Tissue Box Cover for Android
You'll make beautiful tissue box covers, to use yourself or to give as gifts, by following the step-by-step instructions.
The tissue paper box cover is made using a sewing machine, and other useful items are straight pins, scissors and an iron. You'll need paper (you can use newspaper), a tape measure, pencil and ruler to draw your pattern.
If you are using the same fabric for the lining, fold your fabric with right sides together and pin the pattern to the fabric. I am making a cover for the medium height tissue box.
Pin the cut out cover with the right sides together and sew with a 5/8" seam, leaving a space open on one of the (C~C 10 1/4") ends for turning.
Cut the corners on the diagonal and clip the inside corners, being careful to not cut the threads. Turn the cover right side out. With a pin, carefully pull the fabric at the corners to make them square. Work the fabric so you get nice edges and then press with the iron. Press the open edge as though it were seamed. Pressing is a very important step to getting great looking covers.
Measure 1 1/2" from the end of the (C~C 10 1/4") pieces to the inside and press. You can sew them down now if you choose.
On one hemmed sections, place a 1 1/2" velcro hook side piece to the hem area. Place a 2" piece of the soft side velcro to the end of the hook side piece with it extending onto the cover. Sew the velcro strips to the cover. On the opposite C~C 10 1/4" hemmed section, place the 3 1/2" soft sided velcro over the hemmed section and down onto the cover. Sew the velcro to the cover.
On each side of the B~B 6" edges, pin and sew the 4 1/2" pieces of hook sided Velcro as in the picture above. Center your tissue paper box onto the center of the finished cover.
To put the cover on the tissue box, bring the sides up so the edges lay on top of the tissue box. Bring up the back side of the cover fitting it to the back of the box, matching the velcro strips and leaving the hemmed section free. The nicest thing about black and white fabric is that it can be incorporated in any décor. A tissue box cover with this type of covering can be used in any room and with any theme. These covers are extremely easy to make, and it's a gift anyone will appreciate. Do this project in an area providing adequate work space; also, either cover it or work on a surface that doesn't matter if it gets paint on it.
