About Music Theory: Key Signatures

This key signature app for music theory uses a reflective practice method of learning. This includes short practice tests, instead of reading and rereading which has been shown to be an ineffective method of learning compared to reflective practice.

Features include:

 Short practice tests from nine different key signature categories, which covers all grades of music theory.

 The nine key signature categories to choose from are:

1. major sharps
2. minor sharps
3. major flats
4. minor flats
5. major sharps & flats
6. minor sharps & flats
7. major & minor sharps
8. major & minor flats
9. major & minor sharps & flats

 Each key signature test is saved and you can view a line graph of your results, so as to monitor your key signature music theory progress over time.

 A bar comparison graph is also available, enabling you to compare your results among the main key signature categories - major sharps, minor sharps, major flats and minor flats.

 Clues are provided but optional, and if used will be noted in your results graph.

After several attempts using clues, aim to get 100% without clues and with a fast recall.

Can you answer all the key signature questions in under 20 seconds?

Simple to use app, and works nicely for what it does. Tests you on your key signatures, but doesn't teach or train you. You can look them up, and select either major/minor, sharps/flats, but no way to introduce them e.g. one at a time. I'm sure this is great for people at a very specific level: already know the key signatures pretty well, but want to increase automaticity. That seems quite niche to me.
