DeuterIDE takes its name from the anion of hydrogen-2 isotope deuterium, known as heavy hydrogen. You'll find, however, that there is nothing heavy at all about this fully functional editor. This application was made with one thing in mind – fulfilling the need of a lightweight, easy to use way to write code on the go. Applications just like this start with a flash of inspiration; with the mobile platform provided by DeuterIDE, you’ll be ready.

Although a great idea, it does not appear to work. Others have previously stated it throwing errors on valid code in other languages; I tried with Python 3.x, it throws an Auth_error or something for " print("It works") ". This would be the only IDE app I need but it does not work. In addition please change the app's functionality to console programs and it's critical reliance on stdin/stdout

Cannot compile, every times try to compile AUTH_ERROR and asked to check internet connection even that the internet connection is well establish. Tested on java, fortran, octave and html, only html working.

P70%
by P####:

How do I run this program, I keep getting fatal error, auth... Something

D70%
by D####:

This application is a very good idea as it allows compilation on the go. However, the fact that the tab key does not help indent the codes sucks. In addition, why on earth do we have to put the inputs in advance? What if the application requires users to input data or values based on what is shown in the program. (For example: Choosing an item based on a menu). And where do we get the libraries for c++? For example, one of my homeworks requires the windows.h, is it available?

G70%

I keep on getting msg AUTH_ERROR, asking me to check my internet connection, even though I am on WiFi. And do I have to login to run my code? How to login? What is API key?

D70%

As noted in comments by other users, no longer works at all. As soon as I create a project and try to select a filename, it force closes.

This app definately works, but I would like a compiler thats not online, i'd rather risk the extra space of the compiler, than not have offline access. And it needs something on the side that tells me if my code was right or wrong...

D70%
by D####:

Works. Great for learning or creating scrips to transfer to PC.

X70%
by X####:

No option to disable text wrapping (gets very irritating with lisps), and syntax highlighting for the clojure var macro "#'foo" is wrongly tokenized as a reader literal followed by a quote. Fix those and maybe I'll give give stars....

E70%
by E####:

Cant do anything. Just getting AUTH_ERROR.

still having issues and still no response from developer. dont bother wasting the money. it wont get updated developer wont respond. so yeah it has issues but developer wont respond that alone is a reason you will spend money for no reason. im pulling a bill gates and stealing this technology cause if the developer wont embrace the potential i will

I am having my copy of this program take issue with legitimate lines of code in Java 7. There is another review on here expressing the same thing. I could write my code in Textpad on my computer and on my tablet in this program, and it would fail in deuter, but compile in Textpad. When deuterIDE tells me that System.out.println.... is not a statement, and its error arrow is pointing at the S, thus not recognizing the actual command statement itself, then i take issue with the efficacy of the program itself as a mobile platform IDE. I will be forced to continue to do so until it gets resolved as that is the programming language i am learning and need it for, even if it works perfectly with all its other programming languages.

After buying this app a year ago, it broke. Since I couldn't live without it I downgraded to back to Gingerbread just to use it. Now this HUGE update comes along and I can finally install ICS! I use this almost every week, and this update is a major improvement. The editor is much smoother and the editor has a nicer feel to it, especially with the cool color changing feature. I feel bad for the developer because most of these bad reviews are here to stay, but the new version is here also. I gave it a 5 star rating because it's easy to use, even though compiling can take a while (only a minor setback, you're still on a mobile device, not worth taking off a whole star).

Nice and robust....but my java code doesn't execute and comes up with errors...not a good sign being I've already error checked it with jgrasp on my computer and another android IDE program on the phone and its error free. Please consider fixing this. Thank you.

I tried to write a simple 'hello world' python program and i couldn't even get the cursor in the correct place to edit something I had already written.

I really like the app and it has been very useful. However, one thing that would give this app 5 stars is the ability to have more than one file open at a time. Maybe add some tabs at the top where the user can access more than one class at a time, rather than having to save the current file and open another. Thanks!

N70%
by N####:

They've fixed the backspace problem sorta. If you're using a keyboard, you'll have to hold down the backspace key rather than press it a bunch, to backspace even just twice. This sometimes leads to problems. Otherwise, this is a very solid app and a sign of where Android can go as it moves into doing more work&school related tasks, rather than just recreational. I high suggest this for any Java programmers!

N70%
by N####:

This app works - which is good - but it's difficult to use. And if someone calls me whilst I'm typing, all the code disappears and gets autosaved (blank) over the file. Which is bad.

N70%
by N####:

This app was put together really sloppy. I'm on an LG Enlighten Android and this lame app crashes everytime I try to paste something into it! I would rate better if the app worked better. Please update this app because so far I'm sorely disappointed with it!

Y70%
by Y####:

App works under normal conditions but there are times where code will randomly disappear and SOMETIMES reappear making this app rather difficult to use.

N70%
by N####:

The app is definitely promising, but I find it to be unusable due to the backspace key on my ASUS Transformer just not working. The code editor itself also needs work as it's not as pretty as it could be, same with the rest of the UI. Apart from that It's a cool app. Fix the keyboard bug and perhaps do a complete redesign of the UI, then it would be 5 stars, or 10 if I could vote that many!

Quite possibly the best IDE on Android. Takes a variety of languages and does not suffer the same flaws as others on here.

I'll change my rating if the crashing is fixed and I can try it. Galaxy Note 2 with CyanogenMod.
