ComicRack for Android
Dropping a star for each YEAR No update! Haven't been able to get working properly since early 2015, it's 2017 now and I've given up hope for this once great app.I bought the paid app, liked the wireless PC sync, but now my comic reading is on a tablet, and this doesn't work on those properly, either, unless you use a old one and then the kit kat sd issue, so what's the point? I had to switch to Perfect Viewer. Please, update!!
The library sync sometimes doesn't work for some reason. I just wish there were options to change the meta data of the comics on my phone so that I can properly arrange by series. Right now I have my ultimate spiderman in 4 different series because of that. Otherwise it's really good.
Used to be better when it seemed to be actively developed. Now a days one needs to perform various workarounds for it to access files on external storage, and these workarounds get reset on every device reboot. Moved on to Perfect Viewer which looks less elegant, but at least handles external storage properly. *Android 6.0 Edit: knocked another star off for it not having received a proper fix for external SD cards (PV does this perfectly) and no updates since 2014. Less stable than ever
Dont buy this app. It loses some cbr files for whatever reason and is relatively meh.. lol just tried out comicat instead. WAY better program so far. Use that instead! Bye bye comic rack you were rusty and old. My new comicat purrrssss lmao
Only reason I bought this app because of WiFi Sync functionality, which never worked.
The development of this app seems to be abandoned. Feature requests and bugs are most ignored. It has some nice features but the day by day usage is compromised by bugs and the outdated interface, making the usage not very pleasant. I recommended looking for another reader.
Love the desktop program. Love the free app. Paid for this because I wanted the wireless sync and wanted to reward the devs for the awesome free software I've been using. The wireless sync doesn't exist. There is a button for it on the free version that tells you to buy the full version, but the wireless sync button is absent in the paid version. Not having ads is nice, but not being lied to is nicer.
I have had nothing but problems lately with this app. I will say that I have quite a few books organized into smart lists. No matter what I do it keeps using all my physical memory and crashing. On good days it takes me hours to add new books with my pc and add them to my tablet. The android app works great but it's useless with its pc counterpart. I have seen others with this same issue and there doesn't seem to be a way to contact comicrack for support. That is sad because I paid for this app because I pc
My library desynced and can't find the folder(s), can't open the comics directly... I mean for crying out loud. All I want to do is read a bloody comic. Can't find my SD card either navigating through menu and it stops running when I choose 'ok' to find a library. Is it too late to get my money back after 3 years?
I really hate that this doesn't work on my new Nextbook tablet running 5.0. It installs and runs but the comic book covers won't show up and it crashes when I try to open a comic. I gave it 5 stars while I could use it.
This used to be the best comic viewer in the Play Store. Unfortunately, the dev hasn't updated this app since 2014. Been using Material Comic Viewer Pro instead, a modern looking comic viewer with performance that can't be beat. RIP, ComicRack.
As a reader, it's perfect. Otherwise, I thought that Windows version acts as a server, and I can select what comic to transfer from my device. Actually, I have to be at my desk and select everything on my PC. Also, ugly (but not really important).
I love this reader but I paid the full version just so I could use the wi-fi sync! I have it on Windows and I hate that they are separated. what a waste of money! all tips I have found online are too complicated for me. would like at least a refund..
By far the best! There is one thing though, sometimes I'm somewhere with no internet, it fails to check if the app is legit and it shuts down... Also, can you add a different theme option?
The ComicRack full version app is packed with features, and customizations. I am pleased to have bought the full version, yet annoyed I have not figured out how to set favorites. One of the coolest features is the live comic wall paper.. and not being able to set favorites I can't specify which covers are my wall paper. This is a frustrating puzzle.
Still my favorite comics reading program 5+ years later. I'm an archivist with over 100k digital scans so sorting is very important to me, and my only complaint, the lack of good sorting options in the UI, was fixed in the last UI update. If options, details, organization, etc is important to you, nothing beats this. If you just want a lightweight reader, though, you might want to look elsewhere.
Brought my tablet to read during my free vacation time. But when I tried to open it asks for an ONLINE verification which I have no access at the time. Not enough that a purchase was done. The app wont let you read until you verify again. Very dissappointed with purchase that needs to be verified everytime.
This app was brilliant until my tablet updated to android 5.1.1. Now it freezes all the time and Android constantly has to ask me if I want to wait for it to respond. Shame really, if this lagging issue is sorted it is easily a 5 star app.
I love this app. It syncs all of my comics between all of my devices. The only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star is because it's only eligible for Family Library if purchased after 7/2/2016. I've already purchased two copies of this app, so I'm disappointed that I have to purchase it again to put it on another device.
Love this app. Can read all my comics, have no issues with paid version. I had update issues with free version. It's a great way to keep your collection handy and the sync works really well. Very pleased with this app, well done app elves!!!!
This used to be hands down the best app for comics. Now it's laggy and why the hell did you remove sort by folder... Its the one I used the most... Thanks a bunch. Your lucky the refund deadline already passed...
I used this app for months. Now I'm receiving "cannot verify license". I've tried, clearing the cache reinstalling ect. Please advise.
This app is pretty OK and that's about it! It freezes way too much for the price I paid for this app. I honestly regret wasting my $$ on this. I should have remained faithful to comicat....
Good app but it'd be better if you added the feature of guided viewing , or new effects when turning the page like a more realistic effect .
Update to my ~2013 review: it's still a great app at its core, but the looks got very dated and the lack of proper SD card support (for WiFi sync, manually copying files will probably work in most cases) is a major drawback. **Original review: I rarely bother reviewing apps, but I feel compelled to say that ComicRack coupled with the Windows application (the integration is a key feature for me) makes a complete solution for managing and reading my comics collection. Add to that the Comicvine scrapper and you get a very powerful tool.
After this app, every time i think "wireless sync" i start to get angry. WHEN it works, it's after a lot of tries and it often doesn't complete the transfer. Good reader, but the support is simply terrible.
Needs material design. The app is beginning to look dated against my other apps. Last update was in Dec 2014.
When it works it's good but frequently CR is unable to open some cbr files while Perfect Viewer can open the same files without a hitch.
I paid for this app and I have to use the free app to read the whole comic sometimes. The worst thing is when it gets right near the end and just stops. I've gotta open the free app just to see if I missed any pages. How is the free app more reliable than the paid version? Fix that and I'll give it 5 stars.
I couldn't read anything. It wasn't good, I really want to restore my purchase.

