convex and a concave lens. We will also learn how these lenses work. We will learn about the terms related to these lenses such as principal axis, principal focus, optical centre, focal length etc. We will understand how the focal length of the lens depends on its thickness.
Lenses are thought to be made of several rectangular prisms stacked in a well-defined manner. In a convex lens, they are stacked in such a way that their larger bases always face towards the optical centre. But in a concave lens, the rectangular prisms are so arranged that their larger bases face away from the optical centre. The phenomenon of refraction is explained in both the cases with the help of these prisms. In this app, it has also been explained how real and virtual images are formed in the two types of lenses.
