About SENSERE
SENSERE BIOGRAPHY
Sensere, a gospel, neo-soul and rock band based in South Florida began their musical journey in the winter of 2003. James E. Wright, lll, formed the band. The group steps back into the past, but simultaneously are bursting forth into the future with a rock-infused soul-based gospel sound. The band’s music has a sprinkling of live horns, guitars, and shocking vocals to complete their total sound. Sensere’s style was created and inspired by the essence of true men and is one of the most authentic live sounds in Christian/Gospel music today.
Sensere’s debut album, “Senserely Yours,” won over many supporters in South Florida. Their sophomore release, “The Soul of Future Worship, Vol. 1” CD is being well received in Chicago, Florida and other areas. Wright Sound & God’s Turn Records independently distribute the label and they are rapidly earning recognition and securing Sensere a spot as a tour de force in gospel music.
Sensere received accolades from Paul Anderson of The Entertainment Bank. “If you enjoy top notch musicianship and off the hook vocals, you’ll definitely be impressed by Sensere’s new album. The group has an innovative sound that brings back memories of, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Temptations and Earth, Wind and Fire simultaneously, combined with the soulful vocals of Motown and Neo Soul. Sensere truly takes gospel to a completely new level with their unique brand. It’s excellent from start to finish”. This is a perfect example of what can happen when truly talented musicians and vocalists press forth to use the talents that God has given them, and they give it back to Him and His people with worship and praise.
While their talent was undeniable, things really began to change regarding their exposure after collaborating with music veteran Eddie Pugh in 2008. Pugh worked with Warner bros, Casablanca records & film work and Columbia records and his keen eye for talent has helped other artist in the past rise to the top. Pugh’s connection with James Wright (founder of Sensere), stated, “Divine intervention connected us.”
Wright’s talents are in his genes, he played with his father’s gospel band for at least a year. Wright also writes, arranges, produces, plays lead guitar, drums, bass, keyboards and does b/g vocals for Sensere. In 2009 Sensere’s new birth came through the recruiting of Brian Williams, Terrell Terry (vocals), Wildmayer Marcelin (guitar and sax), Darryl Efford (trumpet), Charles McKay (trombone) and John (John John) Robinson (drums). The original members Dwayne Charlton(vocals) and James Wright would witness this new era of Sensere. Wright stated, “Each of these guys are accomplished vocalists and musicians and could be perusing other careers. Nevertheless, all of them had the same vision as I, to trust God totally and put everything on the line regarding our mission. To touch as many lives and spirits as possible, to minister to people’s minds and hearts, and I needed a band that was willing to go all the way with me in that endeavor. We are partners in this journey, and everyone has input. Everyone is important; everyone believes in what we are doing and has a heart for Jesus. This is not about fame; it’s about hope and directing light to His people that He’s entrusting to us to deliver through song.” Wright is grateful that the entire band is on one accord, and it shows when they minister to the masses.
