Emanuel OLIVEIRA (Portugallo) per l'Indíce de Risco de Incêndio Florestal (Rischio Incendi Boschivi per Sud Europa - nord-ovest della Penisola Iberica), questo indice è basato sul modello Lowveld Fire Danger Rating System (LFDRS) e il Fire Danger Index (FDI) sviluppato da Michael LAING."

Parametri meteorologici Temperatura dell’aria (°C) umidità relativa (%) e velocità del vento si intendono riferiti ad una altezza di 2 m da terra.
Vanno rilevati alle ore 12 GMT (tempo medio di Greenwich) [ore 13 (ora solare) in Italia].
Fare attenzione alla velocità del vento, molto spesso le stazioni meteo la indicano in m/s, altre volte direttamente in km/h.
L'altezza alla quale viene misurato il vento, inoltre, può essere 2m, 5m o 10 m a seconda del tipo di stazione meteo.

Per riferire le misurazioni effettuate a 5 o 10 m a 2 m di altezza dal suolo moltiplicare il dato misurato rispettivamente per 0,73 e per 0,61.

V2=V5 x 0,73
V2=V10 x 0,61

Premendo sugli indicatori colorati (basso, moderato, alto, molto alto e estremo) è possibile aprire la relativa tabella contenente indicazioni utili al tipo di pericolosità. Nella versione online è possibile anche scaricare l'immagine ottenuta inserendo i dati, cliccando su "Download".
