CROCHET PATTERN

If you recently fell in love with a pattern, only to realize it calls for knit stitches instead of crochet, don't throw it out just yet. You may be able to re-write the pattern using some knit-to-crochet conversions, creating a similar finished product. Crochet stitches tend to be taller than knit stitches, so be prepared for your project to work up in fewer rows than described by the knit pattern.
• Find a chart pattern you want to use for your project. It's also possible to write out the abbreviated instructions onto a chart, once you're familiar with the symbols.

• View the key on the pattern that lists all the stitches used to create your project. The key defines the crochet stitches associated with each symbol in each box of the chart.

• Find the starting point of your project on the chart. This may be marked with an arrow or defined in the instructions.

• Crochet the first row as shown on the chart. Follow the symbols on the first row from left to right. The second row reads from right to left when you turn your project. Each row alternates in this manner until you finish.

• Continually check the key against the graphed chart so as not to miss any stitches.
