About Daikin SKYFi

Control you Daikin Ducted Air Conditioner from your Android device. This app, in conjunction with Daikin’s BRP15A61 Wi-Fi Interface (SKYFi) will provide the majority of functions already available via the Daikin wall mounted remote control panel. Standard functions such as On/Off, temperature, fan speed and mode of operation are easily set or monitored via the App.

Additional functions such as easy set timers, configuration settings, Dealer contact details and maintenance functions are also provided. If a Daikin Zone Controller is fitted to the air conditioner, the naming and remote control of zone dampers is also supported. Depending on the model of air conditioner, indoor and outdoor temperature is also displayed.

If you do not have a home or local Wi-Fi network available, the SKYFi interface will act as a Wi-Fi Access Point and support a single Wi-Fi connection from your Android device (provided the Android device is within range).

If you do have a home or local Wi-Fi network available, the SKYFi interface can be easily configured from the App to join your home or local Wi-Fi network by entering the Wi-Fi network ID and password. In this configuration, multiple Android devices can access the air conditioner while retaining their Wi-Fi access to other devices on the network.

If the home or local Wi-Fi network has permanent connection to the Internet, it is possible to control the air conditioner from anywhere in the world where Internet access is available to your Android device. There is no Daikin subscription cost for this service, however local network access charges may apply.

This application requires a compatible Daikin Air Conditioner fitted with Daikin Wi-Fi Remote Control Interface BRP15A61. The zone control functionality also requires the Daikin Air Conditioner to be fitted with a Daikin Zone Controller (model BRC24Z4, BRC24Z8, BRC230Z4 or BRC230Z8) along with associated zone control dampers.

The interface and App also supports Daikin light commercial (Sky Air) split systems such as under-ceiling and cassette models. If the indoor unit has a swing louver function, the App will recognise this and provide an additional air flow direction button and indication symbol.

Compatible Daikin Air Conditioners are most ducted split systems and light commercial systems less than 10 years old.

The app works ok, it's just extremely annoying with the overlay messages that keep popping up. There should be some way to disable them. I have to keep completely closing the app after I'm finished with it.

N70%
by N####:

The Daikin a/c system is one of the best, but Skyfi is not. The WiFi unit keeps dropping out, and in any case is only good for about 3-4 metres. I had to put in an extender to get across 2 rooms. And the app is just clumsy. Slow to connect, and then when I'm finished I have to restart my phone because of all the annoying messages. If you want good wireless, better buy something else. Yuk!

by X####:

Update: this is the worst app I've ever encountered and I'm upset to have paid so much for it. A total joke! Daikin Skyfi is not worth buying. There are other Internet based controllers manufactured by the likes of Honeywell, Nest and others that are cheaper and have a good reputation. Don't buy the Skyfi one. UPDATE: since the last security update on Android, this app doesn't work at all. In over a year this app has not been updated and its disgusting that Daikin promotes this. I hope this is not a reflection of the quality of the hardware they use in their AC units, otherwise we're all in big trouble!

The SKYfi App allows you to control your Daikin air conditioning system from your smart phone. While it works well it can take a little time to connect via the wifi and pop up window messages can be irritating. Using it on an Galaxy S7 android phone it works acceptably well and provides excellent convenience.

After a very disappointing and frustrating start with this app - and a lot of wasted time by me and even the Daikin repairman (who changed several SkyFi units in a useless attempt to fix the problem), we finally got it working well and consistently. The problem is NOTthe app itself, but a conflict with the firewall in the Netgear router, which shuts it down before you can do much with it. The answer (finally) was to create a special port in the router, and it now works very well and is very useful. Why Daikin don't mention this in the manual is astonishing, as, judging from the negative comments on Google Play, it is a frequent problem. The Daikin serviceman finally got a step-by-step guide to the router change and the problem disappeared. Incredibly, not even their retailers know about the router conflict and I had to tell them!! To anyone else having problems I suggest that this is where you should look first.

Does keep trying to connect but at least it does after a few goes. My main gripe is the Mode button is obscured under the Zone buttons on my Sony Exterior Z5 Mini as the app doesn't scale correctly. Other than that it works locally on the Wi-Fi or when I am out it works over the net.

X70%
by X####:

It usually takes about 5 mins of constantly messing around with configuration and wifi settings to get it working by which time you might as well walk to the control panel directly and adjust. Very buggy and needs an update ASAP. Very disappointing that a product is marketed yet it doesn't work as specified.

X70%
by X####:

If it ever connects to the machine it works fine, but often takes several attempts to connect even when on the same Wifi network. Each time it tries it shows a notification on the screen, and because it often takes a dozen or more cycles of trying a local connection and then a remote connection, it can become quite irritating. I want to unistall this so badly I'm reduced to using a http binding in openhab for control and openhabs own remote management to control the Daikin when away.

