Torch for Android
If you're after a flashlight app then get this one. Works perfectly and doesn't ask for dodgy permissions to trace your movements or steal bank details. The app is lightweight and they also show you their code which helps to prove they don't want to track you
Works fine on Galaxy S Captivate running CM7 nightly (no LED flash on phone). Very light and fast app with good permissions set. I'd like to see an option to or an automatic jump to 100% screen brightness when activated, and return to previous state when done. That would make it 5 stars in my opinion. Edit: not fond of the fact that it doesn't keep the screen on and there's no option to do so. Very annoying when trying to use it in a tight spot.
I've never rated any app till date but I was compelled to rate this one because it is too good... This is THE best app mate. Keep it up! ;)
-small in size, the lowest footprint compared to similar apps, probably just the code needed to run it and start the flash. -it doesn't ask for extra permissions, only access to the camera, in order to use the led module. -no ads, no activity monitoring, no backdoors, no selling of your info to third parties. -no frills, no thrills, no extras which most people never use, it just does what it's supposed to. -it doesn't turn itself off when screen is locked (tested on my Galaxy S2) -totally FREE.
I just installed this app but I am way super impressed by the functionality & simplicity, for starters, app is only 24kb, tell me when last did any app come that small. 2ndly, it comes on in LESS than a sec, uses the whole touchscreen as a toggle button, doesn't stream adverts & most important of all doesn't load crap on your phone or do stuffs behind your back!
I had this app on an Xperia an the best bit about this app was that you could use the torch while the screen was locked. I now have a HTC one mini but the feature is not available for this model, please fix it as it would defo be a five star app, cheers
Tends to have its own mind of when it turns on and off. Turns off with screen saver which is Stoopid. Otherwise good small app. Yet to find better.
This app only uses your screen, Not LED, total rubbish.
It took me a while to find a torch apply that didn't ask to read my phone's identity or ask for Internet access, but eventually I found this one. And it's great: it's simple and effective, and works like a charm on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Nice!
I've used this app on two other phones and it's the best torch app available put there. Unfortunately though it doesn't work on the Nexus 5 :-/
No support for the zte warp. Please find away to make it work on the zte warp thank you.
Works great. Love long press search button launch feature. Finally found a flashlight that doesn't want to know my gps location and internet access.
dumbass torches with internet permissions! the permissions of this app is just right
Just brightens the screen. A bit rubbish to be honest.
Works perfect with my samsung galaxy s2. No adds- tne of the better apps on the market!
I would give it 5 but as it's on my screen it dims when i am not touching the screen and then i have to tap the screen twice to get it to turn back to torch again fix that and i give 5:)
Malware free flashlight app, and you can even go read the source code. Thank you Colin. I've never written an app to turn the light on and off, and your project is educational also.
I can't open this app but I see in the picture that this torch is good so I will rate it 4 star thanks,I wish to have another good app that I can open thank you soooooo much!!!! Muah <3
This would be a 5 as it works well, consumes almost no battery and has a tiny memory requirement, but (despite the description) my screen still continually times out and turns off.
Works perfectly. Is a torch plain and simple. It has a simple user interface, screen is tinted when opened touch screen to turn torch on and off, press back key to exit. Works perfectly on the Google(LG) Nexus 4.
Simple and useful. It doesn't have any extra features, but it works perfectly for what it is
Plain. Simple. Does what it is supposed to do, just turns on the led. No ads, no other useless features to eat up your internal memory. App size is almost negligible, that's what I love about this app. Thanks. This is exactly what I needed.
Great app. Does exactly what you need. One touch activates the led light, one touch stops it. No unnecessary permissions needed (ie network access) just the camera. Thank you for this lovely little app.
Design follows function. Well done! One bug I found. When switched off light and screen goes off as well, phone screen does not switch on. I guess it freezes with screen off.
Does not even ask for a rating.... But i came all the way ... Searched this app n rated it 5 stars.... If u want a torch download this....this is a torch nothing else...
I really do wonder why most other equivalent apps require full network access to turn on your flippin LED
This app works well as a torch, but doesn't switch off properly. It will automatically switch on some times, and my mobile was left with torch on for 2 hours. And finally when I noticed that torch was on, phone became absolutely hot. I immediately uninstalled this application.
Finally a really awesome simple & elegant torch app... great for launching by gestures and such, which is exactly what I wanted :-)
Xperia arc s. Best torch/flashlight App what you can get. Simple Click icon=on back button=off thats all Excellent.
It is not working in ice cream sandwich.. when I was using ginger bird it works superb.
A very simple app that does exactly what you need it to do with no extra frills. One tap on the app turns the light on. Another tap on the screen turns the light off. And pressing the back button turns it off entirely. Very efficient and very intuitive. It's also an incredibly small app, which I really like! The only issue with this app is that you can't use it while other apps on the phone. It's still good though!
Had this on my RAZR m ...just got a nexus 6 and does not work. Love this app hoping for a fix soon. Thanks
Perfect app. Didn't need permissions for anything and simple to use. Got this as KitKat didn't have a torch app but after the update to Lollipop there is now a native torch function for my phone. Great while I needed it.
OK on Orange SanFrancisco BUT doesnt override auto dimming, which means the torch goes a bit dim when the phone is used in the dark, which is silly
This does not work on Galaxy GT-S5830i. LED does not light up but screen goes white. But works fine on Galaxy S II.
Does exactly what it says puts the torch on and nothing else. Only asks for the permissions it needs not like other torch apps. A++ app!
Just what i needed. Tap to stop, tap again to resume. Works on Galaxy SII :-)
I used this app until i found out it has permission to take picture and video without you knowing!.seriously?! Its a stupid flashlight why it needs permission to take picture! Very fishy! be careful! Always check permissions! why finding a fu... Flashlight is such a hassle!
Doesn't work on samsung epic 4g. Doesn't use the led, only white screen.

Issues with app keeping phone in awake state when not in use. This drains the battery. Case in point: Used torch for about 5 secs to find something under my sofa. Just short of 10 hours later and I see it's used 29% of battery power due to having kept phone in awake state for 9hrs 50 minutes. So, effectively it's used 29% of my battery for 5 secs of use. Poor.
