Bricked.

This app doesn't even work on the latest Android OS. The bottom bar doesn't appear so you can't even access anything useful. And I didn't check until I arrived at the location of the detour. I am seething over this type of amateurish support. Sort your app out. I am not going to be recommending it to non- iOS users.

Had a lot of fun using this app for a number of San Francisco tours during a visit. It worked great, although access to some of the Financial District architecture sites was blocked when we used it over the weekend. Please expand to more cities.

We took the tour of the LA Disney concert hall. We would have miss a few of the most interesting stuffs without the app. The content is really interesting. The only minor problem is that the sound quality degrades when you switch to an other app ie for taking pictures.

Tours have a "make available offline" option, but after downloading and pressing play offline, they say "please enable wifi for a better experience" and won't begin. Would not have purchased if I knew they can't be listened to except on location. Why? Very clunky app execution, for a very nice idea.

I love that you can plan your day around a location and do this by yourself and feel at ease. It was very insightful which is very cool!

But with a few technical issues. First, the app needs to open with a map showing your location with a blue dot and all the stop/ start locations of the tours numbered in red + green dots. That would make it so much easier to efficiently plan a tour route. Second, need to have an option of not following GPS. I wasn't' going to Oakland but would have still love to listen to the Black Panther tour. Also, San Francisco whether is rainy and cloudy, makes GPS touchy.

Decent design, tours are well done and immersive. However, technical issues significantly hinder the experience. For example, the NYC Soho tour consistently crashes at a very specific point (right after the Fanelli's Cafe portion). Not sure if this is device specific, platform specific or due to some other issue--it occurred on a Nexus 6P. Due to this, I am unable to complete the tour.

It's unfortunate I have to give this app a low rating because I've been a big fan of this format of touring since soundwalks were released in NYC. Anyway, the app was a thorough waste of time for me and my friend. It kept crashing midway between our Soho tour. Buyer beware, especially on their Android app. **Update** I emailed the company about this experience and it's been more than a few days and they have failed to offer a resolution

I downloaded 2 guides for san francisco. It's not obvious that you have to check a specific box right at the bottom to listen to it offline. A pretty major problem since most people would listen to these in a foreign country. The guide was amazing. Loved every minute of it. It was as if I had a guide standing right next to me the whole time. But then I went over the hill to start the next tour in the Haight. The app just froze on loading even though I had chosen the offline version. Some work needed.

Checking "offline mode" doesn't download full tour content, only the beginning. Had to stop the tour in order to save data traffic...

Q70%
by Q####:

I have taken one tour and though the content was fantastic it was not without issues. GPS in downtown Chicago was not perfect (not the fault of Detour) and even though the tour was downloaded ahead of time it kept looking for a WiFi connection. Synch worked well until right at the end then became unbearable. Will still use again due to the tour content itself.

I grew up on the northside of Chicago and I have walked the streets of Wrigleyville countless times in my life. This Detour made me see this neighborhood in a new way. I got totally lost in the story. I laughed and cried. It feels as if the narrator is walking around with you. I definitely recommend this app and the Wrigleyville Detour!

Good technology to match the dialog to your location and place it. Sharing is well since too. The Castro tour in San Francisco is moving and informative

I bought the full SF tour with the intention of using all if them with my girlfriend, who has an iPhone. We arrived at the Transamerica Pyramid for the Cool Grey City tour, but as we went on, her tour started from the beginning almost every 5 minutes. It was very frustrating because I was enjoying it on my Android, but she couldn't. Eventually, when we got almost all the way to Coit tower, I tried to reset the app on mine and hers, but there was no way to pick up where we left off. It started from thebegin.

I'm using Detour to visit San Francisco. Discovering places I wouldn't have visit otherwise, learning about the city history while walking around. It's pretty easy to follow and the talks are really interesting!

Lots of technical problems, couldn't complete the Central Park tour. The tour itself seemed good but the app kept crashing, audio cutting out, and other problems.

UPDATE: Detour said they'd refund me due to all the issues and costs I had. Great, I thought. However, I've now had 3 weeks of email and Twitter silence. Nobody has responded to any of my messages asking them to go ahead with this. If anything, my opinion is now even lower. Nice idea, but Android app simply doesn't work. Really liked the concept so bought all the San Francisco Detours. Unfortunately, after downloading several for offline use and excitedly dragging my family out to try it, it didn't work at all. Had to pay $$$$ to use data roaming to try and sort the issue which obviously took a lot of time too. The Detour cut out half way through. Tried again several other times, again downloading on wifi in advance. Never got it to work. Also bought a ticket for the SFMOMA only to find after entering that the Android app doesn't include the SFMOMA tours despite being mentioned on the website. A real shame as it sounds cool, but the Android app is not release-ready.
