Grocery iQ for Android
I love this app, but it could be improved with a couple things. 1. Allow a sort order or ability to mark certain items as high importance in a store list. For instance, if I hv several items to get at a grocery, I want to see my most important items either first in the list or be in bold, a colored font, or a star by them, so I know to not overlook those items. 2. Would love if this app worked with Amazon Echo. I hate the shopping apps currently avail to connect to my Echo. Pls consider.
SORRY NO COMPARISON TO MIGHTY GROCERY. But this app is Free. Had they added customized pics it would've been perfect. My previous comments... Excellent source of organization for all your shopping. I have even customized an area for recipes under my own separate catagories. It was easy to make catagories for back to school shopping only downfall is you can save dept store items like jeans so i just added that under the extras notes, descrip etc... Great app, recommend.
Love the app - it's rich with great features like ordering grocery aisles - but it really does not want me to buy pork chops! The sync feature is key to making this app functional for my family, but for unknown reasons it will sync only 12/13 grocery list items. I have tried logging in as my wife and logging in as list sharing... still no pork chops on my list! This could really inconvenience people! They need to fix this issue longstanding issue... We'll need to find an all new app.
I love this app, it is so customizable, I've a couple of questions... do all coupons have to be printed or is there a way electronically to communicate with my store? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make a programming change... every time I switch from one screen to another and the return to my original screen I have to scroll through ALL of my items to get to the item or section I was working on... MAJOR PAIN... it would be FANTASTIC if it would return to the section of the list from whence it came... thank you for such a wonderful program...
They made some changes to the favorite list. I don't really like the new way of handling favorites plus app used to be alot easier to figure out. BUT with update, once you figure it out it is so awsome. Takes a while when you first get it to set up and get used to it. But after your second time using it, you will be happy with it!!! Get it use it.
I wish other ToDo apps integrated with this one. I can add generic items, keep the furnace filter size and other notes in my list. I use this exclusively for the convenience of keeping my shopping together. There is a history, bar code scanner, voice input. I wish there was a photo option. I've tried other grocery list apps and this one is great.
The syncing does not work properly. Which is a shame, because if it did, this would likely be a clear favorite grocery list app. The syncing is terrible. It doesn't update half the time. All the changes you made sorting and organizing your lists are gone. This one item is the cause of my low score. Syncing is a basic functionality. The app doesn't sync right to the website. Naturally, this means the app can't sync cross devices as well. The lets you sort things very nicely by isle, which makes it very convenient when you go through the store. You items in the list that are close together are physically close together in the store. Saves constantly scrolling through the list.
I loved this app and have been using it for about a year. However, in the last few weeks I lose an item when I put it on my list, meaning it doesn't show up. When I try to put it on again, the app says the item already exists. Yet, the item remains invisible to me. This has happened several times, so today I tried emailing the list to myself but the item isn't showing on the emailed list. So my partner pulled the list up on her phone and, eventually the item appeared. Then i closed the app and reopened it and the item was there. What is the problem? I don't want to go through this as much as I have in the last few weeks.
Was really excited about the look, feel, and functionality of this app until.. This app doesn't synch across devices. Useless for sharing lists. Items cleared from list return to list after a minute or so. Items not checked off on two other lists simply disappear from third list. Old checkouts return to list... terrible syncing. Look elsewhere for list sharing. This is not the app you're looking for.
I can't add ANY of my loyalty cards. When I try using the app it seems all I can do is choose two preloaded ones; Brookside and Meijer. Never heard of those. At the bottom it says if your store is not shown please wait and check for updates. Been waiting a long time....Months Update: I was able to add my loyalty cards via the Grocery IQ website, but they don't appear in the app on my phone. Same log in. Syncs up my grocery list but not the Stop&Shop or ShopRite cards or any others
To Dev team: STILL NEEDS A SEARCH FUNCTION WITHIN EACH SAVED USER LIST.Tf you are serious about using this app, be sure to read the Q&A on the website in order to make sure you set it up properly the first time, for your unique needs---it's a lifesaver for a busy household!!! UPDATE - Using it several yrs now, set up by aisle for 14 stores I shop frequently, over 400 items, saves tons of time. Syncs online in case your phone crashes and you must reinstall app -you don't lose all your lists
One of the things that sold me on this particular app was the bar code scanner. Well just tried it out, and it doesn't work. I lined it up waited till it was clear....waited some more..no click or registering going on , so clicked done button but that didn't scan it either. Did it several times holding it there longer and longer, but not scanning. This isn't my first use of bar code scanning. I use cartwheel, shop kicks, my fitness pal...all have bar code scanners, all work. Bummed! Disappointed!
