XFINITY WiFi Hotspots for Android
Connection problems... exaggerated WiFi zone coverage... trying to connect to WiFi when there is a signal is like a dog chasing is own tail... I do not recommend waiting your time... and Comcast customer service ours they worst I've seen yet...
The map feature with hotspot locations works well. The part of the app I care about. Signing in to Xfinity wifi does not work even a little. This app is essentially an annoying notification generator. With a built in map showing you where you will get notifications.
Useless. Will not let me sign in or connect to wifi hotspots. I keep getting error code 0108 even though I know empirically that the username and password are both correct. This seems to be a common problem and there's no answer as to what causes it.
I hope Comcast is listening and will improve this app. There are several puzzling behaviors. This app insists on a data connection before showing WiFi hotspot info, which is kind of missing the point! When I directly try to connect to Xfinity networks from a browser, the web page insists on full login and device naming every single time with zero memory or consideration for user convenience. It insists on installing and using this app even though this app is already installed. The app itself has never been useful in connecting or authenticating. It's got to be simpler and straightforward to connect to Xfinity networks than how it's done today.
I just opened it, so, I'll let y'all know. I actually didn't know I had this app... I went to download it, with GREAT reluctance, and there it was... If toi wanna know why so reluctant, let's just say, I was hoping Google Play Store wasn't the only installment app. You should use other installment apps... Just sayin. Also, it doesn't look like the app is getting very good marks.
I keep signing in and then it shows connected, might even pull up a website, then it stops working and then the Wi-Fi won't work, only 4g lte works to connect to the internet on my phone, when I am at work. but my home wi fi works fine. Not sure if it is the app or some setting on my phone. Ok so it works well at most places but the place I am the most which is the Comcast call center it won't work at all. So I concluded that it wasn't the fault of the app but because the Wi-Fi at the Comcast call center doesn't work.
Useless. Won't save my credentials, won't connect me to any hotspots automatically (I just connect manually and have uninstalled this), doesn't even have a tenth of the Xfinity hotspots that I can see in my devices wireless settings. It also crashes A LOT. This app is a waste of storage space.
It will not save username and password. I have free unlimited data anyhow with my cell carrier. It is HIGHLY annoying to get notifications to log in and re-enter information every few hours.
Disappointed in xfinity. Galaxy s8 with all settings as directed will NOT auto connect to x xfinity hot spots. As such phone uses more Verizon data which is not as good as the att data I left. Contacted cust care via text option with no response. Hope this gets better because I feel like I've gone back in time
Hot pile of poop. Cannot get it to authenticate even after resetting my password. Seems like Comcast put this out as a marketing gimmick with little to no effort to actually work. Repeatedly asks me to authenticate.
You have to be right on top of the spot in order to get good reception... if you are near enough to the spot you have trouble to use your data because it keeps trying to switch to wifi
Really not needed. There are several Superior WiFi apps that do same and much more. I simply sign in to acct app and I'm good. Not to mention the coverage zones are highly exaggerated. Lastly, why the forced lock screen? Not all of us like it. It's not like it would prevent a thief from reaching internet. (LTE) The only real use I could see is if you were going on a long trip and wanted to use free WiFi as much as possible. So for now. The security it advertised is nothing more than forcing you to use the lock screen. I'm good w Avast anti theft.
I think this app is a borderline, bipolar mess! I know where you can get the hotspots and I will even show you WHERE you can get the hotspots. I'll even allow you to think you can actually connect to a hotspot or maybe I'll let you connect for a millisecond and immediately disconnect you repeatedly, but you can't really have or use my hotspot for any meaningful purpose. Doesn't that sound like a real bag of hot poo to you?
I have AT&T and whenever I install this.... it f**** up my wifi mywifi will disconnect on any network after 30 seconds restoring doesn't even fix it. I don't know how or why but I suspect it's the AT&T wifi which is pre-installed and using this. Even disable AT&T wifi and uninstalled xfinitywifi. I've used this on about five devices new phones and old phones Amazon fire with Play Store and Nokia's Windows phone I get the same result. Amazon Fire tablet is not through AT&T or has AT&T Wi-Fi yet the issue is there still
The app rarely functions properly and requires multiple sign ins and still doesn't connect. Also, it doesn't save your sign in credentials so you end up signing in multiple times in short periods of time and many times it still doesn't connect even with a strong signal. I have called support but they don't know how to resolve the issue. The only good thing is it show where the hotspots are but can't connect to them.
for 3 days now, it acts like its connected, except that its not, and for some reason it wont anymore. i have logged off, adjusted settings like wifi was sexy i was justin timberlake bringing it back.. i dont know what to do. all it says is "Ready to connect when network quality improves" ...like every single time. i think i may have even lost a few good strands of hair to the Wirey White Nothingness God over this... if you have suggestions, please, remember, sharing is caring ...????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
The app has proved useful to find if there is any way to get connected to the internet. I don't have a big data plan so it's great to see the expanding xfinity network connections I can use. The only problem I have is when I'm in a building and there are multiple choices in connections that it could help me find the one i need to use. But great work so far and look forward to additional improvements ????
I was instructed to download this app by a Comcast representative. I was told it would be simple to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots pretty much anywhere. So far the only thing the app has done is find the WiFi hotspots but it will not connect to them. By the way, the app shows that I am logged in with the correct email and password in, other words, my Comcast credentials are correct and it still will not connect to any of the WiFi networks that I've attempted to connect with.
