Definitive Technology for Android
How is it that I have the top of the line sound bar but I can't use play music or the true surround sound like the micro w studio. I don't care the w studio sounds better I want the same or better features.
I have Pandora one. Doesn't work most times. Or constant thinking.
I was surprised to not have Google Play Music or Apple Music as streaming options.
Would rather have blue tooth then the Wi-Fi set up. Can't play from my music, says unable to read format. Also the play back quality isn't the best. Would like to see more app options SOON. My main two music apps I use are not part of your list.....please hook a brotha up!
Works fine, but I wish I could use it to turn off the piercing white wifi led on the front of my W9
Look, everyone knows that def tech as a brand is phenominal. Great sound at reasonable prices. Personally own the micro soundbar, and from a audiophile preformance stand-point, it is fantastic. That sub is rediculous for a soundbar sub. The highs are ok, but midrange and lowes are great and for a soundbar, the imaging is better than expected. Love it from a sound view, but this app is rubbish. I cannot go for 3 minutes without a crash. Its not my network either, as I have a Luxul system with multi wap support. Getting a solid 100 meg download over wi-fi! Thats not the issue, it is this app. FIX IT!
Not intuitive at all. And I work with apps! Somehow I accidentally combined my speakers into one name. Can't figure out how to un pair them. I've been setting two stupid speakers up for several hours. Where's the simple Connect New Speaker button? Or Disconnect Speaker? Ugh UPDATE: And "Switch" does not work. Tried clicking every button. Nope. Nexus 6p. FYI... I figured out most basics, but this app is horrible.
Speakers sound great when they work--about 30% of the time. I should not have listened to the Best Buy Magnolia "expert." I spent thousands on multiple speakers for my home and regret doing so. Wish I went with my original choice, Sonos. HUGE BUYER'S REMORSE.
These products are frustrating to set up and they don't even stay configured right. Definitive seems to be learning as they trudge along. Tech support answers quickly, but does not follow up with what they promised to do. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Makes me want to return the sound bar.
The application keeps losing the connection, causing me to relaunch the app. Also Amazon should give you access to all your music on Amazon, not just Prime Music. Lastly, I would like to see the DefTech Utility app and the music app all in one place in one app.
Horrible product even worse App. Do yourself a favor and avoid this like the plague. Sonos is a much more mature product and is perfectly stable.
Useless, DT add Google play apps.
For the price of the products can't they pay an adult to design the app?
Keeps losing connection
I own a W9 and 8 W7s Great Speakers Great Sound Great Wireless Features
Speakers and sub is great. I give it 3 stars because the app could be so much better if given more options of music apps. Currently you can play amazon music stations, your own music, Pandora, songza, and a few others. However, no option for Google Music! Those who use apple, I don't believe there is an option for iTunes.
W7 is an awesome speaker. Now the app that keeps crashing is not. I can even play 3 seconds of rhapsody or Pandora not even Tidal without this thing crashing. I had to go buy a SONOS play5 because of this. Customer support kept telling me it was my wireless network so I went through 2 nighthawk hawk routers, gave the speaker a static ip and dmz'd it but nothing. Also my ISP is running at 150Mbps so that should not be an issue. Thank god the bipolar speaker I purchased are not wireless like this W7.
Have to re-pair devices every time I connect.
The speakers are amazing but why the hell they didn't just give us Bluetooth streaming rather than a subpar app makes no sense. The are not enough music services choices! No Google Play!? No iTunes/Apple Music!? That is laughably bad judgement on the company's part.
This app is completely garbage. I've spent the last 3 days trying to connect this to the sound bar and it's not working! I followed there directions and even spoke to someone to help set it up with thumb drive and guess what!? Still no control with my phone. This app is useless
Keeps losing connection with speaker when using app on Samsung S7.
Needs better app support
Other comments spot on. Can't install similar apps on multiple devices. Lots of connectivity issues. Ongoing updates don't seem to add much value. Find radio choices get dropped for unsupported format while I'd found the station using the app! Have 3 of these and now wonder what I was thinking?
Dream: Hey, a wireless audio standard with a big name behind it! Reality: There's no way anyone invested serious resources into this. Dream: High quality multi-room audio. Reality: 3-10 interruptions per song, even with excellent connectivity. Dream: Transport capable of multi-speaker sync. Reality: 6-second delay (wow!) in audio stream with sync active. There's absolutely no technical reason to require this, besides terrible design. Dream: Simple process to update speakers. Reality: Terrible update reliability, majority of which fail part-way through. It's only a matter of time until I brick my $1800 speakers. Dream: Multiple sources supported. Reality: Very few sources actually work. If you only use Spotify, you may be satisfied. If you use something like Rhapsody, it doesn't even exist. Dream: Live audio for TVs. Reality: If you don't care that you have only one audio channel (not even stereo, much less surround), then this almost works.
This is a very nice app, but I hate having to physically get up and switch between inputs on the W Amp. I absolutely hate it. I have a Bluetooth receiver (because Tidal is still unavailable) and my television connected to my W Amp and they sound great, but if and when I want to switch between any of them I have to actually come into the room and press the button on the top of the Amp to do so..not for nothing, but it's 2015 and Definitive Technology is a great company.. you guys are better than this.
The speakers sound really nice. I do get the occasional hiccup now and then with something not working. Updates to the stability of the app would be appreciated!
Definitive Technology makes great stuff
The Greatest sound
2 def speakers and a phorus speaker in my setup. Things were working pretty well until this most recent update. Now Spotify is glitchy and nearly unuseable. I love the sound, but this needs to be patched asap please.
It worked OK at first, but then just quit and opens to a lets begin page and just sits there. Uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times and it still doesn't work. The app is on a droid phone. Sad when the speakers cost what they do and the app is mediocre.
I really want to like this app. I love the speaker system but the app from my experience had been pretty unstable. I continously run Pandora through the app, the issue is when a song ends and the phone is "asleep" it will not continously play music. I have to wake the phone up and then go to the Definitive app to get it playing again . I was running it on my Samsung S4 and I upgraded it to an S6 thinking that was the issue but I am still having problems. Has any one else experienced this?
Basic. Needs to have an option for iHeartRadio and an EQ (w/o having to purchase the W Adapt). Then I'd give it 5 stars.
Sonos is way better, this is a copycat will take forever to catch up with Sonos .. hard to set up, poor selection for online services , overpriced products
Nice connectivity, w/some cool features
Update: Had to remove a star, instability and disconnects too often. Limited functionality, need to be ironed out can't add individual songs to queue from media server? Whatever song is selected can only be immediately played. Hopefully this functionality will be on it's way
They finally added Spotify as advertised and the speakers and W Amps work great. I have 5 W Amps and they work great with my in ceiling klipsh speakers. The app itself is more stable then before crashing less often. These were the only wifi amps I found that were 300 watts. Sonos has nothing that compares to this. Thank you Definitive Tech for making these amazing amps and speakers.
Just get sonos
Thank you for (finally) enabling Spotify support. That was the missing link in what otherwise was an awesome product (I have the W7 which packs a mean punch in a small size). Thank you, thank you!

I can't access my Google Play Music, but Sirius, Pandora and my Plex media server work. I've had this app for a while and it has gotten better... Still a little buggy, but is really good once you get it working... I have an amp and a W7 speaker set up I two rooms and the sound quality is great - much better than Sonos crap
