En La Puebla de Montalbán (Toledo), localidad de gran tradición cultural, entre otras cosas por ser la cuna de Fernando de Rojas, un amplio grupo de personas, que a su vez organizan un cine-club y un club de lectura, ha experimentado con sus actividades el vínculo que existe entre el cine y la literatura.

En el mundo del cine, -refiriéndonos a certámenes, muestras o festivales-, está muy generalizada la falta de reconocimiento del trabajo de los realizadores del “Séptimo Arte” que hacen películas sobre guiones adaptados. Es importante observar que ese “vacío” es muy significativo frente al sinnúmero de eventos que reconocen y premian la calidad y validez del guión original.

Los guiones de cine adaptados a una obra, cuyo soporte anterior fue el texto o la imagen de una novela, ensayo, teatro, o gráfico como en el cómic…, no tienen, desde nuestro punto de vista, un espacio en ese tipo de eventos que convierten al público en algo más que meros espectadores. Estos espectadores se convierten en “críticos” activos ante una obra recién vertebrada.

El interés que despierta para todo público o lector, amante de la cultura en general, el conocimiento e intercambio de sentimientos o reflexiones con los creadores en las distintas disciplinas de la cultura, literatura, pintura, música, etc., y en este caso el cine, nos ha llevado a plantear el nacimiento de este “Festival del Cine y la Palabra”.

Este Festival aspira a crear un espacio de encuentro donde tengan cabida aspectos que vayan más allá de la existencia de un mero guión cinematográfico adaptado, abriéndose a otras muchas facetas de la vida cultural e intelectual de nuestro país, de nuestra región, y su relación con el mundo del celuloide. Todas las personas que forman parte de la organización pertenecen a la Asociación Cultural “El viento de la luna” y es una labor que se realiza sin ningún ánimo de lucro.

La primera edición, celebrada en noviembre de 2009, fue un éxito de público y tuvo una gran acogida entre profesionales y aficionados al cine. Contamos con la presencia de varios nombres muy conocidos y tuvimos el honor de acoger el estreno de la última película de Vicente Aranda, “Luna Caliente”. El propio director y la actriz Thäis Blume compartieron con nosotros la proyección. En el año 2010 dimos un pasito más y estuvieron con nosotros profesionales de la talla de Terele Pávez, Esperanza Roy, Javier Aguirre, David Castillo, Andrés Migueláñez, Carlos F. Heredero y Antonio Santamarina, Paula Cancio, Gustavo Ron o Miguel Gallardo.

El año 2011 fue el definitivo para consolidar un festival de cine, que es mucho más que eso. Entre las películas proyectadas, tuvimos cuatro estrenos (tanto a nivel regional como nacional) y entre los nombres de los invitados están José Luis García Sánchez, Silvia Marsó, Canco Rodríguez, Adrián Lastra, Adriana Torrebejano, Pedro García Aguado, Silvia Alonso, David Temprano, Paco Roca…y aunque no pudieron acompañarnos, nos dejaron unas palabras en vídeo María León y Pedro Almodóvar.

En esta nueva edición seguimos apostando por la misma idea en el marco de una sede compartida, por segunda vez, entre Toledo y La Puebla de Montalbán, con un programa amplio que cubre un buen número de facetas cinematográficas y literarias.

No queremos dejar pasar la oportunidad de ratificar nuestro compromiso con la cultura a pesar de los malos tiempos que corren.

Nuestro interés no es otro que el de ser un escaparate amplio y libre que dé cabida a la reflexión y el pensamiento crítico a través del maridaje entre literatura y cine para contribuir así a la formación de una sociedad civil preparada ante los retos del futuro más inmediato.

Por último, sólo nos queda dejar constancia de nuestro agradecimiento a todos los que de una forma u otra nos ayudan a sacar este proyecto adelante año tras año. Sin ellos esta “locura” sería imposible.

The interest for all public or reader, lover of culture in general, knowledge and exchange of feelings or thoughts with the creators in the various disciplines of culture, literature, painting, music, etc., and in this case the cinema, has led us to raise the birth of this "Film Festival and the Word."

This Festival aims to create a meeting place where they have issues that go beyond the mere existence of an adapted screenplay, opening many other facets of the cultural and intellectual life of our country, our region and its relationship with the film world. All persons who are part of the organization they belong to the Cultural Association "The wind of the moon" and is a task that is performed without any profit.

The first edition, held in November 2009, was a popular success and was well received among professionals and moviegoers. We have the presence of several well-known names and had the honor of hosting the premiere of the latest film by Vicente Aranda, "Luna Caliente". The director and actress Thaïs Blume shared with us the projection. In 2010 we took a step further and joined us professionals Pávez Terele size, Esperanza Roy, Javier Aguirre, David Castillo, Andres Migueláñez, Antonio Carlos F. Heredero and Santamarina, Paula Cancio, Gustavo Ron and Miguel Gallardo.

The year 2011 was the final to consolidate a film festival, which is much more than that. Among the films, we had four premieres (both regional and national) and between the names of the guests are Jose Luis Garcia Sanchez, Silvia Marso, Canco Rodríguez, Adrian Lastra, Adriana Torrebejano, Pedro Garcia Aguado, Silvia Alonso, David Early Paco Roca ... and although they could not join us, we left a few words in video Maria Leon and Pedro Almodóvar.

In this new edition we remain committed to the same idea in the context of a shared office for the second time, between Toledo and La Puebla de Montalban, with a comprehensive program that covers a number of film and literary aspects.

We do not want to miss the opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to culture despite the bad times.

Our interest is none other than to be a wide open window and hospitable to reflection and critical thinking through the marriage between literature and cinema and to contribute to the formation of a civil society prepared for the challenges of the immediate future .

Finally, we can only put on record our thanks to all those who in one way or another help us get this project off year after year. Without them this "madness" would be impossible.
