Everytime I try to navigate through the app it'll randomly take me back to the beginning where my list of environments shows. I can't wait until this platform works. Sticking with cloud9 until then.

N70%
by N####:

I haven't figured out why I'm getting this from the app yet (when creating files, folders, not being able to view anything; it's why I stopped using the container the first time / it expired). Now on a new one, once I determine why the app doesn't work for me I'll adjust my review.

N70%
by N####:

The app flat out won't let you log in if 2 Factor Authentication is enabled. The app will inform you 2FA is not supported, even if you enabled it previously, and use it logging into your Codeanywhere account via web browser. So you will need to lessen the security setting of your account to use this app if 2FA enabled.

by N####:

I love your web app but I can't login using my google account in the android app. I'll keep an eye out for updates if you're planning on implementing this.

by N####:

I use the desktop site, and it serves me well. The app however is embarrassing. I modified a web.config file through it, and my live site went bonkers. So, here's my big NOPE!

N70%
by N####:

The encoding is completely broken and won't save spaces correctly in utf-8. I'm running an Ubuntu 14 server and tested every combination I could to get this to work properly. I'd be happy to share my findings with the team as fixing this issue would put this app miles above competitors. Please fix!

N70%
by N####:

Great interface, however cannot upload files in PLAIN TEXT (ASCII) , somehow I can successfully do this on the desktop (browser version) but while using the app, the encoding gets messed up when uploading the file and the output shows weird characters all over the place. This makes the app worthless for coding :( PLEASE fix this. The effort to make coding available from a mobile device deserves a 5 star rating for sure, but without the propper encoding (ASCII) is not possible.

E70%
by E####:

The app looks promising if only it didn't mess with CSS files. I was fortunate that I tried the app on a test server or else it would have been worse!

N70%
by N####:

Google Drive didn't work, which is all I care about. Also, Python syntax highlighting didn't kick in? A monospaced font wasn't used. And trying to sign up for an account in the app failed; I had to do that on their website. Seems super buggy. But I'll give them one two stars for their nice interface; maybe it will be good if you just edit txt files on Dropbox.

N70%
by N####:

The app lacks many features that are easily accessible through the site. For example: managing git repos, viewing information about connecting to DevBoxes (with JuiceSSH or a similar app), and setting default syntax coloring for certain filetypes. Besides these few shortcomings, however, this is the best code editor for Android I have seen.

N70%
by N####:

All those money you invested for the UI of the app could be worthy if you also invest some for the editor.. it lacks many features.. including shortcut keys.. I use hackers keyboard & none of the shortcut keys work in your editor.. e.g. ctrl+s to save & much more.. please add those features.. plzzzzz

U70%
by U####:

When On am on mobile I use this app but when I save with this app it creates odd invisible characters that cannot be seen in most text editors. In Drive Note pad (google drive app)most white space shows up as a red rectangle with a dot in it while in Note Pad (the Windows txt editor ) they cannot be seen. When I save the file as a Javascript everything runs fine but if I save it as .html the invisible characters Javascript within my html page (not in a separate file) to throw the error "Unexpected Identifier: ". Which means this character can be detected by HTML code.

E70%
by E####:

Devboxes and SSH connection with public key doesn't work at all. Dropbox and GoogleDrive connections seems working, but there are DroidEdit that works better with them. Waiting for fixes, that will allow to work as well as on desktop.. or for mobile version of web editor istead the app.

Gave the app a try again, assuming it had been updated since I last tried it. Nope...and what do you know, the same CSS file issue happened again. Wish this concept worked because it is great (on paper). Fool me once....

M70%
by M####:

It's great, and I use it a lot for college; wish it didn't auto-rotate even when my rotation is locked though. It's very annoying, especially in certain situations.

L70%

Whenever you setup a git URL it will show the main folder but if you try to go into any of them it sends you back to the main page. I'm guessing the connection times out :/

N70%
by N####:

Monthly charges just to access my own cloud accounts. Constant failures to access Dropbox. Droidedit & AWD blows this out of the water. App forces you to the website just to edit syntax highlighting. nuff said.

T70%
by T####:

2FA not supported. Interface is very clunky. Layout does not display correctly. Password requirement for already existing connections. After entering the correct password several times it still won't connect. It's a shame.

E70%
by E####:

Okay it works. And if you are fast enough you can get to the file you want to edit before it takes you back to the main screen. Let's see what the new version coming in the next couple months will bring.

V70%
by V####:

I really liked the idea of this app, and like most others love the desktop version. But when it came to editing my CSS files and save it out, it breaks the CSS. Forgive my inexperience if I've missed something, but even simple modifications breaks my whole site.

