Dexcom Follow for Android
They really need Android functionality because my child still has to carry an iPhone even though we're an Android family. He needs to carry both Android and iPhone because of this. The G5 to iPhone is not too reliable, either. The iPhone 5S often loses connection to the G5 transmitter. I'm not sure why dexcom thinks the entire world runs on IOS. The fact that the transmitters don't have replaceable batteries is both wasteful and scandalous in my opinion. At some point dexcom will have serious competition. Then what will they do?
I understand some of the dislike for this app since you need to have an Apple device to use the Dexcom Share App. BUT people, my family uses this app and I have an android device. Just search for xDrip or xDrip+ and you will find out how to. As for this app, it's hard to criticize a service that puts my family to sleep at night not having to worry about me dropping without any help. It's not perfect, but I'm glad that they are trying to improve our lives and that they have produced such a great cgm.
I have a non verbal child who now has this machine on him. I need to be able to use this app on my phone. I have a android why the heck does it not work with android. Also the iPad mini it don't work on. What the heck good is this app if it don't work.....................FIX IT COME ON. I MEAN HECK WE PAID WELL OVER 2000.00 FOR THE MACHINE.....
Dexcom is an ultra expensive device for fragile diabetics .$500.00 for the sending unit then a lot for the needles. It's not the way to go unless your life depends on hourly or minutes by minute readings. We were blindsided by the costs.
Update is good... Much faster load time...Great app... Works fine on Android (as follower) if you meet system requirements...I wish it had an ongoing notification in system bar like my temperature notification from my weather app...a widget would be nice also... Ability to customize alarms during wake and sleep, so the wake time alarms could be a ding instead of the current alarm (for follower)...
Downloaded the app, but it won't let me connect to my pump or receiver. I have an android, so is that the problem?
Alerts never work on this or the iPhone version. The receiver rarely generates either. How can you get away with such pathetic software..
Works as described, but I cannot add a picture. I get an error saying it stopped working.
I have a love/hate relationship with this app which I use to remotely monitor my son's blood glucose values (G5) throughout the day. Every few days or so it reverts back to an annoying disclaimer screen stating that the app has not been tested on my Android device (Samsung S7). Seriously? I direct Test Quality Engineering for a very large company and while I acknowledge that it is difficult to test on every Android device due to the enormous market of available devices, there are still things that can be done to assure test coverage on newer devices such as the S7. You can automate your tests and execute via cloud services such as BrowserStack or Saucelabs, both on emulators and real devices. Perhaps there is a regulatory requirement I may not be considering, but again there are things that can be done. At the very least, please provide a way to opt out of the nag screens.
Can't receive emails or invites or whatever it needs to follow directly from the device. I guess he needs to have some other phone/app receive from the device to send it on to me? Such janky software for such a modern device. Uninstalled.
App works great other than this feature using on a note 5 fast and pretty accurate just wish i could add pic of my sweet girl
Is a great way to keep track of my Grandson's numbers even when I'm not around him....when I'm watching him my daughter is always watching it in case I miss something. I'd highly recommend the program.... ( :
This app had been working great on my android, until the last month when I totally stopped receiving notifications. Please fix this issue!!!!!!!
Useless unless you also have an iPhone. Get with it Dexcom!
It was a good app but since my android software update it won't open. Keeps closing app as soon as you try to open it.
Does just the bare minimum that it needs to do but there is so much room for improvement. Nightscout is way better!
I love this app but the only thing that would make it better is if they showed calibration on the graph like they do when you log into the computer
I would give this app 5 Stars if it would let me upload a pic instead of stopping! This has been happening for 2 days now. FIX IT!
We use this app everyday and really like it.
I love this. I wish the device itself was more stable, but such is the tech.
Very disappointing
I don't have an iPhone you need to make an Android version seriously please
This app works great as a follow app to my son's primary Dexcom app on his iphone. This has been a game changer in his T1D care.
This app is A real life saver!!!!!
Dexcom don't respect it's customers who use android
Does this app work on android phones?
Love it
I have Android, my husband has iPhone. App works great for him. For me it's ok for a few hours before It quits working and somehow removes me from my son's Follow list. Have tried reinstalling without success. The app itself is great because it allows us to see my son's blood sugar numbers and trends. Just wish It worked with Android.
Galaxy note 4, software version 6.0.1 no longer works on my phone since updating to this software version. I am a school nurse and use this app daily to keep an eye on several students at once. PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FIX THIS!!
Tried to contact the app developers & nobody ever got back to me. I did receive an automated response saying that they received mine, but never anything else. This app works BUT takes about 20 seconds for it to show me what the number is. Alerts & everything works but it's just ridiculously slow when you just want to see the number. Needs a major update!
Please turn off annoying NOT TESTED message at startup. Once at install time is sufficient! The only thing worse than BG number inaccuracy is delaying it! App needs to be updated for Android 7.0 Nougat split screen support!
And they in fact said it does not work if you have android. They said it will be sometime after 2016 until the FDA approve the android version for use. That made no sense to me since both android and apple are linux based operating systems. Also... must have 1 apple product such as "I something" with Itunes account to send to an android account on Itunes. Made no sense to me again. I don't know anyone with an Isomething to even test it.
Loved this app up until a few days ago alerts have stopped working it has stopped showing any alerts or alarming during highs lows and no data I do have an android my son carries the iPhone to share with me and now I am constantly having to load to see what my son's sugars are instead of having it alarm for an issue so back to getting up and checking sugars until this is fixed not sure what changed was absolutely wonderful up until a few days ago
The data is great, but the alerts don't work very well. Audible alerts seems to have quit working altogether. Sometimes visual alerts work. Sometimes 5 will come through at once, and 4 of them are hours old. Our IOS devices do not seem to have these issues.
STILL waiting for the FDA to approve the Android version. Would like to have more than 5 followers. We have lots of devices & caregivers. Also, PLEASE add an option to text the Dexcom wearer within the app. My autistic son ignores alerts.
Please turn off annoying NOT TESTED message at startup. Once at install time is sufficient! The only thing worse than BG number inaccuracy is delaying any reading at all.
We use an out of service iPhone on WiFi to make the information available on our Android phones. Works great since she's only 13 so rarely away from us and WiFi at the same time. I wish the alerts/alarms did not override the silent feature on my phone. I am a college student and to ensure I don't disrupt class I have to edit and turn off all notifications individually. I would give 4 stars if I could turn them off with one button, and 5 if they didn't override my phone so I wouldn't have to turn them off at all. Silent notifications during class would be optimal!! Also, I know this would be a big addition, but it would be nice to be able to select a dot/area within the last 24 hours to see what the reading was. That might be way too much data on the cloud, but it would be helpful in identifying problems, etc.
Doesn't work with newest Android updates! Don't update to marshmallow! Now I can't follow my 5 year old!
This app worked wonderfully until the roll out of the G5 and the firmware update on the android phones. I use android. It worked fantastically....really upset that it's not reliable anymore. I does not give alerts reliably and it is so incredibly slow to load. Please update on your end so that I can watch my 6 year old daughter and make sure she's safe!!!!

This is the most important app I have. My wife has a device and sometimes her blood sugar levels just start dropping for no obvious, or at least consistently repeatable, reason. With this, I can act as a backstop when it starts dropping. Be aware you may need to uninstall, reinstall, and reinvite when updating the OS of the phone. This just happened to me going to Nougat (7.0). The fix was suggested by Dexcom tech support (open 24/7). LOVE this app.
