ChargePoint for Android
Totally useful app. Lots of great little features. For example, it is hooked in to google maps with a button for getting walking directions to your car. Little bits of polish like that are abundant. Good job, keep developing it to keep it fresh.
overall, app is moderate quality. one obsurdity is that it shows 'miles added' in list of places u charged rather than kWh added. 'miles added' is stupid because that # depends upon one's driving patterns. excuse me, ChargePoint, there is something called a measurement of electricity, either MJ or kWh. i propose u allow the user to use either and if u want miles then let the user pick kilometers too for goodness sake. let's think outside the box of making the app so 'user-friendly' that it actually become *less* user-friendly.
This app sends an alert to your phone when the car finishes charging with no option to automatically stop charging once done. So basically if you overnight charge and fall asleep you're getting charged for the whole night. Please fix this.
All electric charge stations should be consolidated in one single database map. Is really dissapointed that we have to use extra apps to see others charging points
App errors when trying to request or add RFID cards. I emailed customer service and no response still after 4 days.
ChargePoint has by far the best networked EV charging. I can see rates that are set by the station owners. Wait list is great when ports are full. Huge network of spaces. It Rocks!
With latest update I no longer get notifications. I sign up for multiple stations, but I've watched stations come free and no notification to my phone (but it does unsubscribe me from notifications about other stations when one comes free)
Works great with my home charger. Only downside is that my Ioniq PHEV is not on the vehicle list. How long does it take to have a new model added?
Always works for me...a valuable tool to find avaliable open stations...
Charge point rocks
Awesome app!
Most of the time it fails to connect, so it usually takes 4-6 cycles of waiting until it finally does.
Very incomplete data. Does not pick most stations
How do start charging with just my Phone, without having to CALL in for help. I have not RECEIVED MY CARD YET
So far so good
Rate change and full charge notifications are hit or miss again. It didn't warn me before the charging rate changed, costing me to spend 100% more than I should. Ironically the not-so-useful unplug notification is always reliable.
Please add on/off switch on home charger. Right now I can't turn it off remotely once I plug in car or turn on early if I change plans.
I believe the ChargePoint network is affordable and I never had a problem operating their stations through the app.
Decent app. But over a dollarper kWh if far too expensive. Short term use only
Love NFC support to tap for quick process to charge vehicle. Downside to app is that chargers information doesn't appear to be up to date. I find chargers that I would assume don't appear on app since they might be on a different Network etc. However when I get their it's a charge point station. As for chargepoint station they are not specific as the location of the actual station. I have to go on a search mission to find them sometimes. Needs more details for the stations. Like some say only one vehicle to charge but some stations have two cables etc.
If you want a map of charging stations with no reliability whatsoever, then chargepoint is for you! Station status is always inaccurate and will never tell you if a station is down. Great way to strand drivers! Calling to report problems with a station will have the chargepoint "support" staff telling you that 1) you are wrong and simply don't know how your car works and 2) even if you were right there is nothing they could do because they just operate the map... They refuse to change a station status simply because everyone is saying it doesn't work. They prefer to strand drivers and truck people into thinking their charger is functioning when it damn well isn't. Bunch of bozos.
Combined with Plugshare you can find good quality, easy to use chargers anywhere. Chargepoint is the best 240/120 charging system around, app is dynamic. They just need to change private charging stations to another color so people don't get confused.
I love using ChargePoint, but I hate the recent "upgrade" to the app. The change to not require opening the app to tap-and-pay at ChargePoint units meant that the app often interferes with AndroidPay: sometimes when I tap with my phone to pay at a cash register, I get a selector menu asking whether to complete the action with AndroidPay or the ChargePoint app. This significantly degrading the experience for both. I use AndroidPay a lot more frequently than ChargePoint, so this is *very* annoying. ChargePoint tried to save time for its usage, but slowed down other NFC usage. It would be better if this behavior can be disabled via a setting, so that for those who use AndroidPay more, they can revert to the old behavior of opening ChargePoint to pay for charging and not having to do anything special for using store payments. As it stands now, I have had to choose between AndroidPay and ChargePoint several time now, though it appears to be not at every store, or maybe Android will remember my choice? (There wasn't a "remember choice" checkbox.) This is making me consider uninstalling the app, or at least seeing if the NFC behavior can be disabled by logging out, and using the separate, easy-to-use, easy-to-lose NFC card. That would be a shame.
USeful but has flaws. Inability to correct or change inaccurrate utility information
Have used this app for yr and half, over past several months, i can find charging stations on Plug and not on Chargepoint app and then get to charger and see it is Chargepoint network! Even after connection with Chargepoint key card, app does not show my car at that location, connected even while I am actively charging...
Works great
Love it!
Update: Join waitlist does not work in the app. Slow, glitchy, basic. The app verges on useless but I'm forced to use it for chargers I use frequently. For a company in the EV industry that is supposedly cutting edge, their app is painfully sluggish, and obviously needs user testing. If I could get rid of it, I would.
Downloaded this app primarily for access to my charge point home charger. During the activation process, I paired my phone to the charge point with Bluetooth. Then it started "looking for home charger" the first step towards activating the WiFi, and it froze my phone to the point of restarting. Tried this process multiple times with the same outcome. I am running android 6.0.1 marshmallow. Please fix issues so I can use the app functions with my charger. UPDATE Called charge point about above issue and tried troubleshooting to no avail. Sent me a new unit which hooked up to my wifi in no time. I am now enjoying the charge point app with the ability to see up to the minute charging status, cost using local hydro provider, and kilometers added to vehicle. I contacted them again regarding a minor issue with the app on a new phone that defaulted the distance to miles per charge. They were very quick and helpful in resolving this issue as well. Overall I think their customer service is very good.
Works for most things. Except I can't input my utility rates, it just stays on a blank screen. I wish overriding the scheduled charge times was confirmed on the app before it starts charging.
I always receive messages that the charging has failed even though it is actively charging. Also, the miles added is never the same as the vehicle indicates.
Why would a car charging payment app need to access body sensors? Why does the privacy policy link 404? Why does the in app privacy policy say they can send me spam?
Cannot input my utility rates. Cannot delete charging history entries. App would be great if those two things were working. Please fix Chargepoint.
Chargepoint is the most expensive and often their chargers don't work. Check out plugshare for better options
Couldn't even activate my home charger. Finds it ok but won't let me enter my address so I can't complete the registration. If you back out you have to start from scratch. Even though you have an account. Charger seems to be working well. Just a terrible app.
The app seems nice. I will update this review later with more info. In the meantime, one problem report: I tried to leave a tip for a station and the app crashes every time. It's very reproducible. The station is 736-820 Barton Springs Rd, Austin. Installed the app to try to use a supposedly free charging station, but requires a $10 mandatory deposit to open an account.
Terrible Company... Enough said
Have a home charger and it let's me monitor my usage and alerts me when my car is done.

The only thing missing is an Android Wear version so I could use my nfc watch to unlock the charger!
