DJI Ronin Assistant for Android
Pathetic support from DJI. Its Russian roulette if this app connects to your device or not and to make it worse DJI wont give phone support. Its so bad that my Ronin M is unusable. Dont waste your money
This app worked great until the update in August last year. Since then, on my Galaxy S4, the app hangs while running the auto-tune routine, and the gimbal does not completely tune. This leads to motors randomly straining, creating noise and shaking the camera. DJI, please update this app on Android before completely abandoning this equipment.
DJI The future of impossible! have managed to connect via my android phone twice in a week of trying! rest of the time, app crashes frequently or just hangs trying to connect to the ronin. downloaded it on a colleague's iPhone and what a surprise it works a dream! DJI needs to sort this out or send me an iphone! poor!
App crashes and or freezes on balance check, calibration, and when using feedback submission. Crashes or freezes on auto stabilization. I paid 1600 dallors for a device and got a useless app. Please fix. Using fully updated Android s7. Thank you. Keith
Its definitley not a pretty app, but its now functional (for my purposes). Old versions were unusable for android. Its been ported from the iOS version. Material design is nowhere to be found.
Tnis is a garbage app, unstable and won't connect. Tried on different phones. Unusable. If I put it in background or close screen, it crashes. This only if you are lucky and can connect in the first place.
Was not designed with the Material Design guidelines in mind, and not developed to an acceptable standard at all. All things considered, these drawbacks mean the app's performance is pathetically unreliable.
its as bad as the actual dji ronin m. Frankly its a piece of buggy, crashy useless ####. Mostly doesn't connect, sometimes will but just stops at random. Wish I could give it zero stars - it's all it deserves. I wish DJI would actually spend some time and effort of fixing existing tech...but no, once it's out the leave it alone complete with the problems, bugs and total failures.
So. Its slightly dependent that the app controlling the drone works. These apps dont. Expensive junk, false advertising. Where is the zero star or negative rating? Please do not waste your money. There are other drones that will cost less and are much more reliable.
Garbage. Absolute dumpster fire of an app. My Ronin connects instantly on any ios device but will never connect on Android.
For setting up my Ronin it's fine. But the whole software package is simply a mess and really out of date. When you pay around 2600 euro for a product that needs an app to work. You'd expect a descent and high end app.
Functions of the app are great, when it works. Has trouble getting connected and staying connected. Also, the presets are not great for the cameras listed. Auto calibration isn't useful, and fine tuning requires scrolling through 100 numbers, would be better to allow typing a value in. App continues to state "new firmware found" but is referencing older versions of firmware.
Super...slow. Even on a powerful phone like the Samsung S7, it can't take it. Rarely connects up, terrible app design. Great when it works. But disastrous when it doesn't. In the end it cost me more money.
I can't even log in. Always giving troubles with the DJI Battery warning... Seriously, why I have to manage the ronin with an app that doesn't work properly?
The app always freezes up. Also do not forget your password because you will not be able to use the app. It will not allow me to create a new account either. There is no support.
App will not find/connect to Ronin MX on my Pixel. I put the app on my wife's Galaxy S7, and it connects to the device but then app often crashes. I can connect with a pc over USB, and can see how valuable this app would be if I could update settings on my phone... But I have to agree with everyone else bashing this app. It's simply not developed well. I got out old phones too, a galaxy S3 and a Moto X. App would not work with any of these devices.
Ok this is ridiculous, long list of malfunctioning within this app. Log in issues, auto tuning issues, battery detection issues, connection issues, resetting on it's own issues, test mode issues, freezing issues ... the list goes on. I've never seen a app this bad in my whole life. I paid a lot of money for the Ronin M and returned it to DJI due to the app malfunctioning thinking that something was wrong with the Ronin M and they sent me a brand new one today only to find out that I can't even use it because of this app not working properly. Every single comment before mine describes the same problems and yet DJI has not attempted to fix this. SAD
Perplexed by the fact that you make some of the best drones and gimbals, but can't be bothered to fix the app. Takes multiple attempts to connect, drops connection, and the interface behaves like something on a vending machine. Please sort it out!
It's almost July of 2017 and my review isn't much different from the other horrible reviews that go back several years which leads me to believe that DJI could care less. The Robin M is a wonderful piece of equipment that instantly becomes useless when you need to make adjustments through the app. App crashes, freezes, and refuses to connect on a regular basis. I really wish an independent developer would come up with another option for us Android users.