The customisable view and cropping options make reading on a 3:4 screen much much nicer than anything else out there. And with image adjustments and a ton of other features this is easily the best reader. Two things would make it perfect in my opinion: an updated material design and it would be absolutely amazing to have cloud support considering how much storage is taken up by quality CBR files.
Really bad for 7$.only reason to buy the app is to sync. The sync function is broken. Dropbox and comic cat are better. I want a refund
I don't normally don't review but like redirecting my comic folder wiped them all. Only one stayed behind. Luckily it's backed up but I'm confused. I loved it before hand. I haven't update android, still lollipop.
Solved my previous problem with the crashing. My library had a solid .CBR and a few corrupt files that were causing the crashes. Now I have no problems whatsoever, awesome app.

Free version is more practical since you can use it always, unlike paid one where each week you have to go online fof program to check its validity..come on..this is not 400usd program, why such paranoia. Not all keep this on phone and not everyone keeps wifi on in house all the time, not to say how it was annoying on vacation where I choose calm small place for peace and then ending up dragging 10inch tablet to bar to unlock my paid program for 100th time
CR is a pretty decent reader. It's a bit complex but worth the effort to learn. Especially if you also use ComicRack on a computer. That's where the serious management occurs, not in the Android app. I'm not knocking CR, but that is something that should be noted on the features list.
Simply does not work. Cannot add my device even though I've tested the connection successfully as advised using both wireless and wired steps. Worse still, the connection window is modal and cannot be closed so the only way out of it is to end task.

This app is amazing, especially when paired with the desktop program. There are some issues though. I currently have over 20,000 comics that are loaded, and the app takes forever to load. I understand completely I'm a rarity for having so many, but I shouldn't have to wait a half an hour to start reading. The app also needs to be updated to take advantage of the SD card better. When I set up my folder to store all my comics on the SD card, I shouldn't have had to work that hard to get to work.
