About Sun Street Centers
STEPS to Prevention
It is difficult to learn about what drugs and alcohol can do to your body without someone judging. “Why can’t I drink if I see my parents drink all the time?”, “Can people quit using drugs any time they want?”, “Is marijuana safer than prescription drugs?” These are common questions you might have. If you ask your parents, they might think you are taking drugs and ground you, your friends might not know either but tell you the rumors they have heard. This app was designed for you to learn about drugs and alcohol at your own pace and in a safe environment. Check it out, you might learn something interesting! And... while you’re at it, share what you learned with your parents and friends!
Research indicates that adolescents who begin using alcohol or drugs before age 14 are significantly more likely to experience a substance dependence at some point in their lives compared to individuals who begin drinking after 21 years of age. In addition, youth who drink alcohol are more likely to experience negative consequences, such as physical or sexual assault, unintentional injuries, legal problems, and impaired school performance.
