Tinfoil for Facebook

For the last two weeks it won't allow opening messages (the app just closes each time I try) on both tablet or smartphone, which renders it useless really. I've reported the issue 3 times and had no reply. Time to uninstall. Goodbye Tinfoil for Facebook, Hello Metal for Facebook

I used to use it a lot, but it came to a point that it won't connect to Facebook anymore. Also, I hate how everytime I go to an external link, it refreshes back to the top screen. This app has unfortunately has seen better days. It should be made obsolete since the developer long abandoned it.

The app is itself just a wrapper for the browser based Facebook but integrates everything nicely and works rather well considering. Thanks for updating the app recently. A way to permanently select most recent as the default landing page, it defaults back to the lame top stories every so often would be great.

Pretty great alternative app to use instead of facebook.. Alot smaller in size runs smooth.. Only complaints is every time i try to check messages i cant and it bugs me to download fb messenger :( and also cant crop profile pic with this app The app is limited to uploading 3 photos per post but it is the only app ive found that allows me to add as many photos as i like to a post afterwards and actually work.. This apps on the right track hoping it gets even better with a future update

This is a really good app. My only complaint is that when I click on link and when I'm done and hit back button this app does not go back to where I stopped on Facebook.. This is annoying. Also can you have video downloading function : -)

This is a welcome relief from resource hogging FB app. However, in the latest version, the pictures are not displaying properly on my Tablet, Shield K1. Hope it gets fixed in the next update Edit: Photo bug taken care of. But the timeline gets refreshed every time I click on an external link.

Haven't had any issues with fb getting into my texts and contacts....and no, I didnt download their app due to permissions and they still got into my stuff. 5/17 FB has been sending me fake friend requests to download their messenger since I started using this app. Guess it buggs them that this app works so well. Don't understand why. Didn't know I am that important, haha

Brilliant. All the complaining people can gonuse the bug riddled official app. Thus one is brilliant no spying facebook on my location, or accessing my personal phone data. No Unauthorized access that faceboom sneaks into. Thank you creator for making a Facebook app the way Facebook should have done to begin with. Cheers

Cannot share a post from lets say YouTube and have a message on it at the same time. Either the whole message is removed or is cut off. Don't install this app. The "tinfoil" isn't worth the lack of quality.

It works well with FB lite. I didn't understand it. It took me by surprise when I started using FB lite. I don't know if I'm missing a term, but I find, "Tinfoil for Facebook so funny

Great alternative to the too intrusive Facebook app and messenger app that keep running in the background and eat up your mobile data plan. For casual FB user that happily lives without the false needs of being always connected to Facebook.

The regular FB app was slowing down my Galaxy Tab A. Not so with this app. Simple and effective for us who wish only to check in from time to time. No bothersome trending junk either. Good work!

Great wrapper for the mobile version of Facebook, the only thing that bugs me lately is the fact that whenever I click on an external link the timeline gets refreshed. Other than that, great little app

This app is so cool. I was uncomfortable while downloading original Facebook app because of all the permissions it needed. But this worked just fine for me...a guy who uses Facebook just for checking some specific pages and posts I like.

I really like this app. Much better than the FB app. The web wrapper is a great idea. If you allow me to change the font size (like my browser does) you'll get 5 stars. I don't have a problem with it returning to top of news feed when you come back to it never because that's a feature of the mobile website but the front size thing is important to me. Cheers

The Tinfoil Hat has a hole in it. Facebook is now showing me targeted ads based on websites I've visited on my phone - and not by click-through. :/

Similar functionality to Facebook app. Better privacy, and takes up much less room! Seems to be working again after update. Happy not to have push notifications, which would be distracting and annoying.

Can you guys stop fb from putting a banner for facebook lite everytime I open tinfoil? If you can make fb live work, that would be great, but unnecessary. Let's focus on removing that stupid facebook ad.

It's quite annoying that it refreshes each time you follow an external link or read a comments section and then return to the main feed.

I love this app but right now I'm always hesitant to click on links that leave facebook. Everytime I come back to the app, it looses my place in the timeline. Please fix.

Was an excellent application, never had a single problem with it. Unfortunately, Facebook themselves completely stripped message functionality from their mobile site rendering all browser logins, including Tinfoil, useless.

So, I've been using this app for a while and it has been pretty good but now it's telling me to install messenger to see messages when before it was built in... I'm not installing that stupid battery draining app.

I came here to write this review after being impressed by the sheer efficiency that this application runs with. I might add that the phone I am using hasn't the best components available for demanding applications, too. I have tried a good few Facebook alternatives and so far, this one is the only one that successfully filled the first bit of criteria that I was seeking: it is lightweight and efficient, as best as possible, when it comes to Facebook. As far as I can tell as a general scroller and ranter, it supports all points of interest that mobile Facebook presents with the exception of the messaging service, which it would seem is meant to be a supported feature but currently doesn't operate properly. You are shown how many unread messages you have in your inbox in the app', but notifications and actual messaging (even reading them) so far will require some modification on the developer's part to work - otherwise, users are constantly asked to 'download the messenger app', even if that is already installed on the same device. This is the *only* reason that I have refrained from adding a fifth star rating. Everything else, I would humbly suggest is uncontestedly better coding than its competitors, and furthermore than the original resource-hog that is the official Facebook Application. Personally, I can deal with having to use the official Messenger App', which in my opinion is leagues more stable and faster than the official browser. If one were going all-official, I would be forced to use two separate app's, anyway...so no loss. In case you were wondering and have read this far, if there are any advertisements attached to this application at the moment, then I haven't bloody seen them. Great work, Daniel.

But, it should have the ability to display pictures in full screen mode, similar to the fb app. That's my only complaint!

Back in now - I was getting nothing but a blank page, uninstalled and reinstalled. Was using the regular FB app and constantly being pestered by their suggestions. Thank you for making the annoyances go away!

It works well enough, but I'm removing it because of one big frustration: After I read an article, I go back to read the comments and the article is gone, lost somewhere in my feed, not easily found again unless I remember who posted it. Can't take it anymore.

Takes me back to the top every time I look at an external link, a relatively new glitch that is getting very annoying!

Needs internet access to use, unlike the Facebook app itself, but much more reliable and unlike the Facebook app it does actually display news feeds in the correct recent sort order. Have been using for last month and is my main way to access Facebook now. Brilliant.

This was an excellent app until the latest update. The new update causes the application to lose internet connection after just one or two excursions to an outside article. When you move back into the app, it loses all connectivity, and says "no internet connection."

Why does it now say "not connected to the internet" all the time? I am constantly closing the app to get it to refresh. Won't go to links either.

Crashes everytime when I click on message. Otherwise 5 star. So please fix.

Every word typed is immediately erased. Very frustrating, can't even use the app.

You'll need to open the options and set it to Basic mode now to access facebook messenger. Better than their garbage apps.

Last three days, I have to login every time I want to use the app. Every preference: auto, mobile, desktop, onion, etc., brings back an error message. Please fix!

Ticks me off when it puts me back to the top of my news feed when coming back from an external link.

Worked fine (with the exception of messaging) until today when it inexplicably stopped showing anything on my timeline except for a prompt to add new friends.

Neat, simple, kind of beautiful. the official Facebook ap no longer works on my old tablet, but this ap runs flawlessly.

Working well the past couple of months.. not sure if i messed up something but the "most recent" option i chose always switches to top stories whenever i close the app. It wasn't this way before.

Awesome app. Even lets me choose the basic interface without all the unnecessary UI. Also removes the need for Messenger. And the best of it all: It's open source!!! Also for everyone who wants push notifications: Install Notifications for Faceboek ;)
