新竹縣蕭如松藝術園區

蕭如松(1922~1992)老師為新竹縣北埔鄉人，自1950年起，任教於新竹縣地區近四十年，一絲不茍的教學作風及規定上課前要打掃教室的「蕭氏美術課」，讓所有受教過的學子印象深刻。儘管在40年代台陽美展中，已展露過人的構圖天分與驚人的用色技巧，但從未停止閱讀、研究、吸收西洋美術的觀念；不斷自修苦學揣摩印象、立體、野獸等藝術作品，並融合傳統東方書法的線條與筆觸，創出獨樹一格的繪畫風格。先後多次參加省展、台陽展、青雲展、全省教職員美展均獲得極高的榮譽，並得到省展免審查的認定。

然自一九九二年蕭如松老師去世，其故居長期呈現無人管理狀態，十數年的閒置、荒廢，歷史處所儼然成為廢墟，令人惋惜！新竹文化局一向視文化資產的保存為職志，有鑑於蕭老師一生在藝術及教育的貢獻卓著，足以為國人之楷模與表率，而「蕭如松故居」不但是蕭氏過去儲放個人物品之私人空間，同時也孕育其藝術生命的重要溫床。宏觀地說：「蕭如松故居」這個空間，視為儲存著大量屬於竹縣人記憶的共同空間。

新竹縣文化局一直以來都很積極地進行「蕭如松藝術園區」的規劃，並於九十三年五月決議成立籌備委員會，並邀集學者、專家及地方士紳等進行討論。希望透過學者專家們的研擬、審閱及重整修正，以期盡量減少誤差的還原「蕭如松故居」的原本面貌。現今已將故居空間壐造復活，並將週遭的舊宿舍整建，附加其藝文性質功能，如：藝術作品的展示、藝文活動交流的地點、藝文研討講座舉辦、民眾的藝文休憩空間等…，「蕭如松藝術園區」依「公辦民營」或「公共造產」的方式已完成公開招標，計畫於九十七年完成內裝工程後轉由民間企業—名冠藝術館作為經營管理的受託單位至今。 HSIAO Ju-sung (1922 to 1992) the teacher for the Hsinchu County Beipu countryman, since 1950, teaching at the Hsinchu County in the past forty years, the meticulous teaching style and provisions to clean the classroom before class "Xiao's art class", so all taught the students impressed.