Where do I start... Constantly goes to a white screen, when scrolling to get the number adjustments it won't do the one you chose it adds one in what direction you are scrolling. It hangs like it's frozen for long periods at the start of changing sections. When you go to change a setting under motor it tries to save some default configuration instead of the last used setting when you have already chosen custom settings. Constantly says there is a firmware update but no direction on how to obtain it. I could go on for days. Please developers work with the community and fix these bugs and add their requests. I will update my review pending resolutions.
THIS IS THE WORST, SERIOUSLY! Very hard to connect in the first place, then easily losses connection, then there goes another 5 minutes trying to connect again. When I need to shoot where am I? Trying to connect aghhhh!
So many bugs to fix. Failing to connect is a major issue, and this has been going for so long. Love the brand, hate the app.
It's EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I paid 1300 bucks for a gimbal that's essentially a paper weight now. You have to get your priorities straight, because this unnacteptable
App crashes a lot. Definitely needs some updating. Not good if you're in the middle on an important shoot.
Terrible functionally with android! Makes my Ronin basically useless. Until I find someone on set with iPhone to let me connect! Smh trash! Fix this asap!
At first i could open the app due to constant crashing at start. Now i can't log in or reset my ronin password. It let me name my ronin but never mention setting a password. I can't auto tune or do anything with this app or even thr desktop app.
This is a complete joke. App hasnt been updated since aug 2016 and it shows. Slow, laggy, doesn't work full stop. Waste of money and the lack of updates shows DJIs care factor for this product. Will be taking mine back tomorrow
I can't believe it's not working on Android. So you just spend almost 2000 dollars on a ronin mx but if you don't own an ios device it won't work. Shame. I am really disappointed with DJI right now.
When it works it's great, however this is rare. It repeatedly fails to find DJI via Bluetooth. Repeatedly refuses to move beyond device password window regardless of what is entered. Repeatedly loses connection to DJI with no warning meaning settings are not always applied. I expect a professional app for a professional tool, not this amateurish mess.
Let's face it, DJI didnt design this app for Android. It was migrated over and it shows in its interface and loose functionality in the Android platform. I wish they took android seriously and built it from the ground up. It works some times, or it works, but doesn't tell you that it's working. Its the only way to fine tune your Ronin. It's just too bad that this is the best they could do.
Tying an app like this to such a great piece of equipment brings my Ronin M from professional tool to expensive toy. Having to constantly restart everything in the field with people waiting on you is pretty terrible. DJI needs to find a more reliable way to tune your Ronin in the field.
I spent an hour trying to connect with a Samsung S7 and it won't let me connect. This is especially strange because I own a DJI Phantom and it needs a PC to work. Why did DJI suddenly go apple? Professional video equipment should work on both platforms. I am greatly disappointed with DJI and wish I would have known this before going through the time of setup.
Poor response 80% this is not connected in my android and by chance if that is connected. Doesn't work proper. Every time hanging during auto tune. Its just like. I throw it to on my wall. Completely hate. Very bad experience.
When it works, great. But far out, actually working isnt one of its strong points. Constant loss of connection, wont reconnect, force quit and restart gets really tedious. ****UPDATE.....tried to use it on a shoot. Absolutely useless. Useless useless useless. Can DJI send me an iphone plse so I can connect???..
Won't connect, and when it will, it just doesn't affect anything. It changes settings by itself, few second delays. 2000 dollars for a machine you can't use. Great.
The update now finds my Ronin MX gimbal yet I need to enter a name and password. I never set this, there is no mention of a default password in the manual. I've reset it with the MAC app via USB and still its asking for a password via bluetooth. Sort your horrible app out DJI, this is awful!
This continues to display problems. Takes too long to connect. Sometimes it does not connect and just continues searching. I tried to sign in on my other mobile and it said incorrect password/username. When i try to send a password to my email it says the email address you entered does not exist. So i try to register with the same email and it says the email address is in use. :| please fix these issues as the problems i face make my company look bad infront of clients.
The buttons don't work like it should, this is iOS copy. Connection 2 times from 10.
Wont keep a bluetooth connection for longer than 30 seconds. Bullshit app for a $2500 piece of equipment.

Beautiful design on the hardware side. Sadly DJI can't design software to save their lives. I've been a fan of the Ronin-M since it became available. But this software will never connect to it! I could roll the dice and use the Ronin without calibrating and tuning it, but as we all know, you can't really see how poor the footage looks until you have it on your computer. Working weddings I cannot put faith in my Ronin at all. I have one Android phone that will connect to it most of the time. But my daily driver (pixel XL) will never detect my Ronin. Come on DJI, please create a professional app for a professional product.