I have used Code Anywhere on desktop, ipad, and just got in on android. It's been amazing so far, intuitive interface, great functionality, and mega convenient for coding on the go or in downtime. No more reddit toilet breaks! I have one problem with the android version, when saving a file created in netbeans it changes tab characters to (i with two dots, upside down question mark, 1/2 character) which kills the page. These aren't visible in codeanywhere unless you copy and paste the source text.

1) Can't log in with google account 2) Can't open terminal window 3) Can't create new connections It's actually forced me to look for other alternatives and cancel my codeanywhere subscription.

Z70%
by Z####:

I thought i was able to create code files in this, maybe misunderstood...? Fyi, on an lg g4 the ui renders over the edges and when adding a workspace it shows it half off the screen. Nice app though, very much like the ui, shame it isnt a fully fledged editor!

Z70%
by Z####:

The service is great when I use it on the computer, but this app crashes and loses all progress, fails to pull current revisions from the server, can't even remember passwords to your servers for you. This app has been so terrible for so long (read: years) that I can even understand why it's still in the store.

J70%
by J####:

The interface and file handling are good, but as others have mentioned encoding issues means that "hidden" characters are added to my file when I edit from Dropbox or FTP. This breaks my files and my PHP code does not run on the server. I would need an ASCII encoder to get around this.

Z70%
by Z####:

This would be an extremely nice app if it didn't spew random characters that break code everywhere. Heck, it would even be worth it to pay for something like this in a working state. But seriously? How can an app designed to do ONE thing do so poorly at its sole purpose? The web version is great, and honestly, it's greater than any IDE I've used before. But, this app, man...

Z70%
by Z####:

Please fix java/c/c++ syntax highlighting as it appears all green. DevBox option editing/terminal access would be nice too :) Otherwise an excellent app.

Everything looks and works sooo neat its just amazing rare thing to see in android.. Feels very premium. Love it!

Stay away from their annual subscription plans. And don't bother with Golang here... I learned the hard way that codeanywhere will not refund any unused portion of your annual plan, unless you cancel within 7 days. Well within one day I told them that their golang environment doesn't adhere to community best practices and renders the environment un-usable, I waited but nothing more than we'll investigate. So I then decide I'm cancelling - I guess I missed my 7 day window. In general, great concept, but they are not yet mature and their Terms of Service (on the topic of Refunds) seems a bit slanted in favor of themselves and not the customer. Try them out, but try before you buy or stay with the monthly plan so you can cancel.

I tried to create a devbox, and it was succesfully created. Unfortunately when I wanted to start working I tried to add a file and a folder, but I always get an error saying Invalid Parameters.

This works great on my device, love the interface too. Only thing is, I really want to use this to open up an ssh terminal like in the web app... that feature appears to be missing though.

This would have been perfect for me if it wasn't for the bug that makes it so unusable. it actually saddens me deeply. the bug is when you save the file from an android device/app it encodes tabs into characters that breaks the output through ftp (I have tried every type of encoding) it needs ASCII encoding added to it. this would fix the problem. I Very much hope this gets fixed soon.

A nice idea, but hasn't been thoroughly tested by the developers. The chrome app and the site itself allows third-party authentication (Github, Google, etc) but good luck trying to get that to work on the app; it just provides an email address sign in and prompts you to sign up when it fails to recognize you. You can even humor it and follow the "reset password" process, but that will just restart the whole loop again. For browser-based IDEs, Cloud9 is significantly better, and when/if that ever becomes available for tablets will be much welcome. For Codeanywhere, failing on something as simple as 3rd-party sign-in is a non-starter and an easy one-star rating.

It's a brilliant app with exactly the keyboard I need. My only issue preventing me from using the app at all is that when coding on my phone, the tabs are converted from normal spaces to an encoded character that completely breaks the output. This is an issue that's been ongoing for a while and I can't use the app at all until it's fixed.

This app is broken beyond belief, and considering I pay for this service it would be nice to have it fixed. I can't even navigate through the UI without it randomly returning me to the root menu and forcing me to use the back button a billion times to return. Makes you wonder why a company would release a broken app publicly.

T70%
by T####:

A desktop browser user, I tried the app for the first time. Saved changes successfully (literally one piece of text) , but the app ruined the CSS file. Thankfully I backed up, but dude... get it together! I love the vision of this company. It is unfortunate the execution is very poor on Android. I want to code anywhere without fear of losing my work or breaking the universe.

I'm on a Samsung note 2 and the cursor is pointing somewhere while the code is being edited elsewhere.

T70%

This app borders on useless. Wouldn't pay a penny for CodeAnywhere based on this app. Just noticed that the "decrease text size" and "increase text size" menu options both increase text size until it's completely unreadable. While this bug is pretty hilarious, it's very much in line with rest of the app. Very unresponsive, most of the time I have no idea what I'm waiting for, can't do many basic tasks and the editor is mediocre at best compared to what else is available in the Play Store.
