HanDBase Database Manager for Android
I have been using this app since the Palm Pilot days. I have a dozen different data bases that I created and use all the time. It does everything that I need. Now that Brian is actively working on it again, it can only get better. I have contacted him on a couple of occasions and he is always very friendly and helpful. Thank you Brian!
This really is a powerful app and I recommend it. I used to have problems with fonts not displaying at the right size, it was irritating but now that problem has been fixed and it's just great.
The latest update seems to have fixed the resizing issue; now if our the new thumbnail didn't look like a washing machine...
I'm happy to see this app is now being worked on. We got an update to fix the font issue on newer phones. For a while, the iPhone version was getting more attention. I've been using this app a long time and have data all the way back to the Palm Pilot days. Not everyone knows what this is or why a database is handy, it's been one of my staple apps for years! If you keep track of any data, buy it! ------- For older version: I've use this app for years, but it's been abandoned by the developer sadly. I'll probably move my data somewhere else now.
GUYS JUST A SEC AND READ THIS BEFORE UPDATING! After updating the app on my Nexus5 on Android 6.01 fixed the height of lines on the List view much bigger no matter how adjusting its font size. Now I can only see 2/3 information compared of before updating. DDH team, please fix it. this update has given only frustration to me.
Very good app. Used it starting when it was a windows mobile app. List view used to be spaced incorrectly on my phone but that was fixed on this new update.
Terrible update. Screws up all font sizes and has huge separations between entries now. How do I go back to the previous version?
Latest update Sept 2017 is very good. Solved font problems.
Been using it since Palm days, then iPhone, now switched to Android. Glad to here it's actively being updated, because it still needs work. iPhone version is better in a few ways. Still it's the only one of its kind.
Latest update screwed up formulas. DB unusable.
Font sizes fixed, thanks for the rapid response!
Thank you so much for giving some development to this fine app after so long neglecting it. May it continue to be viable for a long while.
Best "serious" database program for hand held devices bar none.
Right after the update, the list view font is huge and the edit screen font is tiny. Go to preferences and change the font size for these 2 displays and it's beautiful. Much better than the squashed font in the previous versions. Much appreciated! Now just needs sync between devices (maybe Dropbox) to be perfect!
Thank you for the new update! improved font scaling is a major advance making handibase much easier to use on handheld devices. For those complaining that this app is difficult to use, remember this is a relational database: There is going to be a learning curve. But with a little bit of effort and patience, you can create custom applications that run on your handheld, and windows, linux and apple.
I have used this app for years - I'm rather analysis about data. I must say I was surprised with this update due to the display fonts. I struggled and found in the list of databases a drop down where I could adjust the font size for all my databases. I would have thought it would be database dependent and not app dependent.
I have used this app since 1999 (on the Palm) and love it's functionality and simplicity. I keep track of my clinic accounting and patient information services with it.
Upgrade is awful.
Best database app there is.
I upgraded from a Galaxy S4 Mini with Kitkat to a Galaxy S7 with Nougat. Now, when I open any db the records overlap each other and it is hard to select a record. Both phones have the same data and the current version of Handbase. PLEASE FIX THIS. It is a great product, but needs to be fixed for Android 7.0.
Old Palm & Symbian user. This app works well on my S7. Good bang for Buck. Doesn't understand font scaling in later Android versions so lists look wrong. Forms still ok. Getting about time for an update?
Used on Palm, now Android. No isues with data across platforms. Developers very responsive and quick to address issues even at holiday periods as occured at New Year. Recommended. EDIT : Development has largely ceased, and is unlikely to be further updated. Still works, but for how long before an Android change trashes it remains to be seen. Still 5 star for operation and features, but cannot recommend for new starters.
The score is given because of the lousy customer service. There are suggestions and questions that I would like to get from the company, but there is no easy way. The support forums use TapaTalk, but are not allowing new registered members, and the support email asks for information that has nothing to do with my questions, and the email is never sends. I quess they love the money, but not theier customer.
Have used this app for many years, from Palm PIM days till now. App on Android has never been fully developed. No updates since Jan. 2014. Such a shame. Still useful though.
But in android the inability to see a full line in the list view is just about to send me looking for a new app. The company was looking into the problem a couple of years ago and nothing has changed. I think that their lack of commitment to the Android platform makes this not worth paying for.
