Curable has become a popular app for migraine relief since being written up in Techcrunch in the article Curing the Incurable. The journalist, a notable skeptic, wrote the article when his wife found drastic migraine pain relief after a few weeks of using the Curable app. "Very rarely, an app comes along that changes your life. I want to tell you about such an app, and how it changed mine." Scammy, misleading - subscription based. It's not free. The information received in the first lesson is basic psychology 101 about top-down processing, attention, therapy and placebo effects. Unfortunately the narrator speaks to you like a child, using infantile examples instead of simply explaining the concept in a way those unfamiliar would understand. I had high hopes for this app, the interviews and format of the first & only "free" lesson were promising, but I feel incredibly misled and therefore, frustrated, for wasting my time. What a scam, feels like an attempt to profit off those who are vulnerable, desperate, and suffering. $240, what a deal! There is a need for scientific, research based self-help apps especially for chronic pain, however, if it is not accessible, then it is worthless.