I've recently changed from iOS to android and I was a big fan of this app. I would recommend it to everyone I knew and even people that I didn't, especially those in yhe grocery store with handwritten lists in hand. The problem that I've encountered is that even in spite of clearing the cart before I leave the app upon my return the cart still shows the items. This also has an impact on my favorites list since it will show as if the item is already on the list.
I have been using this app for a while and it's free :) and has a lot of good features. It also lacks the ability to search your lists, this is a severe deficit. Other suggestions would be to allow items to be on multiple specific lists not one or all. And giving specific items a varying level of importance. Thanks for everything so far.
Android version definitely not as good as the iPhone version. Maybe the developer doesn't test on Android? A few bugs you must work around. Biggest annoyance is when you edit an item in a long favorites list it takes you back to the top of the list losing your place for edits. Please fix this! Also program hangs often on network. Need to abort and restart often. Sync is unreliable and often brings back old data. Concept is great. If fixed would be 5 stars. Nothing has been fixed in the newest version.
I used to like this app alot but lately certain items won't add to my list because it says they're either already on it or in favorites, but I have nothing saved as a favorite. And it doesn't show up under all history. Extremely inconvenient to not add something to my list because of a glitch. Uninstalled
I've used it for several months now and it just seems to become less reliable over time and each version. You can't count on it to reliably add items and it no longer syncs correctly. The interface is very nice but since you can't rely on it for an accurate list it's not useful.
I installed this app and it won't open. The green home page reading Grocery iQ just stays there. Can tap on it can't swipe it. Nothing happens. Why did I even bother? I'm Uninstalling it right away.
I get migraines and the lights from the stores aggravate them. This app lets me organize my list according to aisle, so I go into the store and starting from the back, I go aisle by aisle until I get to the registers. Fast & Simple! I love how it saves the items I previously bought so I can use this app as a master list and just add items back to my shopping list. Also, I can enter prices and estimate how much I need to spend.
After being annoyed at where GIQ was going, I moved to other apps a couple of years ago. As those apps' faults became apparent, I tried GIQ again, for old times sake. Whatever you are doing, keep it up! It is now fast, with zero lag, and my Swype suggestions bar now works, so if I mess up a word, I don't have to delete it and type it again. Great job! You sucked me back in
This app does the job for me, but I'm not looking for much. It allow me to enter my items and check them off. I am looking forward to using the email and/or syncing but haven't done so yet. If you are looking for using the coupon feature you should keep looking. It indicates there are coupons fot items, but when I click on it it just shows me a list of all coupons -- not filtered to the item I entered. This is useless to me. I don't normally use coupons so it's not a deal breaker for me.
I have a Nexus 5X and the camera for the bar code scanner is inverted. Also, when I use the microphone/speak function it automatically shuts off 1 second after the button was pressed. Sorry I can't say "Vitamin C Tablets" that fast without an error.
Only 2 stores are listed for linking loyalty cards and neither are stores I shop at nor are they local. App would be great if safeway, walmart, kmart, etc. were available. Sorry grocery IQ I have to remove you because actually emailing myself the coupons then sitting and cutting them out is too time consuming right now so unless the loyalty card issue changes, this is goodbye.
Been using this app for years. It syncs between devices well, so that my husband can add the stuff he wants and it's always shows up on my phone when get to the store. The coupons are also nice and I never have trouble printing them.
I have used this app for years on my iPad, but the version they have for the Android is a waste of time. Not even sure why they have an Android version if this was the best they can do. There is no reason to download this app as you can't connect to store cards or access coupons. What is the point? To be honest the grocery list in the Safeway app is so much better than this waste of effort.
