About Promenade
Promenade was written so that I could learn Android development, long ago. It's open sourced on github (search for Promenade) if anyone is interested in looking at the source code. I used it for a university project and a rather excessive amount of commenting was expected, so be aware of that.
About Promenade:
Promenade lets you track walks and more, taking photos and adding annotations/notes on the map as you go.
Each trip is stored in a list, with full support for searching and tagging walks, so that you can easily find any trip you've previously taken. Can be used for regular walks, for sightseeing and more! Walks are tracked via GPS and displayed on Google Maps.
Trips can be paused, which turns off GPS completely, saving battery life - great for if you want to stop and have a picnic, as it means you don't need to finish your walk, but you can save battery.
Map icons (for photos and notes) can be toggled on and off, merge when close together, and when viewing notes and photos, you can swipe them to view more.
Permission Info:
android.permission.INTERNET
Used exclusively by Google Maps.
android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
Used to track position via GPS.
android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Used to store photos taken in the app.

I really like this app and have used it (beta version) for recording days out with friends. It doesn't give information on calories burnt or anything like that but it's not an exercise app, more of a diary.
