もともとはウォルター・スコットによる叙事詩「湖上の美人」のドイツ語訳につけら
れた曲で、「エレンの歌　第３番」が正式な名称です。
「アヴェ・マリア」という言葉は宗教的な意味合いがありますが、前述の通り、この
楽曲は宗教曲ではない歌曲です。
「もろびとこぞりて」も誰もがその時期になると街角で聞いているのではないでしょ
うか。
こちらは欧米で有名なクリスマスの音楽に、別詞をのせた日本のクリスマスでも欠か
すことの出来ない楽曲です。
「くるみ割り人形　花のワルツ」はチャイコフスキーのバレエ曲の中でも特に有名
で、初演から１００年以上経ってもその人気が衰えず、改訂版が数多く作られていま
す。
いずれも幅広く親しまれ、愛されている楽曲です。