It'll be fine if ur using on ur own. But my wife and I had constant sync issues. Syncing would be lost periodically and we'd have to reset it completely. Then while shopping together sometimes things would check off right away and other times there was a long lag. There's better apos out there.
9/10/2016 update: Simply will not sync. What is the point of a shared app that will not sync? So unreliable for sharing I'm not sure why I still have the app. Great for sharing shopping duties, but so horribly bad at syncing that I we have to pre-sync before big shopping. Sucks to buy the same things because this app can't sync properly.
It drops items randomly when syncing with the iOS version (the only reason why I installed it in the first place, since my partner uses iOS). Trying to sync manually (by adding/removing items that don't match) turns into a hilariously frustrating game of whack-a-mole. Shoddy; stay away.
Sorta disappointed in this app. Was looking for a replacement for grocery king since they no longer have support and sync no longer works. The barcode scanner sucks and the data base for items is horrible. If this app had the option put pictures next to items and a better database list, it would be a contender. For now, will need to go back to grocery king.
I used to like this app when both my wife and I had iphones. But now that I have an Android, this app has become completely unreliable. It does not sunc well between the two phones. It has happened so many times that items have been left off one list and we have had to make a second trip to the store. Also, in adroid, you cannot add item that is already in the list. You shall have to search your list and uncheck them. This makes it very inconvenient. I am going to another app...
I used to love this app until the latest update. Now the scanner will not work at all. They really need to fix this issue because there are plenty of other grocery list apps out there that I'm willing to give a shot.
This app great for helping my husband and I share a grocery list! When we remember to check grocery iq, we don't both come home with bananas. One problem I have had since I switched phones is using the bar code scanner. The app doesn't recognize the size of my screen, so the 'done' button isn't available. Wish I could use that feature again. It is so handy!
I love it except for one thing - there's no way to put in an item generically unless the brands aren't available. For example, I need dry cat food. I just want something cheap and generic but that isn't an option. In order to add it to the list I have to specify a brand, which bugs. Same thing happened with pasta sauce (although I did finally find spaghetti sauce generically). Otherwise this would be my new favorite app.
I have changed to Our Grocery. No longer able to sync to anything. . Don't commit your time and energy!
Savings only comes from coupons, not store ads. If you can tap into coupons, why not weekly specials? I added oranges to my list, updated it so it showed price per pound, and the only coupon was for Dole fruit bowls. Coupons are mainly for name brand items and processed food. I want to see where milk is on sale. The only thing I like about this app is the ability to see the price per unit. The lack of weekly ads is a major dealbreaker.
11-14-15 not sure what happened, but most recent update has killed the bar code scanner. Bar code scanner still works for other apps, but not sure what happened. Been using this for 3 years for all of my family grocery shopping & have modified it for cvs, target, & home Depot.Best features are organizing based on store aisles, scanning bar codes to add items, creating multiple lists for each store, & recently I've been budgeting by using the price & empty cart button. Cons:synchs best between android & desktop BUT only ok w/ipad & Android. Also, the master history doesn't always retain an added but then deleted item.WISH it could import lists from Google or Word Doc
Several times, I have attempted to add an item to my list, only to encounter the "this item has already been added" error message. Except, the item is NOT on my list, either on the Droid or through the web interface. Multiple messages to tech support go unanswered.
None of my stores in Texas are listed. When I pull up the search, it shows Tom Thumb, Kroger, and Walmart Neighborhood market, but does not allow me to add the stores & my Savings cards. If more stores are added, I might like it. Until I can add my stores this is not very helpful.
Close to being great. They cannot figure out how to sync a list properly. End up with tons of things never coming off the cloud side and cloud is nowhere close to accurate. Other devices just don't ever end up with the same list. Database is the strong point as it has nearly everything. App is attractive and easy to use.

We live in the country where the term "wireless" means your dog stays in your yard without a leash, and "cable" is something the farmers use to pull city-slickers out of the ditch in the winter. § Unlike our house, not all of our stores have (1) WiFi or (2) cell phone reception, rendering this app useless unless you can send an email from the app, retrieve the email, and the email gets stored locally on your phone while you are still in contact with the magical Internet Fairy. § Generally speaking, it's a well thought-out application, and we still find it very useful. Those of you in the Big City should love it!
