新竹市為臺灣北部的一個市級行政區，屬於台灣次都會區的核心都市。新竹市一直是竹苗地區的行政中心和生活圈中心城市。1980年初期，新竹市區東郊擴建(1930年總督府創立 )成立以電子代工為核心的專業工業區—新竹科學工業園區。吸引了大批國內與國際廠商的投資，及許多高科技人力移居，帶動新竹市的發展與人口成長，成為有「臺灣矽谷」之稱的高度發展城市。因此，只要一提及新竹，大家第一個想到的就是新竹科學園區，反而使得新竹地區的美麗景點較不被民眾所熟知。本專題的主要目的是設計一個介紹新竹景點的手機APP程式，以協助一些想到新竹市遊玩的旅客進行導覽，其主要功能是會列出新竹市的特色景點的路徑與地圖，還有詳細的景點介紹，也附加手機定位和導覽功能。 Hsinchu City is a city in northern Taiwan SAR, Taiwan's second city will be part of the core area.
