Orientation Control for Android
After closer inspection it seems there is a tradeoff with this kind of apps that causes stutters in fps intensive games and also videos. There are better free alternatives that give option to disable when needed so I'm dropping the rating..
1. Reverse landscape doesn't work at all. 2. Locked screen only keeps orientation when set to Autorotate, otherwise reverts to landscape left. There are better, free alternatives with tasker plugins.
Works fine on Sony tablet S. It's a life saver in certain situations. Icon randomly disappears from the toolbar and I'm not quite sure why we need "portrait mode" AND "forced portrait mode"?!
We bought this for two phones, both Motorola MB520 running Android 2.2.2. It worked great -- when it worked. However, it often froze our phones with a black screen that resumed after a few minutes (not seconds). After uninstalling this app, we've had no such problems.
The app does as advertised. However it was designed pre-accessibility era, so the app is constantly fighting for position on the notifications bar. It needs to be updated, as the flickering is really annoying.
I like to watch tv & videos on my Bionic while it's in Landscape resting on kickstand. I can flip it around now & put power/hdmi inputs at top now.
This works as intended. On a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Honeycomb 3.1, you get an icon in the Status Bar and clicking it brings up a menu with 6 choices allowing any of the 4 ways of Orienting your tablet and locking it in place, or not. I downloaded 3 other Free versions, they didn't work - go try them, and when you want to do it right, download this app. I emailed my suggestion to the developer how great it is and to also include "Lock Current Orientation" option
i hv searched forever to lock my streak to potrait until i gave up. but this app do it easily, without root, without bs! kudos!
Before ics, it worked fine. But after ics, I can't use reversed portrait mode for some applications, for example, temple run. Please correct this function which I usually use.
Works great on Dell Streak running streakdroid 2.4 (2.3 gingerbread)! And it's the only thing that works with streak5 as far as I know
Doesnt work anymore after upgrading sony tablet s to ics...pls update! Cant get reverse portrait to work now...
Doesn't work when phone is locked. Screen reverts to portrait mode. E-mailed coin soft and no response they can't even bother to respond to questions
Motorola XOOM It once worked quite well with Android 3.x. But after the OS upgraded to 4.0, 'reversed landscape' doesn't reverse. Though I'm not sure this defect is caused by the OS or this app.
If you have a cover for your tablet with a flap to cover front, and your OS is or will be upgrading to ICS, don't get this app. They're not updating to support it and some controls DON'T work. There's updated ones in the market.
I bought this to work around the lack of landscape homescreens in ICS. While I can now force landscape, I want auto rotate. Please fix this.
Since I upgraded my Nexus S to ICS, the phone would go into landscape mode when desk-docked. This doesn't make sense for the Nexus S, since most docks put the phone in portrait orientation. Also, I use Jefit Pro, a fitness app. Its screen orientations are very unpredictable, especially when the phone is tied to my left upper arm. With Orientation Control and its Tasker Plugin (perfect!), I have been able to fix these nagging problems. ---- Edit ---- Orientation Control seems to be 'fighting' with ICS while docked. Now and then (every couple of minutes) it will go back to landscape mode, then revert back to portrait mode. So 'locking' is not really 'locking', it seems. 4 stars for now. 5 when the problem is fixed!
There needs to be a widget that will lock the screen in whatever orientation you are currently holding the phone at, or one that you push the widget, turn the phone and then it locks on that orientation. Needs auto portrait and auto landscape mode. Poor developer response. Try ultimate orientation lock.
Want reversed lanscape to maximise use of tablet case - however doesnt work. Running android v4.0.3
My Note 3 recently came down with a bug where the auto rotation would intermittently turn itself off. I'd spent the last month poring over one forum after another trying all sorts of potential fixes, nothing worked. At last I found a thread where someone suggested using this and changing the behavior of double tapping the home button to activate the Orientation Switch. It works!! And it's such a speedy/fast/reliable solution. Thank you!!
Awesome app. Tasker capabilities are exactly what I was looking for, except it sometimes doesn't switch to reverse portrait mode when tasker asks it to. When I try to do it manually, Orientation Switch acts as if it IS in reverse portrait, so I have to mark "Portrait" then "Reverse Portrait" again to make it happen.
This app was a life saver on my Sony Tablet S. But since the Ice Cream Sandwich update it no longer sees a difference between "Portrait" and "Reverse Portrait." They are the same. This is important since my tablet is wedge shaped. Once they fix that for ICS, I will give it five stars.
Dropped my phone,G-sensors busted, not working anymore. This solved the problem, thanks!
Needs force rotate capability so that home screen auto rotates. HTC Desire 816 android 4.4.2. Then I'll give 5 stars...
I use a button (long press recent) to launch a custom app (this app, in this case) to be able to switch between portrait and landscape with one button anywhere! Really good job.
In ICS, reverse portrait mode has some problem. At first it didn't work, but after clicking my some widget( which toggles auto display rotation) it worked. So I suggest that you turn on auto ratation mode and then run this app's reverse portrait. If you use an automation apps like locale or tasker, you can make it do at one click as you know.
Honestly unless you have a landscape physical QWERTY keyboard, you can't get the Sense UI home screen on landscape mode. This works!
Works exactly as stated, perfect for working with a wrist case or while in bed. Glad someone finally made this app.
Not only does it work it locks my homescreen to landscape. I think i love you guys
This seems to be the only way to keep my made-in-hong-gong 2.3 tablet EITHER in landscape or portrait. I am pleased to pay 1.50 of that, thanks.
I searched years for an app like this. finally i can manually rotate the screen.. FINALLY
Needs force rotate capability so that home screen auto rotates. HTC Desire 816 android 4.4.2. Then I'll give 5 stars...
I can finally read ebooks in portrait orientation without having to disconnect the dock. :)
I'm surprised no-one else has done true orientation lock before. Fantastic work :)
...but the latest update messes with the camera on Galaxy Note. Have had to uninstall until it's fixed :(
My tablet always forces rotation when I attach it to the keyboard dock, butt thanks to this app, it does what I want it to do! Loads of customization options and taskbar icon makes this very easy to use. Thanks for making this!
When connected through MHL HDMI adapter, the phone automatically goes into landscape mode. Nothing was working until I tried this app.
I have a nexus 4 and the reverse portrait doesn't work. But when I switch to auto it will reverse portrait the screen for a sec then turn back to normal. Everything else works as advertised.
I very rarely write reviews or buy apps, but this one is worth every second and cent! So many great old apps (and even many new ones) default to portrait mode and can't be rotated. This app literally saved my neck (from bending to look at stuff sideways - before you laugh, I have an Asus Transformer, and it's awkward to turn the thing sideways with the keyboard attached).
simply awesome...jst luv it,has revrse landscape mode which i really needed for my sg2...TNXXXX :)

Bought this to fix the issue with the new Spotify client not showing properly in landscape mode (i.e. when pad is docked). Locking the pad into landscape mode with this app does make Spotify display correctly in landscape so it works perfectly for my needs.
