About New City Catechism

The New City Catechism is a modern-day resource aimed at helping children and adults alike learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith via 52 questions and answers. The New City Catechism mobile app makes it easy to take all of the questions and answers with you wherever you go—for free!

The app pairs each question and answer with a Scripture reading from the ESV, a short prayer, and a devotional commentary written by contemporary pastors, including John Piper, Timothy Keller, Kevin DeYoung, and others.

The app also includes a short version of each answer and kid-friendly songs designed to help children memorize the entire catechism.

Features:

• 52 catechism questions and answers related to God, humanity, sin, salvation, and more
• Devotional commentary on every question and answer written by respected pastors and church leaders
• Short prayers to accompany each question and answer
• A children's mode featuring short versions of each answer and quick access to kid-friendly songs designed to aid memorization
• Related Bible passages drawn from the ESV

The New City Catechism is a joint project of the Gospel Coalition and Crossway.

I wish I could see both adult and children's answers at the same time. So far every time I've opened the app, I have to scroll through all the questions to get to the current question, and often I have to go back to settings to reset to show children's answers. I liked the functionality of the other new city app better. This one is prettier but that doesn't count for much when it's more trouble to use.

Somewhat disappointing. Why on earth would Crossway use the NIV translation instead of their own ESV? I liked the ampers app better.

App is very nicely done. I miss the commentary from past theologians, but the newer stuff is good too. This is a great resource for family devotions and teaching my kids theology! Thanks.

I like it so far, but one thing that's been bugging me is that it should say "Christ's" instead of "Christs". Thank you!

The app version by Ampers offered more functionality and links to videos, plus it automatically advanced on a weekly basis to the next question. Unfortunately, with the release of this Crossway version, the Ampers app is being pulled from the Play Store.

Really like the questions and answers for kids, but neither my kids nor myself like the new music by Crossway

Excellent resource for believers. Great to use for sharing with others who might have questions. Recommend it. So far no issues I can see.

Awesome Biblical Teaching Resource

A beautiful app and a modern take on the catechisms of old. Now if we could only get Crossway to update their ESV Bible app.
