evo - Super Car Magazine for Android
Updated, finally. Actually liked the previous layout better but at least I can finally read issues I had already paid for.
could not get it started, only late issues available, rubbish!!
Finally updated and working well on GS7. Excellent content as always.
Best car magazine
Update: app has been broken for a while now, doesn't work at all. Trying this out on my Nexus 7 (2013 model), it simply looks amazing, and is really nice to navigate. You get the same articles as the print magazine, but received throughout the month (a bit in advance of the magazine), instead of all at once, which I like. There are advertisements, but very few, and they are not obtrusive.
Good app and by far the best car magazine out there. I no longer bother with getting the hardcopy of the mag. Only slight issue I have is the Apple app used to have lots of imbedded video content that the android app does not appear to have. Not a big problem as I also subscribe to the EVO YouTube channel so it's not like I miss anything .
While Android 6 is out for some time, even latelly many commentsand feedback with low rating, the EVO app is not updated. I noticed that the support.feedback email attached with this app does not work, email bounce back as it does not exist. Contacted directly publisher - no update neither.
I've been an EVO subscriber for more than 10 years and after being forced to part with my large collection of EVO mags when I moved abroad I embraced the digital version. While the app isn't terrible there's the annoying issue of storage space. It's easy for the app and data to add to 700MB. What's worse is that there are no app settings in place for storage control and I can't even move the app to the SD card. How I wished EVO would pay me to do a better app... dream job for a high octane developer :-)
It's good and has effective navigation. However I think that there should be full access to the archives. I wanted to find articles on the E46 M3, for example Car of the Year 2001 but could not access it. A real shame.
Really sad about this but, unfortunately, the app is useless for Android based phones. Costumer service did not provide a solution and I'm stuck with the subscription fee and no magazine to read...
Crashes immediately on launch when running Android Marshmallow. Hasn't been updated in months. If you don't have another (meaning an iOS) device to access digital content then subscription is a rip off. May sound a bit strong but Evo don't seem to care that they're taking your money without providing the product.
I'm paying a subscription for this service and this app isnt compatible with the latest version of android. Really?? This needs to be made a priority or else you'll lose other sub's too. Unsubscribed.
Preferred the old app, it had a nicer layout and navigation. I also preferred downloading the content/articles I would read as opposed to downloading an entire issue. Still, at least the new app works on newer devices from the last 2 years - the old one didn't run on a lot of devices - so that's a big improvement !
But nothing serious, opens without problems again. Maybe a memory problem on my galaxy tab 2
Crashing on both xperia and nexus with the last Android. Give my money back! :-P
Did not work under Android 6 and does not work under Android 7. Email for feedback does not work. Contacting the publisher directly has made no difference. Avoid at all costs.
Gutted, paying for the android subscription but it isn't compatible with android 6. Please fix! Such a great app normally.
UPDATE tried to email app support and it just bounces back so you can't even report directly, 24 Hours and i am going straight to Google. Since the 6.0 update I can't open the application. This is a subscription so will I be getting a refund for the days I can't access the app?.
2 years ago I would not have imagined being happy with an App version of a car magazine, but this App works a treat and I might stop subscribing to the paper copy altogether now. Nice work!
Fun to read when you don't have a copy of Evo around, but why bother locking articles? Instead please consider putting only some on here, its the user experience that sucks. Tbh I doubt you will get many subcribers by showing them locks anyway
As I am using ebooks more than 5 years, decided to try the app instead of the printed version. Having 2 years experience with app, I found myself not reading the magazine anymore. I suppose I still prefer printed version. Nevertheless, app is too slow even with a 100mbit connection and takes ages to replicate sometimes. Usability is OK except the repository. Getting every month downloaded one by one annoys me and sometimes what I have downloaded gets lost. Hope there will be soon a better version.
Still not working on marshmallow after months of marshmallow being on phones. I have a year subscription and I can't use it because marshmallow is not supported yet. When it will get support, maybe when the next Android N will be out.
Gutted to have to edit my feedback. The app does not work on Android 6! My first attempts to alert the team of the bug literally either got ignored or just pushed off. After a month of trying they finally emailed me to say they acknowledge there is a fault and to keep trying a fix is coming. That was a month ago and it still doesn't work! I'm paying a subscription but can't read my magazine anymore!! Shouldn't take this long to fix!! Totally not cool!!! ( Here is my original 5 star feedback for completeness.) It's amazing what you miss when you live abroad. A decent cup of tea, silver spread marmalade and a decent car mag! I have bought the printed version of Evo since the beginning so the content has always been first rate in my book. The early bugs on the app seem to be a thing of the past and the level of interactive content is growing. I don't miss the printed word at all and the fact that I can read it on any one of my many Android devices is marvelous.
Great app that really brings the look and feel of the magazine in a convenient and browseable format. The app's a bit data and memory heavy, but perhaps that's unavoidable given the format and content. The variety of subscription methods is confusing and I have occasionally found myself locked out of articles even as a subscriber.
Doesn't work with latest android version. Certain articles can't be accessed. Fobbed off by customer service months ago. Couldn't recommend to anyone.
I have bought the magazine since issue 1. It's still the best car mag bar none. The app is good and the subscription is excellent value. I would like a reading history, or at least, the ability to return to where I left off. Otherwise, a pretty good effort. Thanks.
The content is great as ever but the app lets itself down with rough edges. For example the subscription check doesn't work when offline effectively blocking access to most of the content you've paid for when on flights. Giving the same level of thought and polish the magazine has always been known is essential to do the world class content justice
Marshmallow has been out for at least three weeks across most devices and no update. Happy to take customers money though!
The magazine is fantastic but with no Android 6 support I've had to cancel my subscription.
No Android Marshmallow support even though its been out for a few months now. Currently unusable.
This was one of the only apps that I have taken time to rate, did give it 5 stars but now due the fact that it is now not working on android 6 I have reviewed that down to one star. I left comments about this months ago and nothing has been done about it - this is an app that we pay a subscription for - this is totally unacceptable what is going to be done about this?
I used to spend most of the time waiting for article to be downloaded. Lately, since the last update, it simply crashes right away. Very consistently....
Doesn't work on Marshmallow so time to cancel my subscription. Shame, but it's only a magazine. Bye Evo.
Unfortunately the app refuses to open on my nexus 7, and it has been over a month that I've been unable to read Evo while paying for my subscription.. Skip for now... Original review: Evo is a premier magazine, and the app further builds on Evo's legacy. You get not only the magazine that you've always loved, but also up to the minute news and updates along with all the back issues you can handle.
After upgrading to Marshmallow the app no longer works - it doesn't even load! Come on Evo, sort it out! Guess it was a mistake to upgrade my subscription to include the digital version. Yours one rather disgruntled subscriber.
Frequency of updated content is the biggest problem. It can go for a couple of weeks or more with no new content. Also in general use the app can be a little stuttery.
App has some good features but disappointing that it lists articles in older magazines - anything before March 2014 but the app always fails when you try to view them. If the articles aren't there then why list them?????
Crashes constantly and I forgot my subsinfo password and I emailed them a lot trying to get my account back buy they haven't replied

Thank you evo team for finally releasing an app which is compatible with modern Android releases. Can we get the read/unread marker back on the article choice page, please?
