AdjBrightness for Android
(Galaxy S is only partly supported. It can work, but the screen might keep off after sleep. If you encounter this issue, Please reboot.)
Adjust screen brightness for *rooted* device from 2 ~ 255. Six predefined values can be customized by you. (Untick all settings in option activity to disable all the features.)
Main Features:
1. Can dim the screen to a very low level to save battery and your eyes.
2. Can lock the screen brightness so other application cannot changed it until you unlock it.
3. Can turn on/off the backlight of buttons.
4. Can lock the backlight of buttons and keep it always off or always on.
5. Can turn off the annoying blinking amber light while the battery is low.
***This is a full feature but Ad supported version. It needs several permissions to display the Ad.
Constantly requests su permission. Everytime I unlock the phone. Otherwise does exactly what I needed to fix the faulty operation of the button lights on my Motorola Droid 2 global.
Unfortunately getting same issue as bionic users. Says requires root but to backup confirms root. DOES still turn off button lights though.
Holy smoke's, this app is the stuff of legends and battery life hero's. Bn looking for ways to kill face softkey lights. AMAZING, Thank you much!!!!
Any value leads than 20 does nothing. So it's no better than what I can do on my own in settings
Yes! Finally an app that actually works at killing my stupid soft key lights so I can read my Kindle books without the annoying lights on all the time. Thank you!
Finally was able to turn off the little stupid backlights on HTC Eco 4G lte. Thanks!
I have a galaxy s2 and this app doesnt work at all! Other root apps work but not this one!
Huawi P8 Lite [Rooted/5.0.1]Twrp So, i opened the app and it asked for root permissions, granted them and tried to set the brightness - first buttons then custom value... It says that it doesnt have root permissions.
Screendim is better for lowering brightness and doesnt require root i keep this though because its the only thing ive found that will shut off the button lights on my triumph. 5 stars just for that.
I absolutely love this app! Had root dim it sucked! Main feature I like about this app is the availability to lock bottom back lights off! Root dim lock feature does not stay locked! Many thanks to the developer!
Worked great on my droid 2, doesn't work at all on my new droid 3. Says my phones not rooted (it is). D3 is only rootable since yesterday though, nbd
Tells me I'm not rooted right after SuperSU grants it permissions. Eh?
It says that it works only on rooted even my phone is already rooted
Optimus 2x
Detects my phone as non rooted after gaining su permission
Could use more detailed explanations on what each option setting does.
One x does not work. Unable to switch off buttons light.
I tried two other brightness programs and they didn't work. Android has a horrible feature where it's dimmed right down when it gets below 5%. This program (which requires root) overrides it and your phone is still usable and not still in complete darkness. If I'm out on a sunny day with less than 5% it doesn't matter anymore I can still see my screen!!
Using this app to bypass the android dimming feature built in when battery reaches 5%. I'm going through the 1st 5 cycles of a new extended battery. Yeah… that's 5 cycles from 100% to shutdown… now way I can wait that long (5% and below) with a dim screen.
Now I can use my phone late night without even my parents noticing :D
Doesn't work. Tells me it needs to be installed on a rooted device even though I have and granted it root permissions already. Dev please fix and update it.
I liked this app on my rooted moto droid. My rooted droid 4 isnt supported yet.
Said my device was not rooted and DISABLED THE BRIGHTNESS CONTROL ON SYSTEM SETTINGS, EVEN AFTER UNINSTALL. Rooted Galaxy S II
Keeps keyboard / button light nicely off after reboot on ICS (Arc S).
Perfect! now my eyes don't burn in the morning
Won't adjust brightness, but will lock off button backlights! Worked great on my old Droid X. :(
Not working on rooted LG P990
Running ICS ROM, disabled stock soft key backlight with this app. Works as advertised. Nice!
Doesnt work on HTC amaze with ICS. I just want to turn off the key back light.
AdjBrightness is great at setting the brightness and disabling button LEDs.
Does exactly what I wanted and was fast and simple.
Too much of a hastle for controlling screen brightness. Switched to Status Brightness app, much better.
Does not work on rooted droid bionic
Doesn't work on Samsung i9100
Has superuser access but then says it doesn't when you try to adjust brightness, but it does turn off the soft key light. Worked on my Droid 1 and Droid 2 Global perfectly though.
works on bionic to kill insistent button led's. Along with chainfire3d just made my day after missing so much of the greatness called cm7
Asks for root, when I am rooted. If this is a kernel issue, Dev should say so.
not the contrast controlling apps. this is genuine brightness controlling app. must use for root user
On Droid 2... Worked.beautifully. Now on Bionic, gives notification that app will not work unless device is rooted. I am rooted. SU is working

This app can come as close as possible to turning the screen off while still allowing the phone to function normally. Blind and visually impaired users who don't need the screen will definitely appreciate the extended battery life that comes from a super dim screen. I should note here that brightness settings below "20" appear not to survive a reboot, but I can just quickly run the app to fix this. In spite of this minor issue, this app still gets a 5 star rating.
