আল্লাহ তা‘লা জান্নাতী এবং জাহান্নামীদের অবস্থার মধ্যে সম্পূর্ণ বৈপরিত্য রেখেছেন। আল্লাহ বলেন,
“জাহান্নামের অধিবাসী এবং জান্নাতের অধিবাসী সমান হতে পারে না। যারা জান্নাতের অধিবাসী, তারাই সফলকাম।” (সূরা হাশর-২০)
জ্বিন ও ইনসানকে আল্লাহ তা‘লা কেবল তাঁরই এবাদতের উদ্দেশ্যে সৃষ্টি করেছেন। তাদেরকে আনুগত্যের আদেশ করেছেন। মুমিনদেরকে জান্নাতের সুসংবাদ দিয়েছেন। মিথ্যারোপকারীদেরকে জাহান্নামের ভয় দেখিয়েছেন। তাদের হেদায়েতের জন্য অসংখ্য নবী রাসূল প্রেরণ করেছেন।
নবী করীম সা. বলেন, “আমার এবং মানুষের দৃষ্টান্ত হলো এমন এক ব্যক্তির ন্যায়, যে আগুন প্রজ্বলিত করল। অতঃপর আলোৎসাহী পোকাগুলো এসে আগুনে পতিত হচ্ছিল। ওই ব্যক্তি বাঁধা দিয়েও তাদের বারণ করতে পারছিল না; তারা আগুনে ঢুকেই পড়ছিল। আমিও তেমন, তোমাদেরকে আগুন থেকে বারণ করছি আর তোমরা আগুনে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ছ।” (বুখারী-৩২৪৪)

“যারা বলে, হে আমাদের পালনকর্তা, আমরা ঈমান এনেছি, কাজেই আমাদের গোনাহ ক্ষমা করে দিন আর আমাদেরকে জাহান্নামের আযাব থেকে রক্ষা করুন!” (সূরা আলে ইমরান-১৬)
কুরআন-হাদিসে জাহান্নাম থেকে বাঁচার অনেকগুলো আমল বর্ণিত হয়েছে-
জাহান্নাম থেকে মুক্তি পেতে আমলের তাগিদ করেছেন।
