Michael Morcombe's Field Guide to Australian Birds has been called the most comprehensive field guide to Australian birds in the market today and now it is perfectly complimented by the eGuide which features:

● Optimised controls – swipe to next or previous species, one-tap enlargement of an image and rotate the device (landscape) to enlarge an image completely (and fit the width of the screen).
● Over 3000 hi-res bird images covering over 790 bird species.
● Most bird species have a detailed distribution map showing any subspecies that occur.
● Detailed text descriptions of almost all bird species including songs and calls, measurements and breeding behaviour.
● Over 1800 carefully-selected and edited sound recordings for over 600 species. Many species are represented with multiple call examples showing the full range of vocalizations.
● The ability to compare any two images, maps, or sounds, side by side on the screen.
● The ability to filter by geographic location, so that you see only the species likely to occur in your location, and to further reduce the possibilities to usual or vagrant species in the selected area.
● A "Smart Search" that gives the ability to search by distinguishing features such as size, colour, physical features, habitat and exclude certain types of birds (eg. Passerines).
● *A basic personal species list that stores your sightings saved to the device (ability to upload list coming soon)
● A comprehensive help and introduction section to help you if you get stuck or don’t understand how a certain feature works.

* Uninstalling/reinstalling the program will result in the loss of your list, it is recommended that you keep a backup from the application (My List -> Export).

Thank you developers for the latest update. After many months of my favorite app rendered inoperable today's update has brought the app back to life. Now I can happily ID the birds around me again. I particularly love being able to use the bird call feature.

I am unable to download all the files for this app which I purchased a few years ago. I have uninstalled and tried to reinstall. I get a message something like you are missing 756 files of this app and you need to download them for the app to work. ( not exact words) when I try to download the download speed is exceptionally slow some like 40kbps . My download speed is usually about 1 MBps. Ultimately there is a loss of connection so the download fails. I have tried this on numerous occasions and the same thing always happens. I can download other apps from Play store without problems. So as I cannot use the app and have paid for it I am very disappointed.

I used this app heavily and enjoyed it for many years. It was an excellent data base with excellent features. Once I upgraded my android phone the app does not work. 'it is designed for earlier android versions' despite contacting the supplier I've heard nothing. Not surprising these days.

BUYER BEWARE - Won't work on new android systems!! IT WON'T EVEN DOWNLOAD to my new Samsung Galaxy S5. And this model is not even the latest model of Galaxy. I have LOVED this app on my old phone and it is fully paid for as well, but after multiple problems it just won't download. Just as other Samsung users have said. VERY SAD and no fix from the company!

Whenever I wake up in the morning, I hear a bird. I was wondering if its possible to include in this app the ability to record the song & then let the app's store of bird calls identify the particular bird.

I used to love this app until recent Samsung software updates rendered it useless. Now the app no longer opens and says it can't find storage. Emailed so called support months ago. Still no response other than the developers are working on it. Months down the track and two further software updates and this app is still useless. Sooooooo disappointing when you pay top dollar for an app and it turns out to be a total waste when "once upon a time" it was brilliant.

Easy to use, great audio quality of the bird calls. Definitely a must have out in the field. Wish I had it earlier! :D

This used to be great app but since android 6 it no longer works. Waiting 4 months and no update to the app. Anyone else have this issue?

Q70%

Have just spent 4 months travelling in WA. Found the regional filter worthless. Constantly included east coast and Tasmanian birds. Smart search is clunky, badly arranged with poor descriptions. Developers do not seem to respond to feedback for improvement. Look at the other bird app before purchasing this.

I use this app extensively and it is awesome. Occasionally I find an anomaly where birds in my selected location don't show in the list even though their distribution does. I think the app would benefit if you could choose your location by touching the map of Australia. I have recommended this app to many friends. It is worth every cent and many more. Love the latest update 8/1/16.

Won't move data to external SD card on Galaxy Tab 3 10inch. Says it can't detect other suitable location. Multiple failed attempts before getting it to download. Manual download procedure doesn't work. Only diagrams no pictures but at least you can zoom in on them (unlike the competing app);

Excellent value. The calls of Australian birds at a fraction of the price of the CD's I bought some years ago and far easier to navigate, especially in the field. With a few clicks it becomes a guide to one of 18 regions, most of which have nothing published specifically for them. This should be a big time saver for beginners. This is the biggest advance in bird identification since the publication of the Slater field guides c. 1970. I would have given it 5 stars but for the drama I had installing it on my android device.

It is easy to use, contains extensive information and allows me to log my finds easily. I love using the audio function to identify birds by their songs.

T70%

Z70%

Does the job well, but lacks user friendly touches such as showing on the bird's page whether that bird has been logged. Given the price, some effort should be put into bells and whistles.

Z70%
by Z####:

The app says you can download the 350Mb of data from the website but there is no link to any data on the site and no reply from the developers to my repeated emails. I'm sure it's great but I can't afford to install it at this time.
