This program is awesome. I used to use a Garmin 62S for backcountry navigation. I transitioned for a bit using both the Garmin and this app. My biggest concern is the reliability of my hardware (MotoX) and the battery life. (The Garmin has survived drops in streams and easily can swap the AA batteries.) However, the interface of the BCNavigator together with the improved screen on my phone are so much better than the Garmin. I depend on it for bushwacking in the mountains and desert. The cost incredibly small for the value. This is the best app that I have paid for.

I use this app when dirt biking or mountain biking, download very detailed hi res OpenCycle maps at zoom level 16 for maximum detail in Australia, once you have downloaded some map tiles use a file manager and go to "internal memory/bcnav/archives" and copy the db to your sd card, you can save as many maps as you like this way and never have to download them again, I have an older sony xperia with a 6 inch screen but limited internal memory, it's just the best for navigation, create tracks in google maps and save as kml or gpx files, you won't regret buying this app...

I love this app. I use it while elk hunting. You can download maps before going out and put your phone on airplane mode while hunting. Your battery will last forever, almost.

Great App! Is there a way to display the waypoint labels text at half size and quarter size like the waypoint icon?

I've tried a few GPS apps but always find myself coming back to this one. I like being able to easily import and export gpx files for trips. I now use it exclusively as my hiking and backpacking database making it much easier to do repeat trips in certain areas.

Great application if you enjoy the outdoors. Can purchase overlays for public/private land borders which was alot of help during my hunting season. Tracks altitude and location really well. And the maps are highly detailed. The only con/negative I have is the maps are slow to download depending on how big of a map you need to download. Outside of this I have nothing bad to say about this application.

I have use the demo version for quite a few years for bike rides and tramping in New Zealand and have been very impressed with it so I decided it was time to get the pro version.

Great for recording tracks mushroom hunting and finding my way home or back to choice locations.

I lived the app till today. I turned it on and now everything is gone and I cant find any of my routes from trips taken or my gpx files of other routes I want to take. Any sugestions?

I really enjoyed the my topo maps app and then found out that it is for large screen devices. I'm hoping this will preform better...

Application somehow deleted all of my recorded tracks and waypoints. No response from developer. I will be finding a different option

I really like this app but it sometimes crashes when recording a track, so I need to keep an eye on it. Other than that though, it's awesome.

Spent 4 days in the Canadian Rockies and before I left, I downloaded various maps at various zoom levels. We even managed to find a couple Geocaching spots to within a couple feet! Canadian Topo maps are detailed & very accurate. Other maps are handy and accurate too.

I totally love this app. I am a hunter and use it often while in the woods to find my way out whenever I am not paying attention and don't recall my exact tracks, or simply when I am hiking. There is one feature that at least in my opinion would make this app COMPLETE, and earn 5 stars status from me; I wish I could track my other friends/hunters in our group as we move around while hunting/hiking, of course we all have this app in our phones. That would be the pinnacle of this great app. That to me/us is very important, and my friends and I all agree that with that feature we could move more freely around knowing the we all know where the others are at. Come on BCN, you can do this!!!! :) Update: 2/13/18: So BCN, when will you come out with your own gps device and teach GARMIN how's done????

I thought this app would be great so I bought it, I think the free version works better . I would eat her like it to work or my money back .

Very nice app. But there are 2 short commings. 1 I cant use Google maps as amaps option 2 I cant use the app to do turn-by-turn navigation, a future i need.

Useful for going off of the beaten path. Ski touring / enduro riding / climbing etc.

I use the app bushwalking and exploring North Queensland. It's works very well.

I just can't say it enough; I love this app! Every update brings terrific new functionality to an already great bit of software. I use it often with great success. It is worth far more than the small cost to purchase. Marvelous app! Edit: After some time using this app extensively it's still the best. It just gets better and better! Edit x 2: I just bought this app again for my new phone, simply because the dev deserves it! Terrific app.

If you do any type of "off the beaten path" exploration, this app will do you well. I've only used it in Arizona, but it's helped me navigate thousands of miles off road.

Replaces a 200 or 300$ GPS (just make sure you have spare phone battery for long trips). Amazing map sources, also being able to import custom maps is great! Interface is very nice, so many options for all kinds of uses, very customizable! My phone will last 3 - 4 days using the app for several hours each day (on airplane mode). Just be sure to turn the GPS off when your not using it. Organizing trips and GPX data is easy! Very helpful tech support also!

I have used this for a few years now. Great hunting/hiking nav app. I live in western Montana and cell service is not available in most of the mountains. The ability to use the maps offline is a must. Take the time to study and learn the app and you will be impressed.

Excellent application. There is a learning curve but clear and comprehensive documentation is available online and for download. There are also third party YouTube videos which are helpful. This is "back country GPS" not turn by turn GPS to get you to the nearest doughnut shop. Many maps are available for free download and for in-app purchase. If you are a hiker, a back country camper/explorer, a hunter, a fisherman, etc., then check this application out.

Used this during a mountain rescue operation to locate a hiking group last weekend. Works brilliantly with open andro maps.

Great android app for mapping with my phone when out of town w/o my mapping tools. Its a little limited compared to full tools at home but a great tool for spontaneous trips off road. Love it!

Been using this app for years for both sailing nautical charts and backcountry skiing. Outstanding!

Serviceable. Responsive development team

I've been trying this out and so far it's great. The GPS tracks are just slightly off, but that may just be me. I do like that I can download maps prior to my hikes, put the phone in airplane mode and still use the GPS to map the track. Haven't done overnights with it yet, so not sure how long the battery will last, but will try that soon. Will also test power saving mode. Galaxy S7.
