About Droid NAS

Droid NAS allows you to share folders over a Wi-Fi network, making your Android device visible as a Bonjour computer in Finder on your Mac. Turn your phone or tablet into a wireless flash drive with a single tap!

Different profiles can be used to quickly choose which folders to share. Assign your home or office Wi-Fi networks to profiles and Droid NAS will auto-select profiles on start.

You can additionally share any folder on your device (including external SD cards) or remove unnecessary shares. Just tap and hold on the list of shares.

Supported systems:

- Mac OS X.
- Android: apps like ES File Explorer, Solid Explorer, GTVBox Video Player.
- Windows is NOT supported because it can't connect to SMB servers via a non-standard port.
- Linux most probably also won't work.

Keywords: SMB, CIFS, Server, file, transfer, download, upload, copy.

I have never gotten this to work. Thought I try again but nope still can't get it to work. Osx latest version no says server not supported.

N70%
by N####:

It's easy to use. Relatively intuitive. The limitation of internal sdcard access via network and no ms windows access isn't a good move. Luckily I have a MBP and it works great, but I would prefer access for Windows as well.

I downloaded it, then tapped start server, and the file showed up on my mac book pro as descibed. So far so good right. But then I clicked on the tab in finder and the only thing I see in the window is connection failed. I tried several times with the same result. I had high hopes for this one, but no dice.

by D####:

Just tried to connect several times, and I get, "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem." I've tried browsing, connecting directly instead of browsing, including with the Maverick workaround, using a password, not using a password, disabling "wake for network access", and restarting the computer. If there is anything that works, I would appreciate knowing. Samsung Galaxy S4, SCH-I545 Android 4.4.2 Mac OSX Yosemite, 10.10.2

My Mac finds my device but keeps saying "connection failed" I have a Samsung Note 3. No other file transfer things work for me! Please help!

Z70%

It just doesn't work. I see my phone in Finder. I double click on the directory in Finder and get a "Connection failed" message. I've tried connecting by using smb:// as well. Even worse, there doesn't seem to be any help available. The web page for the product basically just says "it's really easy," which it isn't.

This application will be great once I can connect to it with my Macbook pro. I tried several networks and settings and there's a problem connecting to it with Mavericks. I hope you get this going as it looks like it could be a real handy app.

Not working properly on galaxy note 4 with android 6.0.1. No luck connecting from iMac running El Capitan, using Finder. Some luck connecting via cmd+K but need to put share name in the path. Trying to transfer over 4 gb file to phone's internal memory brings "file too big for filesystem" (where did that come from?). Bottomline: next to useless on current Android 6 and current mac (El Capitan). Note to developers: time to get back to the drawing tables.

Works great on my Samsung Galaxy Note II but it took some trial and error to figure out how to access my external SD card. With the server stopped you have to tap and hold, and a screen comes up that allows you to enter a path to share. The external card is not offered by default. I used /extSdCard.

no support and yes it is free but most frustrating are you who love it and see us who suffer with username password issue and not one of you kind loving folk or the Dev write anything to help us. I call that SELFISH. BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL

DroidNAS does NOT work on Yosemite and the workaround is very limiting since it only connects directly to ONE shared folder at any one time. Was great in previous OS X versions. DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!

Cannot connect , tried all options, may have once worked with some configurations, big waste of time. C-Net can no longer be relied on for reviews.

it's not like AirDroid or wifi transfer apps , it something unique , you can work on your device as hard disk , you can copy from your device and paste anywhere on your Mac , I said "paste" not Download like what other apps do , it's really amazing app , good job and keep going my friend :)

This is an excellent little FREE app which does just what it says on the tin. But you are shooting yourselves in the foot by not explaining more clearly how to connect under versions of OSX since Mavericks - and why it has to be like this now. Even pointing out that the app tells you what the IP address is would help many. It seems to me that all your negative feedback is due to ignorance of how to work it rather than a fault with the app.

We are using this to transfer music and photos from a Mac to a LG VS980 phone and to an Ellipsis 8. Was very easy to connect and also using to organize "albums" on the devices. Great app. My daughter says she would have saved 4 hours if she had found this first!

