The Columbus Dispatch for Android
Functional, but interface could use a facelift similar to Dispatch's mobile site. Very generic app. Could use more mobile alerts, too.
Great!
UPDATED FOR DEC 13, 2016 RELEASE: STILL NO WAY TO STORE YOUR LOGON CREDENTIALS. ONLY LUMPS OF COAL FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS STOCKING! Orinigal review: Why doesn't the app let you store the user name and password and then log you in automatically when you open the e-Edition? Look at how the "big kids" (NYT, WSJ, Washington Post) do it!
I can't read a full article from the Dispatch without being interrupted by one of their ads. Absolutely useless. Their love of advertising makes me question if the article I was attempting to read is worth reading.
Love this app. Always so nice when I'm not at home to read my hard copy of the Dispatch with this app. Plus, I can check in throughout the day and keep up on what's going on in the world. Oh, yes, did I mention the wonderful weather section that I can access radar and other vital WX related info.
This app has issues. The e-edition loads once and then I can never get back in. Shows a white screen. Too many ads. Same articles day after day.
This app is rediculous! Distasteful ads and old news, sometimes as much as a week! Editor Miller, you should be ashamed!
It won't save my password so i can't read the e-dition. I guess i should give it 2 stars since at least i can see some articles but I'm so annoyed that boo to you.
Constantly shuts down and cannot log back in. Terrible IT , no help at all.
Old e-3dition reader was better!
Hasn't loaded
Great app and newspaper!
Not fake news, trusted newspaper
Article limit is ambiguous. The in-app message does not define the limit and is of little use to a non-subscriber. How many articles? What is the period? When does the count reset? I can live with an article limit, but the ambiguity has severely hampered my enjoyment of the app. It feels like a game of Russian Roulette when I open an article on whether I can read it or I get the pop-up. (Also, the fact that viewing a Political Cartoon also counts as a full article is annoying.)
Would be a nice app but although I have a paid subsubscription I cant login. My login works fine on the website. Fix this and I'll change my rating.
Will be a 5 when I can access the E-Edition I am subscribed to.
Accurate, precise can read anywhere even on the smartphone
Loads more quickly than before.
I lived in Ohio for 65 years and always read The Dispatch. Now that I'm in Tennessee, this app is how I keep up with my beloved Ohio. Now they are back to limited view. This is a great disappoint to me. Not happy
Keeps saying can't connect to Internet
Keep getting message cannot connect to internet. Only app with this problem.
App was great until the ability to read the e-edition on the app. What's the point of downloading the app if I can't read the paper through the app like before.
Trust me no one minds ads if it's free. But pay wall after an article. Nope and good bye
Kept an old phone just for this app. Ads & pay wall......donation time for this phone. Plenty other news on my Windows Phone, just no Dispatch to which I say au revoir!
After 10 free articles you have to sign up for a subscription. There are ads so there is no reason to force users to subscribe as well.
Liked the previous app much better. Give us a list of headlines. Too much scrolling to get to the news.
I've used this app for a while now and now I have to pay. I'll find other sources to read the news.
It's great to take the paper with me on my phone!
Easy to navigate. I enjoy this App!
Despite ads all over the app, the pay wall is now back - 10 free articles per day
I don't appreciate an update unexpectedly requiring a subscription. Instead of setting an article limit, there should simply be advanced features/special articles which are premium content.
Play store needs a useless, less than zero stars rating! New owners = greedy bastards! Turned a useful app despite the ads, into a useless POS. Too many others sources for news to be stuck with with this crAPP.
With the latest update, only get 10 free articles. I prefer the old format where I can scroll to see the headlines, not just the top three. I have used this app for many years and have really enjoyed using it for local news but I can get my local news elsewhere for free. I will be removing this app.
I uploaded the latest version today. I can adjust to the new format but once again I am restricted to reading 10 articles for free. Sorry but I will not pay to read the Dispatch app. I'd rate higher because I like the changes but I won't because of the restriction.
Apparently I have read all the free articles I'm allowed. Sucks cause the previous version let me read all I wanted. Just go to the mobile site on your browser and read away and save yourself some storage space on your phone/tablet. The mobile site now mirrors how the old app looked. I'm uninstalling now and I suggest no one else even bother.
Also, response to my complaint was in adequate. No response to my follow up email. I still can't log on
As a long-time e-edition reader, I don't mind paying for quality content. BUT I'm frustrated that the app won't "remember" my credentials. I have to type in my username and password each time I want to read the paper! The rest of the design actually looks good - but ruined by the hassle of logging in each time.
Haven't we been down this road before? Why do they keep messing this up?
Says it needs an update, but nothing shows on the Play Store. Typical. ... Now of course they want me to pay. I guess I could have predicted that. Wtf