Abandoned,; No updates for over two years. I've used this app for a few years. It's a good database maker or you can use templates. However the developer has seem to abandon the app. There have been no fixes or updates. I will now have to find a new app.
Have used HanDBase daily for many years, and have moved HDB and my data between several devices and operating systems in that time. I like its customisable features and endurance. My only real criticism is the "search" function, which I find only works intermittently, and is not the most efficient to operate.
Easy to use. Android version rarely updated and missing features the old Win mobile and palm versions had years ago. Lost all data with last Android update. Was able to restore dbs with old data from my pc.
I have used this since the old Palm days. Developer has abandoned this. I'm a registered user. Crashes all the time. I suggest switching to Memento Database.
I've used this app for years, but it's been abandoned by the developer sadly. I'll probably move my data somewhere else now.
Row height is too small with no way to adjust it, so line data is difficult to read. Love, love, love the app, but this issue needs attention quickly.
Fantastic App. Use it to track all my clients and my sales taxable sales so I can report them to the state properly. Now if I could just get it to keep a running total of the sales by tax jurisdiction I would give it 5 stars.
I have been using HandBase Since the very early says of PDA's. It's been one of the most frequently used app on my mobile device since. There may isn't any mobile database apps out there that is anything like it. Which is surprising given how useful and versatile this one is. It is actually quite a powerful program once you get into the depths of using many if it's tools. Thus is a must have app in my book.

There are good free DB apps available. Still, I had this app on my previous PDA, and I wanted access to my DBs, plus the laptop version means data can be "shared" across platforms, and after installing it, I found some nifty templates available for download. The one I use almost every day is a shopping list... I have tweaked it to my usage (a very flexible app!), and I especially like the checkmark "cell type" since I can toggle an item in a single touch instead of 3 steps - open item, toogle value, & save.
For some unknown reason (at least I can't figure it out), there are very few database apps around. Every office suite seems to cover all the bases, even Microsoft for every productivity program there is, except the database (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and even Outlook, but no Access.) Why? I have been using HanDBase since Palm OS days, and continued when I got my iPad and now my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5. It works well for the most part, but I am extremely bothered by the way the Android version of it is so far behind the Apple version (still no Barcode scanning ability or external field support.) Updates happen so seldom it feels like an abandoned app. The form ability is a complete mess. As a long time user I really want this to be a 5 star app, but it's almost like Android support is an afterthought. I didn't feel cheated when I paid $10 for it on my iPad, but the Android version is only worth $5. It really doesn't seem to have many more features than my Palm OS version all those years ago. If there was a version of Smart-Lists-To-Go from the Palm OS days, I grab it, but as it is HanDBase is pretty much the only database app available on Android that comes close to what I need.
I used to use this almost daily on a Palm device and then iPod and was a big fan. However I haven't been impressed with it on Android mainly due to the white on black colour scheme which when you have vision problems is difficult to use. I was hoping the developer would actually develop this app but it appears unchanged from nearly 18 months ago so looks like he's given up and I've wasted my money. Now using Sailforms Plus which is a good replacement for my use.
Really disappointed. Had this program many years ago, it good vs what was out there. Just installed new version-find it much more difficult to navigate, row heights are inadequate, custom forms is all I really want and the overall structure is awkward, un-intuitive, and worse. They have gone significantly backward. On top of all -you can't get your money back. I am going to think twice, maybe three times before I pay for any more apps, the free ones are about as good as the paid and they are FREE.
I have used this ap probably over 10 years. It has been great, but recently opened it to find all my databases gone. I am not totally backed up to date, so too bad for me. It is a very useful program, but please keep backed up. Edit: my backup was not as old as I thought, apparently the clean master program may have deleted the databases.

This is a really good basic database tool. I like the simplicity and being able to create a db on the fly. At first I was disappointed that certain features were not available. Then, I realized that my need for buying it was very simple and specific. As much as I do really like it, I'm not sure ten bucks is what I would pay if I weren't in immediate need. On the other hand, I've spent about as much on other apps I only used once. So, I suppose it all balances out. It truly is the perfect application for creating a simple and quick database. Great app developers!