Hotspots are useless if you can't stay connected for even a full minute without reconnecting. I'm in a big city, in a large condo complex, not a rural area. No one at Comcast has been able to help me with this. One agent told me to call back when I'm at home, connected to my own network. -Really?! Very frustrating! It's not a benefit if it doesn't work and I can't use it. NOT HAPPY.
I'm not quite sure what to do in this app...other than login with username ∧ password for xfinity account to see surrounding xfinity Wi-Fi signal that is available. But does it automatically link my phone to the xfinity WiFi? Or does it connect me only to the locked Xfinity WiFi and not just the unsecured WiFi signal.? And why am I always seeing a notification pop up most of the time stating that the WiFi network for "xfinity" is not connected to the internet? Of its a free WiFi signal then why is it never available or connected to the internet? .
My device signed in automatically before this BS app. I'm serious that's it. now it doesn't even sign in automatically sometimes with the app running . you have to leave this energy battery RAM memory storage consuming app running all the time or it doesn't sign your machine into the network Xfinity boned us with this one
Most of listed WiFi locations are obsolete or incorrect. I found an outdoor WiFi location and i am in middle of the signal strength where app indicated but there is no such available wifi. I tried several other locations but this app seems useless. Littleton, Colorado. I took photos of location but unfortunately I can't attach photo to this review.
This app is fine, the xfinity WiFi service is very inconsistent. Sometimes it seamlessly connects from my cellphones data to xfinity WiFi, no data interruption, which is perfect. Other times, there is no internet for a good minute once connected. And when you're in the middle of doing something when it automatically connects, but doesn't provide data, then it is really inconvenient. It just stops ya dead in your tracks...
This app does not work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ot 3 times with the same results....no connection. Despite logging into the app successfully, it refers me to a browser to login in again! Then it tells me to install the app...that is already installed. The indicates available Wi-Fi in the area, but tells me that I do not have internet connection. All of the xfinity hotspots show that no internet is available. This app is broken. Tried over the last 3 weeks at different locations
Not sure why comcast did it, but it was a nice PR move.. They made available something like 30,000 mobile hotsports in florida for hurricane Irma.... Still dont know why considering when power goes out so does hotspot.... So what good was it
Disappointed. I wanted this app for secure Xfinity connections. I can connect to unsecured xfinitywifi hotspots okay. Usually though, I am unable to connect to secured Xfinity hotspots. Authentication fails. Also, this app requires me to log on again each time that I start it. That is time-consuming and annoying. If I might be doing something wrong, please advise.
This app was supposed to automatically connect to Xfinity wifi. It does not, and when I try to login into Xfinity wifi, it says I need this app. This is an utter an complete failure. I pay for Comcast internet, and yet I cannot use any of there WiFi hotspots which they claim are included. Please fix this app.
If it would retain my password, log me in, and not REQUIRE "Location" to be turned on (which sucks my battery), I'd find some use for it. Instead, every time I log in it requires that I install this app--BUT IT IS ALREADY INSTALLED. What a nightmare of a worthless application!!!!!!
Only had it a short while, but can't seem to find a hotspot that I can connect to although I see ten in the area. Signal strengths of hotspots I can connect to are poor or constantly say disabled. After being told I could find a hotspot in many places like the beach or up the hill from where I live, I expected more connectivity and instead there is none. Feels like a worthless app.
Have no idea how to make app connect to wifi. It comes up with an android login, then tells me I have to download this program. Um...I have it. Then when I'm driving, it keeps poping up a connect message while in waze. Should just auto connect and disconnect instantaneously. Poorly written app. Should be more seamless.
Would be nice if this app would allow me to select my own home wifi as a preferred wifi instead of signing me into xfinity wifi every time I come home. Also annoying when the app logs you into wifi's that are useless, forcing you to turn wifi on and off. Helps me save some mobile data, this app is nice at times, but is not as useful as it might seem. Could use improvement
Works awfully. Sends me 3 notifications every hour that my login failed, and I have to manually log in each time. Used to be able to use xfinity WiFi perfectly well until they required this app!
I lose connection from my X1 connection when I change rooms or even move on the couch with the modem on the end table. (My cell phone). My regular phones will suddenly disconnect an go to the fast busy tone. My cell does this also. I can't keep a wireless connection just going out side of my house. Very annoying
Simply does not work. Just keeps saying "has stopped working". You would think a big company like Xfinity would care enough to address this problem, but I guess it's a classic case of take the money and run.
Completly worthless app to get secure wifi on the go from my provider. I literally have to uninstall and reinstall this app at every new location to even get wifi in the xfinity secure network. Oh and it doesn't have to be a "new" location just a new session. You have to have wifi to use the location finder app, unless your on a mobile network and duh unlimited.
Usually finding Xfinity hotspots is not that difficult. Having to log in every time is inconvenient. This app provides nothing but a hoptspot finder, which many other apps do as well or better without using nearly as much resources. Feedback function creates an email to an address that bounces. I cannot recommend this app till basic functionality gets fixed.
The app leads you to hotspots that are not accessible or are not functioning properly. No way to report issues to Comcast no support of any kind. The new filter helps resolve the first issue so raised rating to 3 stars
Every time I open the app,.i have to sign in. That is not the problem. The problem is if I close the app after signing in, then open it again at a later time, it asks me to sign in again and add my same devices to account. I use S8 +, My xfinity account has the S8+ as a registered device 10 times (because I logged in 10 separate times).
So I've had this app for over a year have not been able to use it. When going to different hot spots to try to use it it forces me to add a password. To me it's completely useless.

Upon connection, Xfinity keeps telling me that I must have this App installed in order to use the service. I HAVE this app installed. It's like whack a mole. Like something Franz Kafka could have come up with.
