The app displays the cell broadcast message (if any)sent by the mobile operator on channel 50. It works in totally offline mode, doesn't require internet to update the cell broadcast. Sometimes operators use these to advertise their products as well.
If your country has different CB broadcast channel for area, I will obliged if you inform me.
Currently this App works as below:
1. The main screen updates the as soon as the CB broadcast is received(or in next 2 seconds).
2. Widget: To save power the widget is refreshed after 30 minutes automatically. But any way the refresh can be done using the refresh button.
As you know these cell broadcasts totally depends on the network/mobile provider. So the frequency of update/ or even receiving the message is unpredictable.
Note: Working fine on Nexus 4 (4.4.2). As I don't have other devices, this doesn't guarantee to work specially below 4.0(ICS version).
Requesting not to rate negative if message not received because it may be the case the network operator doesn't support CB broadcast message.

Hi, It stops in Waiting for cell information. Ofcourse, I had made cell boradcast on in the message settings. But it hangs on waiting for cell information. You say it as a widget, but it saves as application. Would you do it as widget, so that it gets the information always. When i restart the phone, i get one message of my cell provider tower information. It seems that no updates have been made for some time.

When I add widget, that time also need to active the Broadcast message option. As because widget is automatically update an also receive several message in message inbox ( +/- 500 within a hour). For that reason battery charge will be dry within a few hours.

It is known that Sony deliberately pulled support to broadcast messages in Android 4.3 in favour of Google maps.Hence this app became unusable.Those who are in dire need of location in letter/Word format ;only choice left is "Cell info Display" apps on Google. But it needs Internet...works good on Sony M Dual C 2004 with And 4.3.Mr Venkat D Pl try. Thank you. on 25/04/15 I attempted software "cell Broadcast"by Digitata,, down loaded from google..Again streaming of broadcast messages ,that to without SMS tone.....but it works only with Airtel.....& not with Idea in Maharashtra.Mr Venkat D , Pl try.
