Velodroid Free for Android
Used to be good, hasn't been updated in two years and no service any more for elevation. Decent minimalist app if you want to just log flat rides and absolutely nothing else
As far as the information this app provides, there are far better options out there, and the "graphics" are really outdated.
I like it, but the fix elevation function does not seem to work at all, ever. During a ride it seems to know the elevation details, but saved rides never have elevation data and the fix elevations function fails everytime. I really like the voice status updates, would like to see this configurable choose what you want to hear and what you don't, current time of day option might be nice. Also, automatic upload to ridewithgps option would be nice, or at an "upload all" button would suffice.
Elevation function not showing. Nothing impressive about the app.
App is good, lacks photo waypoints and Bluetooth sensors integration
It collects data properly but the UI is a wreck. The summary doesn't work in landscape mode. Sometimes tabs appear on the bottom of the screen and they don't render correctly. Layering the route over Google Maps causes the image tiles to flicker and reload constantly until the app becomes unresponsive.
Very impressed by app, and am about to buy the paid version. The power saving mode makes it better than the other cycling apps I've used.
Great app, have upgraded to the paid version and am really happy with it.
Very light design, all is seen. Shows precise elevation. But which cycling app has no HRM(ant+,bluettoth and etc.)? Also to use it like a bike computer you need another color theme, for example white on black. And must be added some display timeout settings. And it will be nice if there was option to connect cadence sensor. Then I'll buy app
I tried a bunch of cycle computer apps and liked this one the best. -- It records useful data including max elevation, elevation gain, max gradient. -- Easy to use. -- Doesn't require you to create a username/password anywhere. The free version has a limited number of rides (I think 40) before you have to upgrade; I don't think the paid version has any new features. A couple of features are buggy: -- "Fix Elevations" has never worked for me. It just fails every time. -- "Upload to RideWithGPS" usually works, but sometimes fails. Don't know why; no useful error message is given, just "failed".
Have to upload files to some website, but you can export too. Best feature is that it resumes after mobiile has done a crash reboot. But it does not warn when gps is off. It just doesn't start recording then. It's a limitedv edition & doesn't warn so 1 day you're in the middle of nowhere & works no longer. 1 star less for that.
Full bucket of features - very good. But - It takes enormous time to lock on to GPS. All alternative apps are happily displaying the movement, this one - still 'waiting for GPS". It can be another 5 minutes until first indication comes out. Very annoying. Also, would stop displaying speed randomly while on the go.
Love this app. Used to use Strava, far prefer this!
Velodroid may not be perfect be perfect but it is good. Let me explain. 1. It doesn't force you to enter or sign up for various social/sport networking sites. For some of us this makes a difference. 2. It interfaces quite easily with ridewithgps. At least in Greece, this one of the most active route finding sites. 3. It seems to go fairly easily on the battery; esp. in low power mode. 4.It doesn't overwhelm the rider with a lot of- most likely- useless statistics. 5. At least for me, the kilometer readings seemed to be quite accurate as compared with my cateye computer. I will by buying the paid version.
Been using this app with a HTC EVO 4G 3D for just over a week. It runs GREAT! I love it. I can't say enough good about it. I was thinking about a Garmin for the bike, but why? I have Velodroid and it's even better! My Garmin Zumo on my Harley locks up sometimes and this app hasn't yet! I love the fact I can share my rides, and I upload them all to RidewithGPS. I plan on using that even with my Harley for mapping rides. All in all, A+++ Best app I have downloaded to my phone, period! Try it, you'll love it! I would like a "Pause" button during ride recording for when you stop and talk to someone you run into along the way.....
After one quick 5.6 mile test ride; The speed read-out is not so accurate. Compared to my wired bike computer it is off between 0.5 mph to 1 mph at any given time. No comment on the other features. I also noticed that it drank battery juice like you wouldn't believe ( with the screen left on ) The only other GPS unit I've ever compared to a wired unit is the Garmin I used to use in my work car. The Garmin was very accurate ( but then again the car has an analog speedometer). I have a Garmin 705 for my bike but I've never used the speed readout on it. I might just have to hook it up again so I have something to compare it to. Personally I just have a feeling that GPS apps aren't going to give a real accurate read out when it comes to "Your speed at the moment". Come to think of it, the app doesn't even have a decimal point so it can't display half MPH or half KPH readings. Sadly this might be the norm for all GPS apps that give speed read outs.
Good and accurate tool but the interface is not nice
The functionality looks great but the UI is very poor. It doesn't fit the screen in the landscape mode, (even though I have a 5.5"" screen) and there is no option to change the theme, I do not like the ugly pink&white GUI. Black background would be great for Amoled screens.
Please give a colour option! :-(
Loses gps randomly on SGS3. The gps signal is fine, as other programs show location; and location notification icon shows solid lock. Ads are also annoying.
I like: RideWithGPS integration I don't like: Visual appearance. I hate Barbie Pink, and generally the layout is crude looking. No option I can find to override the system screen timeout. Not much point in displaying the current speed in big letters if the screen is black and locked. If, once you stop a track recording, there's a way to discard it rather than having to save it, find it in the logs, and then delete it, I haven't found it. Locus's track record function has none of the above problems, though there are other issues. I might go with Strava.
If the free version is so great cant imagine the pro version. Does what it says.
Good app but it needs a pause function. Preferably an auto pause feature, but manual pause would also work fine.
Very happy. Easy to use, accurate data and easy uploading.
Great
Does what it should, doesn't kill the battery (HTC Rezound). Very happy with this.
A little too pink for me lol. Good app otherwise.

Impressive features and a really simple screens. Definitely upgrading to the paid app.
