pLog Tablet

The folks at plog are very helpful and accommodating. The integration process was smooth and efficient. I would recommend this to any enviro/engineering firm looking to standardize and speed up their logging process. Works well with our logplot software.

We have used paper logs for a long time, and it is very cumbersome to enter data into logging software. This past August 2014 we switched to PLog and have reduced our log creation time significantly. Data Forensics have great customer support and the PLog software is fast and thorough. They provide a PC based configuration tool which allows users to customize every aspect of the application. I would highly recommend this application and service to any firm looking to expand their drilling and exploration capabilities.

We've just completed a large scale geotechnical investigation and I sincerely believe we would be drowning in logs for months after the last boring was drilled if it was not for PLog. It's a huge timesaver and eliminates spelling errors and silly mistakes. You can customize the options available to an incredible extent, although it does require a significant time investment to become proficient with the configuration tool. The customer service is amazing! The developer himself spent many, many hours with me ensuring that I knew what I was doing and that our plog files were compatible with our Gint library. The company really takes suggestions to heart and I've seen some of my own suggestions become a part of the next update! This is well worth the time and money for any size project

Our company has been using Plog since about 2005. I was well accustomed to the PDA version of Plog before the transition to Tablets. I thought PLog worked well on ruggedized PDAs. As with all hardware and software, however, there is always room for improvement. Admittedly, learning Plog in a tablet format has been in some sense re-learning to ride a bicycle. But I strongly advocate that tablet usage is a great leap forward in efficiency and marketability. Field data upload time has been substantially reduced by means of the Cloud. Efficiency and comfort level of logging in the field with the tablet increases with each project as I learn how to navigate quickly between various fields. To Dataforensics' credit, Plog software has continued to evolve to keep pace with technology and demand. A big part of the software's viability and evolution is Dataforensics' willingness to listen to its customers' feedback. They have always been supportive of suggestions and responsive when I have had technical questions.

Plog really cuts down on the paper logs and allows any of our field staff to enter their own logs. Its quite user friendly but experience with gint helps. It's worthwhile to spend time with it before actually hitting the field with it, but it's pretty intuitive. The dropdown descriptions also help limit typos. With a bit of patience, the app proves its worth on a daily basis

The tablet app for plot is a big improvement over either the old Palm-based logger or paper logs. The cloud backup allows you to securely save edits even away at the hotel or allow those in the office to enter the data into gINT or another log program before you get back in. The customizable fields serve as a great checklist in the field to capture all observable data needed to accurately classify the soil. When logging is complete, just upload to your log program, make a few small edits if required and print. Much faster than transcribing paper logs. The staff at Dataforensincs are great if you have questions about installing or using the app as well.

The current Plog app is a huge improvement from the previous PDA version. It, first, streamlines the process of producing borehole logs through one time data input in the field which reduces entry and review time in the office. Second, it allows users to reduce the amount of data input by copying previous layer descriptions. The “Log Review” feature is a great idea. It helps logger at a glance and while sitting on the drill rig to review a complete layout of the borehole log similar to a paper log and thus makes any correction actions while in the field. The staff at Dataforensics is very knowledgeable and helpful. They provided very good technical help to customize the app to meet the company’s expectations. I highly recommend Plog.

pLog has provided our company with the ability to much more efficiently collect data electronically in the field and eliminate time associated with double entry of data. We have realized reduced log preparation time, increased efficiency, increased quality and decreased review time in producing our boring logs. With the new Tablet version, the data entry has been streamlined, the data transfer has been simplified and the draft report production has become "real time." Scott's company is very helpful and amenable to making changes that allow the software to be customized to a company's individual needs. Highly recommended.

pLog has greatly increased my efficiency and report productivity as a field scientist. This program allows me to create and review logs in real time, photograph samples and site activities, and upload data so that project managers can access logs and photographs through the cloud. I have used pLog on a PDA and clicking through and viewing descriptions in each menu took time; but pLog on a 10-inch tablet allows more menu options to be viewed on the screen reducing time in collecting data and improving soil and rock descriptions. pLog reduces office work time and cost and increases user output and capabilities. The staff at Dataforensics is helpful, responsive, and willing to make changes to the pLog configuration that accommodates our projects' needs. This is one of my most important field tools and I highly recommend this product to other field personnel.
