About Connected Mind (mind mapping)

Mind mapping apps fall into two camps:
• true mind mapping - as first described by Tony Buzan in his book called "Use Your Head"
• pseudo mind mapping - a chart where text is horizontal and usually in bubbles with automatic layout

Connected Mind is the only app (other than Buzan's own iMindMap) that aims to support true mind mapping. The key difference is that true mind maps are unique, personalised and distinctive, which helps make them memorable. In contrast, pseudo mind maps all tend to look very similar.

Revolutionary free hand drawing
Using Connected Mind’s revolutionary freehand drawing features you can quickly create unique mind maps that are very easy to maintain. It’s just like using pen and paper but better. Connected Mind takes full advantage of touch interfaces, which are perfect for the hand-drawn approach. This gives you complete control over the layout of your maps. You can easily include images and shapes or select from a rainbow of colors and fonts to personalize your maps. Simple touch screen commands provide direct and intuitive control. Tap anywhere on a branch to change or resize, press down to reposition the branch on the canvas or press the end of the branch to quickly relink it to a new parent.

Safe, secure and available everywhere
Backing up your mind maps in the Connected Mind cloud is a breeze, free of charge and ensures your masterpieces always stay safe and secure. Once in the cloud you can continue to play with your favorite mind maps on any other android tablet or phone, iPad or a windows/mac/chromebook computer that has Chrome installed.

What is Mind Mapping?
Mind mapping helps you learn to visually organize and link concepts, ideas, words and images around a central topic. In today’s world we suffer from information overload. Connected Mind provides you with a creative way to structure the information so that it makes sense to you personally.

Helping students learn
When you learn a new concept, you add it to the appropriate place in the mind map. In order to do that, you have to analyze the patterns, structures, and connections of concepts within your topic. This promotes better understanding, memorization, and recall, as well as the ability to apply knowledge in new situations. Connected Mind offers enough flexibility to maintain interest and encourage curiosity while still providing the structure that keeps you on track as a learner.

The Toolbox includes:
✓ 34 funky fonts
✓ 38 adjustable character sizes
✓ 27 different resizable shapes

It's a 10 Star App, and I'm giving it 9. Only problem I have, too many menus. Wish the text, undo, delete and the other main functions were on the Toolbar, and the sub menus were where the MAIN MENU is now, and/or a long tap menu. When you're critiquing, you're tapping like a banshee lol. App is awesome, Thank You!

It is so convenient as if I were working on paper. Great app!

I love this app! Just one little problem, the Dropbox syncing won't let me change to my preferred Dropbox account. The app doesn't seem to show my new Dropbox account, only the old one that I don't use anymore. Any ideas?

This is a terrific app. Very conducive to creative thinking and brain storming. Thanks to dev for fixing the cloud connect on Samsung devices. App goes well with pressure sensitive stylus.

Good app. I have the paid version. Mind mappings are meant to be landscape is there any way I can rotate the blank sheet at the beginning? I seem to be stucl in portrait mode which is restrictive. Also more space would be lovely! Thanks.

Overall this is pretty good, it does what I expect of a mind map and does it pretty well. Where it falls over, and ultimately becomes a non runner for me is: -shapes are not linked. If I move a shape on the end of a branch, I just want to move it to make room, it should still be connected via a line to its previous shape. There is no linking in this way tho, so reorganisation becomes a massive pain. -related to point 1,i can't select a full map and move it about my page, I have to do it one by One

Placing one shape on the center works fine. Drawing a curve out of it works fine. But that's where it all ends. If you try placing another shape, it may disappear at random. Puff. Vanished. Any semi-decent mindmapping app keeps a track of nodes: you just can't lose a shape, it is in the list of shapes with relationships that you set. Here's it's just wild set of sprites placed randomly, unrelated, unaccounted for. There is no hierarchy. There is no collapsing trees. There is no linking between shapes. If you try to adjust a curve, it adds more pivotal points and quickly becomes unmanageable: instead of moving a point it adds one more and moves it. The curves replicate themselves at random. The fonts are distorted to the degree of being unreadable. Most menu/button actions result in this error message, quote: "Your update could not be applied. Please try again.". Here goes my award for the worst application feedback. No import or export, persist only in private cloud. For just drawing, this app is useless too, because lots of free drawing apps offer better features. You can't use this app for anything practical. This is total waste of money. It's not even alpha quality, it's junk.

User-friendly app. Useful for developing and sharing ideas but also for creating diagrams for presentations. Some improvements would be warmly welcome. Especially: option of saving different version of the same map under the different names and the wider choice of both target folder and the format of the saved file

Cool app. I saw the video. Bought it to find that it cannot render arabic font correctly. Words are sepperated and inverted. Ok thankfully the Dev called and I detailed the issue. He promised to fix. Update: The dev says it is an Android 2.x problem.

T70%

This app gets more and more professional with each update. Keith's system requires you to focus on the visual layout of your ideas, and helps you focus and think through how things connect and what dependencies really exist. Fantastic web client on Chrome. Wholeheartedly recommended.

Best mindmapping for android. Love how you can draw the lines squiggly and they stay that way. Only thing I miss is being able to draw my own figure in the app (as opposed to importing images I've sketched in another app).

INCREDIBLE UPDATES!!! I love this program, though there are a couple of things that would make it nicer for my projects. Guess what? I just contacted the programmer and got a response about future implementations! Is that great customer service or what? Great now, better in the future, truely recommendable.

B70%
by B####:

Nothing fancy here, at first glance it looks quite ordinary & second best to some of those bells & whistles apps. But the cleverness here is in the design, it really helps with memory recall, you don't waste your time designing pretty maps, you just create spider-grams intuitively & it really helps with your revision. Have tried out a few mind maps and they don't come close to this.

Q70%
by Q####:

The ui is straightforward. I like the ability to write on the lines rather than on bubbles. My only complaint so far is that the page size seems limiting for a large map. It needs more vertical distance.

T70%
by T####:

Not a bad mind mapping program. The ability to draw everything by yourself is a plus, but unlike Mindjet, it's hard to incorporate images, thumbnails, and pre-loaded objects into the map. Your main competitor is that app, and if you were to somehow work in pre-loaded symbols, the ability to insert an image from a google search, or expandable bullets I'd give this a 5.

K70%
by K####:

Not what I would expect for a mind mapping app. Doesn't even connect the shapes in any useful way.

Q70%

The auto expand should exist. Im having hard time arranging the ideas when im already at the edge of the map. I also need something like auto arrange feature so that i dont have to arrange the spacing between lines or shapes. The other feature like expand or collapse will be great to simplify if working with lots of ideas.... cant wait for these features....

I like its freehand approach to drawing a mind map, but the the app is not very nicely design and looks half-baked. Overall I still like it the most among the mindmap apps out there.

I'm very excited to use this product. It has very easy to use features. The only drawback being I am unable to create very large scale mindmaps

The only reason why I have it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the image features are currently limited. The developer is very open to feedback and responsive though. Best overall mind mapping app in my opinion

P70%

==TOC== 1) request features 2) User Review 1) request feature A shape that links to another mindmap. I can see that collapse branches can be tricky in this kind of app. Would it be possible to include an option for a shape to link to another Mindmap. So clking shape opens the linked Mindmap. 2) User Review Easy to use, customize colors of the shapes, background and branches. Rearranging is easy and definitely fun to make Mindmaps with this app. Also has Dropbox support.
