About The Off Button

*Compatibility*
This remote control will work on any Android phone that has an IR blaster to control TVs. The only exlcusion is LG G2 before Android KitKat

*How does it work?*
The Off Button has a database of 367 universal IR codes that will power off any TV in seconds. This functions like a TV-B-Gone for your phone!

*How do I use The Off Button?*
The steps needed to control any TV are simple:
1. Direct the signal towards the TV you want to control.
2. The universal remote control then cycles through every IR power code.
3. During this cycle, the correct IR power code will be sent from the universal remote control to direct your TV to turn off.

*Saved Codes*
Does cycling through all codes take too long? Now you can save a specific code that turns off a specific brand or model of TVs. Saved codes come directly from the 367 code database, all you need to do is directly specify the name and number of the signal.

*Send Continuously*
Utilize the send continuously check box to control a whole wall of TV's remotely. You can also continuously cycle a single TV just by aiming the remote control blaster at the TV.

*The On Button?*
Want to turn the TV back on again? Remote control signals which turn TV's off also will turn TV's back on. Similar to your remote control, the IR code is merely a universal power toggle. It will directly turn the TV off or on depending on the current state of the TV.

The Off Button will not universally work on any phone. Only phones with IR Blasters to direct the TV signals are compatible. If your device is able to direct TV's like a remote control and this app says it is not compatible, please contact me so I can turn off the incompatibility warning for your device.

*Tips*
-Make sure you are pointing the unlock button (IR Blaster) of the phone directly at the TV as you would a remote. The distance needs to be similar as well
-It does take several minutes to go through all 360+ codes, but the most common codes will be in the first 50 - 100. I can't speed this up any, as transmitting an IR code takes a finite amount of time. Even a universal remote control would take several minutes to cycle through all codes. Try saving a code for quick access!

*Feature requests*
I am actively working on new features to change the way you turn off TV's! Have an interesting idea to incorporate to the universal TV Off app? Send me an email and I'd love to consider it in an upcoming version!

*Planned improvements*
-Widget support

*Recent updates*
-Major improvements, code sending is now 3 times faster!
-Newer Samsung Galaxy devices are now fully supported
-LG G3 should be supported at this time

Model LG g pro 2, d838 on kitkat 4.4.2 unrooted stock I want a refund it doesn't work even with the most mainstream Samsung tvs ALL LG phone owners be aware that this app doesn't currently work with our phones. I recommend that this app marked as incompatible with any lg model so it doesn't display if you have an lg device. Logically that would mean the lg tablets too. The communication with the developer has been excellent though

I love this app does what it says it does . Might take a minute and a half the most to get the right code but it works on most common TVs. Great app and updated quite often. The dev is super friendly as you can see he helped most people that had problems with the app. Just great.

R70%

Sat in bar with intrusive TV playing shite. Ran app and TV switched off. No one batted an eye-lid. Conversations ensued uninterrupted. Will use again.. 10/10

I've used this a lot but always with the fear a restaurant or shop manager will walk by and recognize the app. This should run in the background or minimized. Then it would be perfect!

H70%
by H####:

It works. Your phone needs to have a IR blaster for it to work. I would give it full stars but I'm having issues where I cannot save codes without the app crashing and closing. Please fix.

G70%
by G####:

Has so far turned off every TV I have tried it on where the IR input on the TV was not blocked. Works in the background so once activated you can switch to another app. Simple. Effective. All you can ask for in a utility.

Doesn't work with my DSE G3222 though :( but then it's a rare model. Tried again a year later, no change.

It would be great if the app had the full catalogue of an ir remote, and the user could choose to cycle through other commands instead of just power off. Also, it would be helpful to display the codes it is sending, so I could quickly determine what ir remote to use for an unknown tv.

Love it ... too bad it works on my "old" S4 but not on my new Note 5 which does not come with an IR blaster :-( Worth every penny of 99¢ ... now all I need is to see what the number was that worked as it flashed past? I want to save the top numbers such as the TV in the doctor's reception office, where when i am waiting for the doctor feeling lousy I very much do not want to be force fed a diet of Fox News. How can the numberthat works be identified and saved please?
