Detroit Free Press eEdition for Android
For a newspaper forced to go digital, they are in a world of trouble! Some days you just don't get a paper. The physical paper edition was far more reliable even with constant turnover of delivery people. Not sure how Gannett can stay in this industry. Hopefully someone else will assume the Free Press. The death watch continues.
Reads full articles and then repeats the continuation of the article when you get to that page. No start point, you have to click on any front page article and back up .sometimes you back up 10 articles . Edit for new version This version is worse than previous versions. Go back to Olive version. It worked fine
I just uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it. Won't recognize my 25 year old email as valid. Terrible app from a Terrible company. Don't bother, just go to another paper.
Just like the regular freep app, this one doesn't work either. You guys might want to hire better programmers or you are going to go the way of sears and kmart. Too bad
The app is very slow to load usually taking 2 trys. Today the E-paper does have Sections A or B, starts at the classifieds. Shame not better quality when it is part of the subscription.
It is so frustrating hitting on this app and looking at a blank white page. I try to pick a new page or story and see the same blank white page. The freep needs to go back to their old app.
After installing app on a chromebook, the app refuses to load after signing in..
Useless! Don't bother.
Love seeing the whole newspaper. I've had no problems loading the paper or reading the articles.
Not sure why everyone is complaining, it's a great app.
This is one of the worst apps I have ever used. It never opens on the first attempt and then frequently will stop responding. Surely the Freep can do better.
Continually loops back to login, can NOT read the paper as advertised in description, is veeerrryyyy slow and deserves only a half star.
The app does not own on the first attempt, and today would not open even after ten attempts. This app and the web browser edition is significantly worse than the old web browser edition. It is far and away the worse app I have ever used.
Slow loading if it loads. Many times have to completely exit program and start over. Very slow
Way too slow. Doesn't show the whole story. Half page is irritating. The previous version is much better.
This app never loads on the first attempt and constantly hangs up. Go back to the old app. Oh, wait that's from another owner of the freep...
Wow. Makes you wonder if they tested this app before rolling it out. Must have been a cost saving decision over the old one.
The whole move from the Olive software platform has been one disastrous disappointment after another. The app version of the Free Press may be the worst since nothing actually appears to load. The browser version is not much better since the article to article links bear little resemblance to the page content. Finally the inability to capture images of the puzzles has ruined the entire e-edition experience.
The old e edition reader worked well for me. I can't imagine that the people in charge think this app is acceptable. It shouldn't be so challenging to read the daily paper.
Can't open, called twice, was able to open briefly but could not next time.
It works very well on my 2 year old Samsung phone, and I like it more than previous Olive soft. However it won't run on my 4 year old tablet.
Does not work well and terrible company support
I've had this app 4 days and ive had to reinstall I it 8 times. Now it won't open at all
Terrible
Gannett/Detroit Free Press had a print edition reader for this paper, accessible to subscribers, which was working just fine, even onmobile devices but it was a browser link. Apparently this wasn't modern enough, so they eliminated that option in favor of this piece of crap. In spite of my using a high-end phone, I've yet to make it through a whole section. Ave forget trying to read the comics. This app will just shut down and one must begin all over from scratch. And then it ceases again!
Slow and unreliable

S-l-o-w to load and frequently s-l-o-w to navigate between pages. If this what passes for an electronic version of a print paper, I may drop my subscription and go with the free version. Far less irritating that way. If the NYTimes can create a competent newspaper app, Gannett can. You have 'til end of June to fix this piece of garbage or I'll cancel.
