Chinese Spelling is a weekly test faced by school children in Singapore. Parents and caregivers have to prepare their child by reading and testing the weekly list of up to 10 words and phrases, check and correct the results.
Some parents may not read Chinese often so may be unfamiliar with the words. Or some days parents have to work late and may forget to prepare their child for the weekly Chinese Spelling test.
Kids also find writing and practising very boring, and they cannot test themselves without someone reading out the words to them.
TXHY or TingXieHaoYou is the ideal studying buddy for Chinese Spelling. It converts the school's TingXie words by week to audio files that the user can play anytime. The words can be masked, and the user can write on the smartphone or tablet directly.
The words will be checked and wrong words will be highlighted. Students can try each week's list multiple times, and the most recent score is stored.
Parents and caregivers can keep track of the practice scores, and also input the actual scores after the test. Parents can give a treat or reward if the child scores above a certain mark or is consistent over several weeks.