X70%
by X####:

This bad boy drains battery power really badly when not connected to home wifi. Other than that it is good.

B70%
by B####:

This app is absolute garbage. The skyfi controller is something you pay a small fortune for, what you get is a half finished product that is lucky to work 10% of the time. It is 2017 and the app hasn't seen an update since October, 2013. This product leaves a sour taste in my mouth when I think of any Daikin products.

X70%
by X####:

It takes forever to connect and once it finally does, it's extremely limited in its functionality. Might as well forget it!

X70%
by X####:

Clunky interface, no way to control zones on/off as shown in screenshots (or at all from app!), app is 3 years without an update and in desperate need of one.

C70%
by C####:

Works well except for one minor issue: it does not connect to a wireless network if there are SPACES in the WPA passphrase.

D70%

The app rarely connects with the aircon making the object of having skyfi installed a wasted and expensive exercise

X70%

So buggy it is a sick joke. Daikin this is costing you business coz like many others when asked i say look elsewhere.

A70%

It does the job, but has a lot of annoying bugs and needs updating.

Y70%

This app is old, outdated and doesn't work well. Keep in mind that this is the SkyFi app that is for the Daikin ducted aircon (not the wall split systems - for those you need to use the Daikin Mobile Controller by Daikin Singapore). This app constantly throws connection errors on your phone or tablet screen as it runs in the background. they seems to stop after about a minute but it's a problem and seeing that this app hasn't been updated since 2013(!), it appears that Daikin have no interest in fixing the app, let alone bringing the user interface in line with today's standards. The fact that you need to pay hundreds of dollars for the wifi hardware during installation makes these issues even worse. If Daikin are going to charge this kind of money for the wireless connectivity feature, it should be easy to set up, configure, customise and use. i don't doubt that Daikin have had many complaints about this app, but since it hasn't change for nearly 2 years, I'm not confident that anyone is listening. Very disappointed.

Daikin, this app is costing you sales! You need to fix it or you will lose more business. Customers, don't even consider getting a Daikin system with Skyfi because it is buggy, the app UI is horrendous, it doesn't shut down correctly, it is slow and fails to connect at least half the time.

Y70%
by Y####:

Very disappointing and frustrating. Very slow to connect and constantly dropping out. Daikin should not even have this on the market before they fix the bugs. I wasted a lot of time on it and I'm astonished a reputable firm like Daikin would market something this bad.

Y70%
by Y####:

Like others say it does not work. I will never buy a daikin ac again.

Y70%

Does not work. Dont waste your time people.

Y70%

Once you connect to the air-con wifi, enter your password and then use your wifi network, it works a treat, even when away from home. Seamlessly. Great!

Y70%

Useless and the app has alot of problems and the app hasnt been updated for years shows daikin shows care factor of zero

Y70%
by Y####:

Paid over $1000 for a retrofit of my 2 ducted systems and found out the software does not support 2 units no one told me, the techs don't understand the product and phone support is also unfamiliar. A terrible experience!

Just shiiiit. Cannot get it to do anything

Please change the app so it doesn't consistently notify us its trying to connect when the app is running in the background!

One of the worst apps I have ever used. Doesn’t work half the time. Daikin clearly don't care about their customers.

Update needed

M70%
by M####:

It won't connect to both wi-fi or the internet. Tried it on all my Apple and Android devices. Although the air con is fantastic.

Y70%
by Y####:

We were sold a 2 unit system as 1 didn't have the capacity for the house. To use this app, you must pair it specifically with a single unit. I currently need a separate phone/tablet to control the ac in the other end of the house. Freshen up the layout, add multiple unit support and fix bug crashes and I'll change my tune!!

C70%
by C####:

This app doesn't work ffs! After hours of stuffing around with this daikin heatpump supposed 'skyfi' I am extremely frustrated and majorly pissed off! The instructions are wrong. The button you are instructed to press does not exist. I did manage to get control of the heatpump via the d-mobile app however. Only after the convoluted wifi connectivity and setup procedures that required me pulling out the wifi controller from inside the heatpump to set it to the correct mode. But the 'skyfi', what a fail!

T70%
by T####:

So I have spent couple of hundreds of dollars on WiFi controller on top of the actual air con price to have all the benefits nullified by the app that doesn't work, full of bugs when it does and haven't been updated since 2013?

S70%
by S####:

I have 2 daikin units in separate houses. It is so annoying trying to select one or the other. One unit connects ok. The other hardly ever connects. Same setup/routers etc. I need to start from scratch reinstalling to make it work. Also needs to exit properly. Continually puts up messages even when closed. You can turn off messages in androids settings but the app should have the option.

S70%
by S####:

But its very buggy and the UI is outdated please update it

N70%
by N####:

Works perfectly. Remote connection set up was very easy. No fiddling with ddns settings and the like. Wish I want with the zone controller remote unit though.
