Sherpa Copper Mountain for Android
Glitches up, won't stop when I want it to by closing all apps. Has frozen while trying to look up details in the app. I like the slope counts, milage, speed etc but it needs to work b better.
Maybe they will fix it as it seems like it's a very new app. Too bad it didn't work for this visit. I will try again next time.
The app is really buggy still. It keeps freezing and once you go into a screen the only way to go back to to force close the app and start over.
Not crowded. Super day. Everything I skied had great conditions , wish I had the chance to go tomorrow as well.
It's fun to see your runs average speed, your top speed, the app outsell is a little buggy, but I keep it in my pocket and does a pretty good job tracking everything.
Mildly buggy, but once you're on the mountain it's great! Love that it tracks speed and you can see stats for each run.
Good ideas for features, mediocre to poor execution.
Loved using the app. Adds to the great time we have at Copper.
Can't turn them off
Love it
Sherpa is super useful when on the mountain it let's me know about what is going on on the slope. The downside to Sherpa is that it does drains my phone battery so it is hard to use it the entire day. Overall Sherpa is incredibly useful for on mountain intelligence and a must for the Copper Mt. ski and ride season!
Very little battery impact! Other ski "trail" apps drain the battery a lot faster than Sherpa does.
Fun app.
I like the trail info. It is easier to navigate Copper's website from Sherpa. I also like the US Ski Team audibles.
Works as advertised.
With all audibles off it still says annoying jokes and unable to record see ski patrol. Crashes a lot. The map is very inaccurate. Can't close without force stopping the app. These are well known issues that no one seems to want to fix. Let's get on this Copper Mountian.
I really want to like this app. The concept is great, and I was very excited to use it. Unfortunately, the poor design and layout really hurt it. The features I want are hard to find, and don't work as expected. The app should be dramatically simplified by removing all the clutter and getting a few key features right. I would much rather have a 2 or 3 great features than 10 poor ones.
Little battery impact!
The good: Doesn't kill your battery. I ran it continuously for 5.5 hrs and my Galaxy S5 went from 100% to 75%. Also took a few pics with Instagram. Also, the actual # of runs it recorded and where I went was reasonably accurate - it didn't correctly track our run down Upper Enchanted Forest (it said I was on Lillie G). Assume vertical and speed stats are OK. The bad: UI is inconsistent. When do I slide, when do I press the Android "back" button? The awful: Trail map and Head map totally miss some runs. Odd considering the # runs and trails was much more accurate. I understand you're trying to bring some unique value to Copper Mountain. I'd expect better considering the app is 2+ years old. I'll likely uninstall the app. Sorry.
Doesn't let me turn off Sherpa mode once it's on. I lost a whole days worth of stats because I forced the app closed because it only says, touch the llama to turn ON Sherpa mode."
Really cool and helpful
Would be good if hit could see you friends stats, or if you can I can't figure out how to do it. Nice idea keep taking it maybe make the user interface a little easier to use as well.
Doesn't follow Material Design or any other established UI guidelines. Even with all Audibles turned off, way too chatty. Don't need it telling jokes. Keeps pestering me to review runs and make my profile public. Lost the whole day's stats because the UI got stuck and I had to Force close the app. Did like it announcing each run, but there should be a way to turn that off. Announcing the stats at the end of each run was nice.
SUCKS!!!
2013: Most functions just open web pages on Copper's website. Trail maps are blurry. 2015: Changing my review to a 3. I tried Sherpa mode and it worked well. Still crashes.2016: tried Sherpa mode again. I like the speed/vertical info. Doesn't save it though. So if you go to another part of the app, its gone. Also, keeps reminding me that I don't have a headset that can save audibles. Annoying. Probably won't use again this year. Too bad.
App constantly crashes. Sometimes it tracks my runs, but usually doesn't. Way to many audibles and interruptions that aren't easily turned off. Hard to navigate this app
Stops woking quite a bit. Not a fan of constantly being booted.
Ok app. Crashes half the time you open it.
I am so happy they added a ski tracker. When they released the app I asked if they could and here it is this year!
I love love owing how many runs I've done, what distances I've covered, and the speed at which I'm going... and to top it off... discounts
It works now i can spy on my kids .
We're at Copper Mt for 9 days and it only recorded 3 runs.....would foreclose or freeze. Needs to be worked on a lot
Not perfect yet but keeps getting better with each update. I have enjoyed listening to the lift and ski run audibles with headphones. Also like the status at the end of the day.
Nexus 6. Crashes when you turn off Sherpa mode. Also crashed when I was trying to look at my last run, so you end up losing some runs recorded.
When I had a issue I sent an email and had a response very quickly and the fix worked. Thanks guys and keep it up
I verified my email but it keeps saying it can't create a profile at this time. Looks cool but can't make work.
Creating an account through the app fails every time. I created an account on the web but trying to log into it in the app fails every time.
Quick response from the developers resolved my login issues. Will update review after trying it out on the Mountain!
2013: Most functions just open web pages on Copper's website. Trail maps are blurry. 2014: App is better. Most functions still open web pages on Copper's web-site. Trail maps aren't blurry but using them are extremely slow when panning or zooming around. Haven't tried the Sherpa function yet. I'm still giving this a 2. Maybe if Sherpa is amazing when I try it I'll give it a 3. 2015: Changing my review to a 3. I tried Sherpa mode and it worked well. It got annoying after a while because I've been skiing at Copper for a long time, but I learned some stuff. Not sure if I will ever use it again, but I think it will be good for people who are newer to Copper.

While not a stipulation of the Ski Safety Act ... having an ear bud in whilst skiing is another distraction when sliding.
