Ever wake up in the middle of the night to check your phone, only to be blinded by the light? Your phone is on the lowest brightness setting but it still burns your eyes? Never have that happen again!
Super Dimmer not only dims your phone lower than the manufacturer or other third-party apps allow you to, but it also turns off the hardware buttons' backlight, and automatically turns itself on at night and off in the morning! It is also highly configurable - change the dimness level, when to turn on, when to turn off, etc.
You can also launch the application whenever you want, even if it is not night time. Worried about being obnoxious at a movie theater? No problem! Just launch this app, set it to manual mode by checking the "Ignore Power Toggle" button, and never feel self conscious again.
Due to popular request, I've reverted the app to allow for a clearable notification, this time with a setting. (notification can be completley hid in PRO version). However, due to the way Android works, checking this setting will lead to unstable behavior. It is NOT recommended. To avoid bright flashes, leave this setting as-is, with the non-clearable notification.
It has also been shown to save battery on certain devices (most Samsungs, Moto RAZR / RAZR MAXX, Nexus, and most Nokias)
Don't forget to add Super Dimmer to your exception list if you use a task killer!

Or, buy the Pro version which has a notification icon with the ability to toggle the dimmer on and off :P. Note: Turning on the screen sets the dimness according to the time of day, if "Ignore Power Toggle" is unchecked (OFF by default). If it is checked, dimmer only turns on manually.

The "ignore power toggle" feature is always active (checked or unchecked in the preferences). So you can't turn this app off if the room lights are on (YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR SCREEN).

There's a few problems. The "clearable" notification comes back on it's own, and actually makes your phone VERY buggy. Also, sometimes the app decides to turn on by itself, and if you're outside, you can't even see the screen to turn it off. That's a huge problem.

Androids seem to have a high brightness even on the lowest factory setting, this app saves you from the pain and strain! One bug to note, on my HTC ONE (M8) the home buttons etc are as bright as day, again I stress that this is likely a bug and look forward to the fix.

THE #1 must-have app for all of us "Up All Nighters" nursing years of eyestrain. I expect using this app will help to reduce the number of migraines I have, significantly. Only gave it four stars because it works great for what I need it to do. Havent tried to see if any other features will crash the app or whatever. Definitely enjoying the dimmer screen beyond the manufacturers level

This app works fine when it works, all good control settings but it seems to have several instances running at once when I view all open apps, I end up having to close 3 copies running together. Also, if a tiny few pixels could be left bright with where to End the dimmer in case it accidentally turns on, that'd help A LOT :)

This works as advertised most of the time. However it randomly reverts to full brightness on unlock, blinding in the middle of the night. It may be a timing issue after the screen unlocks. Will gladly buy the paid version if this gets fixed. CM 10.1 Samsung Galaxy S2
