I'm a photographer and love being able to access all of my photos on the go. However I have a couple of complaints. Why are there no thumbnails? I have to download the whole folder to find the specific picture I want. If there were thumbnails I could select the picture I wanted. Also, when I do need a whole folder why can't I download it in one, I have to download each individual file. Its poor and sitting in the past, definitely in need of an update.

When it works, it's fine though rather limited in functionality. ("Unfortunately, CrashPlan has stopped.") This app probably needs work if not a complete rewrite. On the Windows side, CrashPlan is outstanding, better than MozyHome, but this app brings down the whole product. Worse still, it appears that no one at Code 42 is minding the store.

X70%
by X####:

It is a simple app that gives you a view into your backups and the ability to download files to your mobile device. There is no search, no gallery, no preview. That's not what CrashPlan is for. It's not Dropbox. It has crashed on me a few times or I'd rate it higher.

R70%
by R####:

I wish there was a search feature, because navigating the folders is such a huge pain. Accidentally click the wrong folder? That sucks, because hitting the back button will just take you to the home screen, and so will the back icon at the top left of the app. I'm happy to have peace of mind that my files are backed up, I just wish it was easier to access them as promised.

P70%
by P####:

Only real use for it is to download files off cloud storage on to your handheld device. Which is useless - in my case. It would be useful if it had following features: account settings adjustment; show size of uploaded folders; check upload status of different folders (just to name a few). Also it wouldn't hurt to modernize both phone app and pc client. Interfaces of both look like they are Win2000 based. Just saying...

X70%

Just about fulfils the ability to restore files. What about other key features like how much has been backed up? Any issues or problems backing up? Last back up etc.

PC backup service is good but this app has its ups and downs with sporadic phases when it won't download files from the backup. When it's working and I need to access a file that my computer has backed up then it's very handy indeed.

I am a big fan of the software, but in addition to limited functionality (no multi-select, no access to hidden/deleted files), I have been unable to access the server from my phone for a few days. Waiting patiently for updates.

S70%
by S####:

The app and service used to be nice, but of late all I get is request timed out errors. I can restore a file maybe once out of 10 tries. I've got great bandwidth on my end, so something is messed up on the Crashplan side. Sad. I used to recommend this service.

This is app is broken, again. It does not download and it does not seem that the owners are in any hurry to fix the problem given the length of time that it has persisted, as well as the length of time that it took to complete the last fix.

I got the app for when I am out-and-about and want a file from my computer that was backed up to CrashPlan's server. Once the file is downloaded, one can edit with the appropriate app. The app has worked perfectly for me on each of the several dozen test runs, plus a couple of real-life downloads. It is quite intuitive to use and required no Studying of any User Manual (Yay!) Drilling down to the desired folder is just about the same as on the computer version, so there was no new stuff to learn. (Again- Yay!) Two things I miss are being able to restore the deleted files and restore past versions of files. An e-mail to Code 42 support provided a fast reply with a perfect solution: Use CrashPlan's Web Restore feature with your browser. Easy Enough. One thing it can not do that would be spiffy: If you download a file and edit it, the changes are not sent back to CrashPlan. But, you can put the file on your computer later and CrashPlan will catch it on the next backup. I suppose if they added a feature to backup changed files from this app the app would be larger & I'd write a review saying the app is too large.

Why can't I back up my android devices with crashplan? Or the ability to stream media from the app

Q70%
by Q####:

My ability to connect is very spotty. Sometimes it works, a lot of the time it doesn't. I don't understand why.

X70%
by X####:

Thought I'd try to connect to my archives from Android but no go. Too bad.

X70%
by X####:

But, no access 5deleted files, and needs option to download whole folders not just individual files.

V70%

Need picture preview and search

X70%
by X####:

I have installed the mobile app on 3 devices and the app worked very well on all of them.

X70%
by X####:

It does what it says very well. It would be nice to see backup status, start backups, etc

X70%
by X####:

App needs to be more like pc client. Why can I only look at recent backups?

K70%
by K####:

No preview photos or video (thumbnail)

X70%
by X####:

Just barely does what it is supposed to do. But very basic and could be a lot better.

X70%
by X####:

No thumbnails for photos, videos. No search feature

X70%
by X####:

Only just started using it no issues but early days

Paying customer. Guys, this app has been crashing for weeks now after the also update. Check the reviews, many people are having the same issue. Please increase the priority of this fix or roll back to the previous version. It's unacceptable that such a popular online backup service doesn't have a working mobile app... Nexus 5, Android 5.1.1 Edit : it seems to work now. Thank you!

X70%
by X####:

I've been swearing by CrashPlan (and CrashPlan+) ever since I ditched Mo*y many years ago. With this app, I can retrieve any file I want whenever I'm not near my computer or if it is offline/not running.

X70%
by X####:

I'm only sticking around until competition catches up in price and ease of use. Doubt that'll take long since you're slacking to improve

X70%
by X####:

App works great on PC but instantly crashes on android after last update. Same thing happened last summer. Why do they keep breaking android version? Updated 3.25.2016: Crashplan is now working ok

B70%
by B####:

App crashes when trying to sign in for first time. It then crashes as soon as you open it every single time. I'm on the latest Android version running on the Google Nexus 6P. If they can't get it to work on this phone then I doubt this app works on any other Android device.

F70%
by F####:

Bandwidth is so low that downloading even one 5mb photo is impossible - - it just times out. Downloading the same photo from Dropbox takes under 1 second. Considering dropping my family plan over this.

A70%
by A####:

Works fine is I'm on my own network but crashes immediately if I'm on a different network (than home) or on data. How do you retrieve files this way, CrashPlan?

X70%
by X####:

I played around to make sure it worked and didn't face any issues. I was easily able to browse my files and download to my device.

X70%

Samsung S6, try to open CP but it "stops working" every time. It's useless! How about a fix?!

H70%
by H####:

Still a bit clunky, but hey, it actually downloads files now!

Crashes every time Nexus 6 on Marshmallow.

In the latest update, I can finally download files! It's a miracle. (I don't really get these people... this was a MAJOR bug in the app for MANY MONTHS, and when they finally fix it, they only put "Performance enhancements" in the change log.)

T70%
by T####:

Too bad thus app doesn't work. Using TeamViewer as an alternative to access files.

U70%
by U####:

This app no longer works! CrashPlan might as well remove it from the store.

R70%
by R####:

This is an efficient way to access my backed up files on the go. My NAS is backed up constantly, and then I have fast access to it from Crashplan's servers when I need it remotely. It's great!

U70%
by U####:

Works fine (I can download) on my Note 5. Maybe they fixed it. Would be nice if the app could show previews of media files before downloading, so it would be easier to find what I am looking for.

S70%

After the latest update the app crashes on opening.... Please fix this.. I have a stock Nexus 6p
