Garmin Pilot

I'm paying to much for this app to have more than 0 problems! Weather Overlay has stopped working. I've contacted support but they have not gotten back to me. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the app and now it won't even let me download data! Sectional chart has terrible resolution unless you are zoomed in close. My devices have the power to render them but for some reason the app will not render at high resolution. I need the chart to be crisp not blurry.

Crashes constantly. On the Pixel with Android 8 1, rarely loads without crashing. When it does run, it is VERY slow, and crashes at random times. I will paying for a product that doesn't work reliably. Needs serious attention.

I have spent so much time uninstalling ,reinstalling the 6.2.1 app for android then having to redo all the downloads because the app crashes so many times and the wont open or start. Also the sectionals will show as white patches on screen without wifi even with all sectionals down loaded and up to date. Hours of head ache just to be unsure of it while using it. Would be worth the money if it was reliable but otherwise unsafe.

GP will not load on Android phone or tablet since install of 6.2.1. Blank dark screen and "Not responding" if u access via active apps list. Dead in the water.

Have to drop my rating a bit further. Continues to be very slow to load, loses flight plans continually.

Frequent crashes on my Nexus 7

i used to hate this thing, it was glitchy and couldnt do a whole lot. but within only a few months i have seen a whole lot of improvements, their customer service is top notch. there are still some wrinkles that could be ironed out, but all in all it works well.

Attempts to download app to new phone has failed miserably. App locks up while displaying "Download in Progress ". Contacted Garmin Support. Walked me through . Still same issue. Too bad. When this app works it is great.

Latest version has apparent problems. Takes a very long time to open and missing weather data as well as other info. Really liked previous version but this one was a step back.

Worked fine before I paid for the subscription. Moment I did the app won't start up. Galaxy Tab 2

6.2.0 is WAY slow to open. There is no active flight plan, either.

new update has made the app not work also why cant i get the same thing the ipad version has?

I've been a paid subscriber for years. The app never seems to get any better. Updates seem never to address the core issues with the app. Flight planning is very clunky. Forget about planning a flight day, the app loses your flight plans. So called "Trip planning" does the same thing. I really don't think the developers are or ever were pilots.

Top Aviation, Pilot, Weather and Navigation App. Despite having a very nice Dynon Glass Panel, I find myself using Garmon's Pilot App on every flight. If they'd add 3rd party support for ADS-B and similar sources, Garmin would own this market!

IFR autorouting and flight filling functionality is iOS only. eCharts and chart overlays iOS only. It is unacceptable to force people to use devices from one manufacturer (Apple) running on highly-restrictive platform (iOS).

Everytime I try to download VNC or anything else it comes back as "CYCLE XX ERROR"

Won't load flightchart plates. Emailed customer service and never received answer. Otherwise app is good. UPDATE: I was contacted today and issue was resolved.

This is for a 30 say trial. No indication of cost for the Garmin account.

Would love it if it displayed runway extensions. Great app otherwise.

Hi garmin, I like your app, but when I fill out the flight plan form, it frequently switches from IFR to VFR without my saying so. This is a problem because when I depart and call for my clearance it isn't there because the app filed me under a VFR Flight Plan

All was good until I purchased Moto 5 Plus. Garmin Pilot did not use Internal GPS. GOOD THING I checked before I flew. No working GPS AT ALL! Total flight hazard expecting to get GPS fix with Garmin Pilot..Please Fix. ForeFlight is tempting at this point.

The best suite, by far. Had firefight, but this just works better, has more advanced features and costs less.

This is the most elegantly-designed aviation app I've used, and the auto-scaling Garmin vector maps are good enough that I never revert to the raster sectionals/VNCs, etc. The Android version had stability problems at first, but dev team has been very responsive fixing them. Future wish list: add approach waypoints to flight plan like an airway; altitude alerting (eg at cruise, set an alarm if altitude changes by more than 200 ft).

Good app for pilots

The app is phenomenal. I did find one bug and with Garmin on the other line it was tested and reported to the tech team. The bug I experienced every time was as such. When you open the app and the GPS kicks in you get your locate. When you go home and close the app out immediately it keeps the GPS on. But if your in the app and go home wait 8 secs and the GPS shuts down and you can close the app. At least it was just a patience game. Overall, the app has come a long way and is a must have for pilots along side there other tools. Highly recommended and very intuitive.

Version 6.1.6 fixed 6.1.0 which crashed repeatedly on a Samsung Tab E. New version is very stable. Very powerful app, especially when used in conjunction with GTX 345 via bluetooth. Dynamic maps are great, consistent with look & feel of Garmin devices - weather, traffic & synth vision are great. Flight planning easy to use. App can utilize SD card, a huge plus for my 16G tablet. Support was great, when version 6.1.0 was so unstable. Just waiting for the approach overlays for Android....

So far so good. Integration with Garmin GTX 345 appears excellent. Their custom charts are taking me a bit to get used to and I don't know why I'm obligated to put a proposed flight date & time when drafting a future flight plan, but overall very nice app. 5 stars when Android and iPad version have matching feature sets.

Synthetic view isn't working on Galaxy S7 Edge. Says I need to download obstacle data. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. There is no data I haven't downloaded and it still shows the error. Perhaps if they got this right I would be able to use it and review it. Also what's with having to buy the extra equipment (that i didn't see mentioned anywhere) like the GDL 39 or GTX 345 to get attitude indication working? These phones and tablets all have built in sensors for that. At least give us the option to choose. Nice sales pitch....

Great app. One suggestion.... can you update roads or at least major roads with names. It would make it easier.

GPS wake lock makes this a non starter, it absolutely ruins battery life. Edit: Garmin, that's categorically not true. When I use this app on my phone it uses up more battery than the screen. It wake locks the GPS, even if I put the app to sleep. GSam battery reports the GPS being used for hours when this app is installed.

Love this app on my tablet. I just wish Garmin would keep the Android and Apple versions updated at the same rate. At this time, I've downloaded it on my phone as a back up but am unable to get past the initial download. I get the error "download catalog incomplete. Please ensure network availability and try again." I've tried it on both 4g and WiFi networks with no success.

This app is improving, so far the best thing going for android users. Still not comparable to Fore Flight. Hard to believe that this is a Garmin product.

Guys, fix the GPS issues. Even after closing out the app and diiaisng it from my recently used apps, GPS stays on.

Cool but needs weight and balance

So all my Log Entries are gone...WHAT??! Like that you are starting to consider us Helicopter Pilots with the new warnings over flight paths and the Nearest function is cool too.
