Christian Science Monitor for Android
Seems to be designed for 10" tablets only. No way to change the font size, Zoom gesture (unpinch) has no effect.
HARD LEFT BIAS: NYT, CNN/ HARD RIGHT BIAS: FOX, WSJ Real level news: CSN, BBC
It seems to be designed for a specific size and aspect ratio of screen. It doesn't properly fit my 4:3 screen and clips one side.
I have a Moto X Pure. The text size was fine for me, however the user interface is just despicable. The home screen is beautiful, but mildly unintuitive. Scrolling horizontally through the articles is a bit "sticky," and once you click on an article the user interface changes completely to an inflexible, black-and-white layout. There is no table of contents or article headlines, just a series of gray dots. You have no real idea what articles are up next, and the body of the article "sticks" to the left side of the screen. This is unfortunate for CSM because they really do have outstanding content. Unfortunately the app is awkward at best.
Repeatedly, my account is paid up but go for weeks unable to download new issues. Worthlesd
Ouch. The font size in the articles are humongous. There is no water to adjust the size in the app. Galaxy S5 on Android 6.1.
I am unable to read the monthly edition I have been charged for on my Nexus 10. I am cancelling.
Best news app I've ever seen! Up to date and very interesting.
but ever since I paid my monthly subscribing I can't open CSM's main news. I get for five bucks a month less then I was getting for nothing/free.
Can't resize pages
Always able to trust this news source
NO ZOOM?? What's this?
Busted UI, clumsy layout. Too painful to use, which is a shame given how much I like the Monitor.
Static home page launches..not able to click through any navigation at all ....broken. .please fix...cam needs a news app.
Great for atheists & agnostics too! No religious banter
Initial impression was good. Great content. Nice navigation. Crisp images. But then I tried to read it. On a 7 inch tablet I would need a magnifying glass. Such a shame. Please please give us a font size option!

App developer thinks all screens are the same size. Poorly developed app for use on my lg g3. Its a shame because i love the content.
CSM has great content, more neutral than most other "news" sources...but let's face it, their app stinks.
I continue to be inspired by the writings in the Christian Science Monitor. Mary Baker Eddy was a brilliant women in her day.
Amazing content
Can't read new design. Have to download each time I come back to an issue. Useless
Text too small and can't be enlarged. Impossible to read on a phone.
Good content but crashes constantly
Great for atheists & agnostics too! No religious banter
Print is way to fine and very hard to read, especially for a long time.
A better zoom ratio would help
Crashes every time I go to my library
Would have been great had it not constantly crashed every time I try to open it. Or if it didn't freeze all the time. Reported the problem and never got a response. Easier to just bookmark the website and read the articles when I have wifi.
Good app
Content is what I expect from the Monitor -- intelligent, informed, uncommonly balanced and free of irresponsible and sensational stories. Editorial content is quite separate from Christian Science text. Staff seems small but quite capable. <•|•> Most text is quite readable. There's no "unpinch" to magnify, an omission that seems strange, considering the occasional instance of wee text. Right-hand pane, black background, won't scroll completely; workaround is to scroll the left pane in the same direction.
Love the ease of use and broad reach. The Christian Science Monitor online edition is a tremendous asset that increases my focus and thinking to what's important to think about... and often to heal! I now carry it with me everywhere!
Text spacing is awkward (doesn't make use of the whole screen), navigation is horrible and the app takes a long time to load.
Nexus 7 (2013) no way to zoom or enlarge fonts. Text so small you need a magnifying glass to read. What were they thinking. Also somewhat buggy. Too many "not responding" errors. Best to just use the digital facsimile version in a browser or download the pdf. At least it's zoomable. I also have the iPad app, which is readable on the large . larger screen. Though frankly I think I still prefer flipping through the magazine in a facsimile edition. Too many hoops to jump through in the app version.
It's really nice to see these guys finally come out with an android app, but this really needs some work. Too many bugs to list. For now, The best way to read the CSM electronically on android is through the Kindle app.
Best news source.
I am happy to finally get this app for CSMON! But... Layout looks good but I cannot find how to adjust the font size. In some cases the font is very small and difficult to read but in the stories the font is so large it is not really usable as there are just a few words per screen. Also the app freezes for me on my Motorola Razr really too often to make the app usable. I am getting the CSM is not responding, error message almost everytime I select an article. The size of the screen is page being sent is larger than my Razr screen so I have to scroll to see the whole picture/articles. I have not found anyway to resize the page being sent. Two stars for now but I look forward to the next release.
As a monitor digital weekly subscriber, I was thrilled to find this app now available for Android tablets. However, it seems geared for 10 inch tablets. On my Nexus 7, the text is very small and there is no way to resize or zoom in on the text. It makes the reading experience difficult.

Not usable with anything other than a large tablet. Very disappointing, I use my phone for almost all media consumption. I love the content, but a phone friendly app is required before I continue my subscription.