Tried the 'work around' and also tried it on multiple WiFi networks to no avail. Had high hopes for this but unfortunately leaves wanting. Wanting something that works.

On yosemite it just doesnt work. Useless. Tried connecting directly using cmd-k, it says the server may not exist, check IP and network which I have done, no joy

Running OS X 10.7, connects effortlessly in my experience. I much prefer using this app with the Finder to manage files in lieu of the clunky Android File Transfer application for Mac.

In Yosemite, unless you know your phone's IP and the share name, you cannot connect to the device. Finder continually prompts for a username and password, or says something about not being able to connect to "the version of the server". Love the idea, and if you know you're comfortable enough with going to finder, then typing CMD + k and then connecting to "{IP Address}:7777/Camera" (for example) then it won't work for you. Would happily pay for a fixed version of the app if that's what's needed - as it's such a great idea.

This app just worked at first. Now it doesn't show up. I have made sure the sidebar settings have the box checked for bounjor. I am running a MacBook pro with mountain lion. I am on the same Wi-Fi. I can't find anything different from what it was before. Any ideas dev? Thank you for a great app though. Cheers, Brian.

After finding out I couldn't mount my HTC One M8's external SD card directly to my Mac through USB, I've been looking for a workaround. Droid NAS is the simplest WiFi solution I've found to transfer my files. Long press the file list and you can add your SD to the list, then you're ready to go. Works great, and its free. What more could you want?

I can access my HTC One SV's external SD at SD Card/ext_sd/. All this app needs apart from startup status is free choice of folders to share. It doesn't see my music or camera folders so it would be better to let me choose them myself.

When trying to connect to Droid NAS from my 2014 Macbook Air, I get an error message: 'The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported...' I have tried the Mavericks Cmd-K workaround and it doesn't work. If someone can offer a solution and get this to work I will happily change my rating.

This app works wonderful. Would rate 5 stars if it would access the external sd card on my s4 active. Edit: Had to knock it down a star due to having to manually enter the share address after Mavericks. Will raise to 5 star once this is resolved.

Continue to have problems connecting.. wants some kind of passcode which kinda baffles me. I've asked a couple of times in an email for help with no response... I switched from an iPhone 5s, if this is how Android developers treat their users maybe I should just go back to a real platform.... not happy

When trying to connect under os 10.10 Yosemity I get the error that my server version is not supported. Please update the app and charge me for it. I love the idea. If it worked as advertized I would pay money for it and upgrade my rating to 5 stars.

Tried with mac running Yosemite and LG G4 . Get connection failed error. Tried work around but had to manually reconnect everytime I want to access phone. Wouldn't let me copy files from mac to phone (file in use error). Will stick with USB connection for time being.

On my mid 2012 Mac with El capitan 10.11, I get an Error saying "there was a problem connecting to the server (IP address)" . This version of the server you are trying to connect is not supported. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem) Upon resolution, I'll take down this comment immediately.

I installed your App on my OnePlus Two to link my Mac Book Pro. The problem is Finder sees my mobile – but requires to write password – “to connect server”. I do not know – where I should get this password – I tried all of ones – AppleID, others – Please help me,

Phone appears on shared network. Can not successfully login! Tried with cmd+k and it works. Please fix this so it can connect automatically.

I have used it before seamlessly, now when I attempt to use it in requires a USERNAME and PASSWORD. Which ultimately makes it useless. If we can get a workaround for this I would definitely change that rating. Update: After reading carefully in the WHAT NEW section I saw the workaround. I used it and signed in under GUEST and it works. I would love to gain access to my External SD Card as well. Was upgraded from 1 star to 3, with the External SD Card Workaround it will be a 5 Start rating.

I'm using OS 10.10.2, whatever it's called, and I've tried everything to connect my Android Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Ain't gonna happen. Kies (by Samsung) coan connect for some things, but not others. AFT can connect on one computer but not the other. But if I want to transfer a file from the Mac into the Tab that isn't a music, a photo, or a video, like a PDF? or an eBook? Forget it. Droid NAS doesn't work on either Mac.

I have also had no luck connecting with Yosemite. It shows my Nexus 5 being on my computer but continues to say connection failed. Like the others who have the same problem I will be glad to upgrade my rating as soon as the Yosemite problem is fixed.
